  1. Apparently Sox fans are pissed because the umps blew the call on the Lamb homer.
  2. Anyone know what the CW is on the ump's uniforms?
  3. Because no one quite believes he's 25? :^o Anyone who believes he's 25 shares the same beliefs as those who believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
  4. I dont know what "Winnetka" is. In Minnesota, its a town....Is that a studio in Chicago? if so...cool. I love Phair's music, and alot of the "alternative" music of the 90's. but I hated the way it was marketed....I felt it was unfair to the artists.... Winnetka is a city in the North Shore (upper class suburbs of Chicago). Smashing Pumpkins, Urge Overkill, Veruca Salt, Local H (Zion), etc.. I thought Liz Phair was marketed as the times dictated, but Whipsmart was a drop-off from Exile and then she took a 3 year break and came out the white chocolate egg and that album was god-awful. Had she kept the same edge as Exile in Guyville, she would've had the success. Billy Corgan is from Elk Grove Village.
  5. how is that song tasteless? What does God have to do with baseball?
  6. It's not bad enough that MLB makes them perform a tasteless song like that during each game of the World Series, they pick a tone deaf artist to slaughter it.
  7. I don't think that deal comes close to getting it done. If Zito comes this way, Beane is going to want Hill or another pitching prospect that he might value. He'll demand Murton and then want another prospect. Then he can take his moneyball and shove it. That's LaMarr-esque negotiating there.
  8. Hard to argue with that if his arm is sound. He'd make the biggest splash, too. The coverage from Japan would come very close to what Ichiro and Godzilla got (get). Exactly. With his storied Gyroball, it'd be a while before the league got even a page in a book on him, especially considering maybe a handful of scouts have ever seen the pitch in person.
  9. They did when they were the Colt 45s. They played it on the Score this morning.
  10. Matsuzaka please.
  11. I'm surprised to see Baggy bat that low in the order.
  12. I can see them trading Edmonds to NYY for something like Cano, Wang, and cash, then go and sign Johnny Damon to play center. Instantly the fans forget about their hero Jimmy "I Wear Eyeliner" Edmonds with Cap'n Caveman out there. Cano becomes a cheap 2nd baseman to facilitate the big signings of Damon and a big name SP like Millwood or Burnett. Thoughts?
  13. You don't think a package with Corey, Hill, and Nolasco/Pinto/Mitre plus cash gets it done for Zito? Granted I know Corey's value is low, but Oakland has to know in a system like they have with the ability to get the most out of young players with a load of talent they could make him succeed in a big way.
  14. They wouldn't get any viewers. I compare ESPN to Fox News. Nothing to report? Make crap up!
  15. Isn't Abraham Nunez a FA this year? After the numbers he put up in StL this year, do you think he turned a corner or was it a fluke? If his stats this year were for real then nabbing him would be a really good move, but I'm afraid of him turning into this year's Tony Womack.
  16. I'd love to see Branyan as the first bat off the bench and the guy to spell Aramis at 3rd. Is he a FA this year?
  17. What moves would you like to see to improve the bench this offseason? Dropping Macias like a bad habit is the obvious choice, but what players do you want to see as reserves? Fill it with young talent from within the system, sign free agents likely to produce, or trade for someone else's parts and try to make something out of it? Personally I'd love to sign John Mabry as our Macias-type utility player. The guy plays every non-middle infield, swings a decent bat from the left side, and would fill two needs for us: utility and solid lefty bench bat. Thoughts?
  18. How about those "best fans in baseball" booing the umps' introduction? Real classy.
  19. How could you theoretically provide this game free?
  20. Do you guys have a league?
  21. I seriously hope Aramis wasn't listening in to that segment. After hearing him during his press conference following his contract extension talk so lovingly about the Cubs, I don't want to ever see him leave. We've found a very good full-time third baseman for the first time in decades. Dear media, SHUT UP. We like Aramis. Love, Cubs Fans
  22. Listen I went to Eastern in 2003 when the cubs were in the playoffs and as a Cards fan had to put up with so much crap from cubs fans who thought they knew everything. Eastern is like 50% cubs fans and the rest is split between Sox and Cards so you have plenty of support. Those weren't real Cubs fans. Trust me, I hated most of them too. Those were the people who realized the Cubs were in the playoffs and claimed to be lifetime fans, yet couldnt name 2 guys off the bench.
