  1. Sweet, Chiefs win, 6-5. Take that, SpongeBob!!!
  2. Hi, Adam, thanks for answering our questions! How are you feeling now? Did Carlos Zambrano mention anything to you later about pinch-running for you? :D Congrats on being called up, and we hope we'll see you playing at Wrigley soon!!!
  3. Javier Herrera hits a solo shot in the bottom of the 4th. 3-1 Chiefs to the 5th. Eric Patterson singles, then steals 2B & 3B to score on a Ryan Harvey sac fly! 4-1 Chiefs, bottom 5 ... Billek walks the first two batters (close call on the first walk). ... takes a line drive back to the mound, knocks it down and gets the runner at first .... appears to be ok. ETA: a wild pitch scores another Cougars run, and Billek is pulled with a 2-0 count on the batter for Dickson. Billek working around 91-92mph tonight by the pitchers gun (scoreboard gun is out). Matt Weber would be a good broadcast sidekick. :) The sound keeps cutting out on my broadcast feed, and I have to leave in little while, anyway ... so i'm out 'til later ... GO CHIEFS!
  4. After Harvey's HR, 3 two-out singles by Schmidt, Flowers and Granato lead to another run. Bernard reaches base on an error: bases loaded, two outs Simokaitis with an RBI walk! Rivera grounds into a fielders choice. -------------- Javier Herrera hits a solo shot in the bottom of the 4th. 3-1 Chiefs to the 5th.
  5. Ryan Harvey Home Run!! ~#20~ Chiefs first baserunner, first hit and first run of the evening. 1-0 Chiefs, top 4th Nathan had said last night that he'll have net access through tonight's game, so if you have any questions, email him at nathanb@chiefsnet.com. They don't have any access at Clinton, the next stop on the Chiefs road trip.
  6. Hi Brandon, welcome to NSBB! Congrats on having another great season, and congrats to the Diamond Jaxx on the first-half championship! 1) What are you proudest of having accomplished as a pro so far? 2) What are your goals for this season? 3) What's your favorite baseball movie? Thanks -- and best wishes for the remainder of the season.
  7. Not a bad idea.
  8. Nathan said "he couldn't have rolled it out there better if he tried." They turned 5 double plays today, including the game ender. You can't argue with that. Sam Fuld rocks! He's usually really good at minizing damage. He's hard to hit; he gets into trouble with errors and walks. ...and... He won again! Chiefs are now 4-11 vs the Cougars. In games that Gallagher has started, Chiefs are now 3-1 vs the Cougars.
  9. Maybe we'll all just send DesMoinesCub $1 instead. 8) I hope it's true -- would be great to hear from someone firsthand (or secondhand, I guess).
  10. Good grief, the Chiefs FINALLY beat the Cougars, 7-4. But we turn on the broadcast in the bottom of the 9th, and the bases were loaded with no outs. I think the constant SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! screaming at Kane County must freak out the Chiefs players. Gallagher gets his 12th win, tied for league lead.
  11. Ugh. In the bottom half, Bernard drops a Castillo foul popup for his 12th error ... and 9 pitches later, Gallagher ends up walking him. Ruiz HBP Double Play! Pennington walks Perez doubles, scoring Castillo and Pennington. Both runs are unearned. Leslie flies out. 3-2 Chiefs My last update for awhile ... GO CHIEFS! ETA: ok, before leaving, I have to post that Luis Rivera just made an incredible leaping stab-catch of a line drive and doubled Buck (who had doubled) off 2B for the double play. Sounded like a great play!
  12. Solo Home Run for Sam Fuld in the top of the 3rd! It bounced off an umbrella stand. Harvey with a seeing-eye single, and Schmidt with an RBI double. Granato follows with an RBI single, advancing to 2B on the throw. 3-0 Chiefs, middle 3rd. Other Peoria Game Notes Luis Rivera is making his Chiefs debut tonight at 3B. Javier Herrera has a broken tooth and is out of the lineup. Corey Patterson has singled and K'd so far. Sam Fuld with a nice running catch -- full extension -- for the first Cougars out. Gallagher's parents are there to see him pitch. Bo Flowers is in the lineup and has lots of family/friends there (he's from Maywood, IL). Nathan has a cold (vitamin C hard candy!).
  13. Brownlie did start on Tuesday (you can check the 8-2 Minor League game threads for the numbers), but there weren't any reports about a return in velocity.
  14. This is a good reminder that Bo Fulginiti's answers for the Q&A are up in the Chats Forum. (Premium Link / Regular Link). He shared these observations on Juan Mateo:
  15. Congrats on your successful season! Have you ever been to Wrigley Field? What was your favorite MLB team growing up? Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced this season? Thank you!
  16. You pitched for Boise in short-season-A after you were signed in '02. What was the transition from college ball to pro-ball like for you? What was the biggest surprise? Thanks!
  17. Thank you for answering our questions! If you were to compare yourself to a pitcher in the major leagues, who would it be and why? Is there a change in emphasis on developing certain skills at the AA level vs Advanced-A? If you could choose a killer closer song, what would it be? Good luck with the remainder of the season!
  18. Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! If you had a Top Ten List of Most Common Batting Mistakes you see, what would be on it? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for taking our questions! What has been the biggest adjustment for you so far in going from A to AA? How did you find out when you were called up to West Tenn? (story plz) How do players deal with picking up and moving when you're promoted? You've already gone from Edinburg to Peoria to Jackson this season. What help does the team provide in terms of just finding a place to stay? I saw you play in Peoria, where you mashed. Good luck with the rest of the season!
  20. Thanks for the reminder, DJaxx ... I still have questions to submit. :) The Peoria-Kane County series will wrap up the season series between the two teams. Kane County has stomped all over the Chiefs lately; would be nice if the Chiefs could pull out a few wins here. 21. Understood ... WGN used to be the main pusher.
  22. Please watch the language. If you need a break from the game threads or from the Cubs, then -- by all means -- take one. What language? Just ease up. After reading this, I thought you were taking a break. There is a rants section for ranting -- people should feel free to use it from time to time. :)
