  1. Would that be a regression? That's basically what he is. It's more than just a couple walks. Willits: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pecota/images/willire03_006.png Theriot: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pecota/images/theriry01_006.png Fuld: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pecota/images/fuldsa01_006.png Pie: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/pecota/images/piefe01_006.png
  2. Wuertz + for this guys doesn't seem very sensible. "This guy" was #3 in rookie of the year voting last year. Yeah, and in 89 Walton and Smith went 1/2. ROY and other voting is meaningless to me. We're talking about a guy who has done a decent job hitting for average and getting on base at an old age for every level, and he hits for no power. I don't see him making much of a career out of his skillset. Wuertz, as a middle reliever, may be of equal value, but I'd much rather include Wuertz in a deal for something meaningful, not another 4th outfielder. Coming from a GM who so grossly overvalues veteran relievers, I can't imagine how he can justify trading one of his best + prospects for this guy. From what I see, he was 5th in voting. He would be our starting CF, IMO. Thats a scary thought. Pie and Fuld fight it out for the CF job in spring training. Pie spanks Fuld around a bit, wins the job easily. So we trade for a slightly supercharged version of Fuld... I could see the justification for using Willits as our CF against lefties. But he shouldn't be taking over against righties. And while I could probably stand the loss of Wuertz, tossing in more alongside him is grossly overpaying.
  3. it's a lot better than Theriot's His D is fading fast. I'd rather have Theriot than Uribe right now. Really? Uribe is projected to have a .251 EqA. Theriot is projected at .237. And even if Uribe's defense is on the decline, he's still got to be much better than Theriot.
  4. maybe i'm thinking of David or Chris I know Chris's old handle was something to do with the DJaxx...
  5. Shut-up douche. says the guy with "cubbie" in his screen name Douche' I know...It's the only thing I could think of when I created a username. At least you tried to be creative. Take a gander at my username. Thrilling, aint it? yeah, but it wasn't always just Rob though, right? Incorrect. All of my posts at NSBB have been made under the "Rob" handle.

  7. I just traded for him in the fantasy league. I'm not expecting 40 SB. But I had damn well better get 20-25.
  8. Not as absurd as the size of your sig pic, wow I dont have a sig and 7000+ posts is absurd....especially for Brian Roberts.... Pfft.. I nearly have 7000 posts about Brian Roberts by myself.
  9. It was supposed to have been done in "about ten days" since about a hundred days ago.
  10. He's on a minor league contract. I see no reason to not keep him in AAA until fate forces our hand... unless we think we can catch lightning in a bottle.
  11. Group A: Ryan Howard Group B: Ryan Braun, Alfonso Soriano Group C: Vladimir Guerrero, Aramis Ramirez, Nick Swisher Group D: Chase Utley, Jeff Francouer, Gary Sheffield, Ryan Zimmerman, Nick Markakis WC: Mark Reynolds
  12. So Bruce Kison is two people? :D After PA tears him in half for speaking with a member of the press, he will be...
  13. You already have Aramis Ramirez at third, and Jim Thome at UTIL. Were you really counting on Longoria to displace one of them?
  14. So you believe Billy Crystal is a Yankee?? :D At least somebody caught that...

  16. I really wont believe Roberts is a Cub until I've seen him bat while wearing a Cubs jersey.
  17. Why isn't Colorado getting in on the Brian Roberts action? Seems simple to me: Baltimore receives Ian Stewart and Franklin Morales Colorado gets Brian Roberts Colorado increases their chances of winning the NL West, Baltimore gets a couple of key pieces to their rebuilding project. If I'm the Rockies, I'd rather try to play Stewart at 2B and give Morales a spot in the rotation this year.

  21. You left out my Rafael Soriano pick at 138.
  22. Ugh. Crisp hasn't been worth a damn except for 2004-2005... and he wasn't even very good then. I'd have no trouble giving up Marquis and Fuld to use Crisp as a platoon CF and bat off the bench. But if he wouldn't be happy with that role, we shouldn't be in any hurry to acquire him.
  23. Winning isn't the point of spring training games. Setting the team up to win in the regular season is what spring training is for.
