  1. Zambrano loves the attention. And, quite frankly, he's way too competitive to retire.
  2. The Pirates are this decade's Expos. Ramirez Suppan Bay Lofton Nady Schmidt Benson That's a few...
  3. what about outside help? Gregg is pretty much bob howry. I was thinking Rick Aguilera, Cub Vintage... Rafael Soriano has been lights out for Atlanta. He'd be a guy I'd target.
  4. And on to the 25th. One guy is 1 for 11 on the night. A pitcher for Texas pitched 13 innings in relief. Austin Wood threw 179 pitches in 13 innings of relief.
  5. Boston College and Texas are tied at 2 in the bottom of the 24th. Yes, 24th. They have been tied for 19 innings. They have been playing for nearly 8 hours.
  6. The Cubs hit .274/.793 last year vs RHP (2nd in the NL). The Cubs are hitting .248/.734 this year vs RHP (11th in the NL). I'm glad the lineup is balanced. No issues.
  7. At the very least, he'll probably spend a week at DH during Interleague play. I have no feel for Fox's infield defense. Being a converted catcher, the throw from third shouldn't be an issue. The challenge, clearly, will be mobility and getting his body set up accordingly to make throws to 1B. Having Lee to throw to should help a lot. Will Lou pull him the first time he makes an error ?
  8. Aaron Miles can hit terribly left or right handed.
  9. But it wasn't a blow out game! Anyway, Theriot seems to be going through an Eckstein-like power surge. Chances of Theriot hitting more than 6-7 HR's are extremely low. As long as he continues to hit line drives all over the field, I am happy. Also, keep an eye on his BB/K ratio. It's too early to sound the alarm, but he needs to walk at a high rate to be successful.
  10. The you really need to DL the guy. How much times left at this point, like 5 days? We really need that extra body on the bench. He'd be eligible to return May 10th. This is one of those where you really need him to get back as close to 100% as possible. A DL stint in May is not the worst option. Tearing it is.
  11. His political writing is just about as brilliant as his work for BP. He does come across as a geek on television, but if your life's work is statistics by way of multivariate analysis, chances are you'll come across as a geek. Hopefully he's at least a weekly contributor to BBTN. Definitely brings balance relative to EY and Kruk.
  12. I just got a 3rd off my bench. Since Sanchez got skipped, I only woulda had 4. Good move. Davis has been pitching well - and, it's against the Giants.
  13. Solid battle going between the Screwballs and Raw Dawgs. 3 point game with the weekend to play. Each have two starts. Interestingly enough, the two starts for the Dawgs are tonight with Wainright and Dempster in the same game.
  14. i do too...including both starters facing the red sox in the DH. so that should be fun. hey, baker already off to a great start. Yeah. Baker's fastball is BP quality today. Nick Green just about took him out to the Mass. Pike.
  15. He's clearly not the same D. Lee as we saw three years ago, but it's too soon to pull the trigger on a lineup change. On the homestand, Lee is 8-21, 1 HR, 2 doubles, 5 RBI, and 3 walks. Besides, Soto and Bradley, who could hit third, aren't really lighting it up.
  16. Yeah, you definitely can't afford to have Volquez blow up like Wang. With that being said, Vasquez still needs to throw a gem.
  17. maybe your 4 pitchers can go for -100 tonight ? :)
  18. Lets hope it continues for at least this week. Two bombs by him significantly help the Screwballs.
  19. If you have enough grit, you have a chance...

On paper, it seems more balanced. Anyway, looking forward to another season!
  21. It could be better. Upton and Santana start the year on the DL. Both are due back by mid-April, so it should only be a two week issue. On the positive side, Penny looks awesome right now.
  22. OK, will do. NC, I plan to make my pick tonight. Sorry for the delay! That's fine. I'll be home tonight, so it shouldn't take me too long to make my next pick after yours. I wasn't intending to sound impatient, just thinking that if things don't start moving again we'd still be at this when the season begins (which, for minor league prospects, wouldn't necessarily be a problem anyway). No worries. The Screwballs select Ike Davis.
  23. OK, will do. NC, I plan to make my pick tonight. Sorry for the delay!
  24. I drafted him already. I'll trade him to you though. Oops. I didn't see him added in RK. I will drop him and pick another player. I can vouch for the fact that someone drafted Lawrie, although he may have forgotten to pick him up on Roadkill. I have a printout of BA's Top 100 prospect list; I started by crossing off those who were already on Roadkill rosters before the draft and have then been crossing off others as they've been drafted. Lawrie was crossed off on my list, meaning that somebody already had him. No worries. I went back and took Daniel Bard of the Red Sox. I didn't see that anyone had taken him and he's available in the RK database.
