  2. How big a Cards fan can you be if you would dump them for the Cubs just because the Cubbies get an overrated overpaid center fielder? One who's in love with Captain Caveman, obviously. And it isn't just that, I've been slowly getting her converted, but she said that that one signing would make it final.
  3. Has this become the official rag on Cards fans thread? Because living where I do I could go on and on...
  4. I really want Johnny Damon on the Cubs for personal reasons. My fiance is from St. Louis and a huge Cardinals fan. She swore that she would completely hop the fence and become a full time Cubs fan if we get Johnny.
  5. IIRC he's a switch eater, so as long as he continutes to eat only from his left side he should be fine.
  6. Has there been talk of having Murton learn RF or CF this winter? Granted I'd love to see him starting in left next year, having the flexibility to play RF would be great to open up a trade (::cough::Manny::cough::)
  7. Anyone have pictures yet?
  8. When does the final voting commence?
  9. Murton with the steal. What an ideal 7 hole hitter
  10. Dusty would never have 1-3 all lefties. Yes I know that lineup makes the most sense, but cmon dude, man, you gotta change it up RLRL dude!
  11. Don't trade Lee for anyone not named Pujols or Texiera.
  12. I would however be sickened by that move. Pierre is not the answer, as I'm sure 99% of this board believes also.
  13. I know it was talked about briefly earlier this season (around the trade deadline), but could we throw together a package to net Bobby Abreu? Say something along the lines of Patterson, Williams, and a B level prospect? I know it's a pipe dream, but imagine Bobby playing half his games in Wrigley. Instantly we have a running game.
  14. No way he comes that cheap. Also please everyone stop with the sign Julian Tavarez or Kyle Farnsworth. Neither are happening.
  15. With Nomar on the market, he's more likely to be the overpaid one of the two. What teams are going to be looking for a new SS?
  16. Brenly was making a good point about a single that Corey got late in the game in that he got to two strikes and didn't throw his whole body into his swing like he used to. He was actually TRYING to put the ball in play and not kill it. His swing is visually different. His hands are a little lower, and he doesn't [expletive] back as far before his swing. Granted a couple of swings he's done this, but I'm sure that's the biggest thing he's worked on.
  17. I would giggle like a schoolgirl.
  18. No team in MLB has stolen fewer bases than the Oakland A's. The Cubs have stolen twice as many bases as the A's. The A's have 14 sacrifice bunts on the year. The Cubs have 48. The Cubs have more than three times as many sac bunts as the A's. The A's do not play small ball. They do walk. Oakland ranks 7th in bases on balls. The Cubs rank 27th. I agree that the Cubs should play like Oakland. We should not be bunting in the third inning (which we have done this season). We should not be attempting steals unless we have a 75% chance of success. We should sign players with better plate discipline. I was at a Cubs-Reds game in 2002 and Don Baylor called for a bunt on the SECOND BATTER OF THE GAME!! You mean the Jimy Williams Special.
  19. And what exactly do you base this opinion on? Watching him play? Well I'd venture to say that there are a lot of Cardinal fans who have seen him play more than you. Stats? The stats say he is slightly inferior to DLee as a fielder. So are you prepared to say that DLee is also only slightly better than average "on his best day"? I think not. Here's the best idea: don't make blanket statements about a player's fielding ability (especially when you don't watch them everyday) because fielding statistics are horrible, and so you really have no way of knowing how good in the field Pujols is. My fiancee is as diehard about the Cardinals as I am about the Cubs. Living in central Illinois I get both Cards and Cubs games every day. Don't tell me I don't watch the Cards play. I actually might have seen more Cards games than Cubs games this year. I wouldn't make a statement without a way to back it up, and I'd appreciate it if you'd do the same.
  20. 1. Arrested Development 2. Family Guy 3. Daily Show Seriously, how can you make a list of the best shows on TV without listing Arrested Development?
  21. If Pujols wins the GG then there is officially something wrong with the award. He is a slightly above average fielder on his best day of the year.
  22. I still don't see why Burnitz isn't playing center every day with Lawton in right and Murton in left. A chimp would make that lineup change.
  23. By the way, don't EVER call John Rodriguez "J-Rod." It only furthers the idea that he deserves a nickname. He gave it to himself to try to make a name for himself in the big leagues where his talents failed to for many years. Anyone who writes his self-given nickname on his shoes is not worth the breath it takes to say his name.
  24. This would be a great opportunity to reduce the pitchers to 11. I say, when the Cubs activate Wood, Williamson and Nomar, they should send down Mitre and Wuertz, and DFA Mike Remlinger. I agree, except I'd replace Novoa with Wuertz. I totally see Remmy getting DFA'd. Let him be someone else's problem if they're crazy enough.
  25. Looks good hoops, but remember this is Dusty we're talking about. There will be 12 pitchers and Macias will be in there somehow. Think he'd rework his contract to be a batboy?
