  1. TIE GAME!!!!! 4-4 First Jesse Schmidt drove in Ryan Harvey -- who scored from 2B and appeared to be running well (didn't have to slide) -- and then a 2-run bomb by Drew Larsen!
  2. Thanks for the NSBB shoutout, Nathan! :D (I lied, I still have the broadcast on the computer while I change.) He talked about the site and the interview question sessions we have up now for Ryan Harvey, Grant Johnson, Sam Fuld & Matt Weber and about the minor leagues forum. That's great -- hopefully we'll get some more minor league aficionados signing in! EXCELLENT
  3. We've ended up at Sully's a bunch of times after games ... very easy to get to from the park. SOPs has a lot of live music and is a good time but I totally lose track of time when I've gone there. Here's the side-by-side format L/R splits for the starting pitchers + Nolen. They're all RHers. Pitcher OAV-R HR-R OAV-L HR-L IPs Billek .174 2 .216 0 23.2 Estrada .336 6 .274 4 133.2 Gallagher .199 5 .200 3 134 Johnson .279 4 .176 2 54.1 Nolen .236 1 .196 0 61.1 Weber .277 9 .314 3 130.2 I wonder how much of Grant Johnson's reverse splits is due to that terrible outing he had vs Kane County. Nathan, could you give me the AB numbers vs. Gallagher (total / RH / LH)? I have his RH/LH split at .195/.200 and I'm wondering where the error is. And, yeah, that's going to bug me until I figure it out. ARGH!!! Thanks!
  4. Fly to Peoria, PJ!!! Jim wants to go to a Chiefs game, too. It will be better than seeing Ricky!! :D And now you know where to go, too.
  5. 4-1 Silver Hawks bottom 4 and they have a runner at 3B, no outs. And the runner is thrown out at home on a ground ball to 3B! Harvey is DH-ing again today. Weber is getting hit, but a couple of those runs could easily have been unearned. The Chiefs D has had some burps. The scorekeeping in South Bend has been horribly, excrutiatingly, terribly homeristic the whole homestand. It could be the biggest joke of an error on a Chiefs player, but it's a hit every time for the Silver Hawks ... and vice versa. No wonder they're all hitting up a storm average-wise. I'm out for awhile, so this is prob the last game update from me. 4-1 Hawks to the 5th
  6. YAY SING!! The day off must have done him some good. Chiefs down 2-0 in the 3rd.
  7. Ergh, hope you feel better, DJaxx. Fuld and EPat lead off the Peoria game with back-to-back singles, but then get stranded.
  8. Earlier this season, Matt Weber pitched 38.1 innings without allowing a walk. What's the Chiefs record for consecutive innings without a walk (and the MWL record, if you have that)? Just curious. Of course, ex-Chiefs Greg Maddux holds the NL record with 72.1 innings, which was broken by an IBB to Steve Finley. :)
  9. Isn't Albuquerque a home-run haven ballpark? The Chiefs will be looking to avoid a 4-game sweep by South Bend. With 19 games left, they're 3 games out of the wild-card spot.
  10. Who are you referring to when you say Cub "Minor League enthusiasts"? Because it seems here that you're blaming them for JVB not being on the 40-man roster:

  13. Last I checked, posters here don't control who is and is not on the 40-man roster. Glad to hear that you do.
  14. 4-2 Silver Hawks to the 9th. South Bend scores twice in the 8th on 4 walks and a wild pitch. ETA: Chiefs lose, 4-2
  15. 2-2 tie in Chiefs game, bottom 8 ... but runner at 3rd, 1 out for South Bend. Bonifacio (SB) went from 1st to 3rd on a sac bunt when no one was covering 3rd (all converging for the bunt). Billek pitched well, 5.1IP, 2R, 1ER. ETA: The boxscore just updated to show both Billek runs now as earned runs ...
  16. That's great news! He didn't waste any time & blasted a 2-run HR in the 1st inning (#22)! :D
  17. http://peoriachiefs.com.ismmedia.com/ISM2/PlayerManager/362.jpeg.300.jpeg Sam Fuld, the Center Fielder for the Peoria Chiefs, has graciously agreed to answer questions from posters on NSBB! If you would like to send a comment to Sam, or if you would like to ask Sam a question, feel free to post it here. Since the Chiefs' regular season is winding down, the deadline for submitting questions is MIDNIGHT, Tuesday, August 23. Once Sam has had an opportunity to answer them, the responses will be posted. This session will be coordinated as in accordance with The NSBB Q & A Guidelines. From the Peoria Chiefs website: Birthplace: Durham, NH DOB: November 20, 1981 Bats: L Throws: L Height: 5' 10" Weight: 180 lbs Fuld was drafted by the Cubs in the 10th round of the 2004 draft after a four-year career at Stanford. As a member of the Cardinal, Fuld was a two-time All-American and a three-time all-Pac Ten First Team choice. He holds Stanford records as the all-time leader in runs and at-bats. He finished his Stanford career with a .335 average, 16 home runs, and 148 RBIs. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 24th round of the 2003 draft and played in the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2003, leading the Hyannis Mets to the playoffs in earning an All-League selection. He attended high school at Phillips Exeter Academy, earning preseason high school All-American honors from Baseball America in 2000. Sam holds the all-time College World Series record with 24 hits. The previous record was held by Keith Moreland. Baseball America named Sam the best defensive player in the Cubs 2004 draft class. Thank you to Sam for taking the time to interact with us on such an up close and personal level. Many thanks to Nathan Baliva, Broadcast & Media Manager for the Peoria Chiefs, for setting up the interview! As always, thanks to all of you for making NSBB such a wonderful community! :D
  18. http://peoriachiefs.com.ismmedia.com/ISM2/PlayerManager/360.jpeg.300.jpeg Ryan Harvey, the Right Fielder for the Peoria Chiefs, has graciously agreed to answer questions from posters on NSBB! If you would like to send a comment to Ryan, or if you would like to ask Ryan a question, feel free to post it here. The deadline for submitting questions is 12-noon on Wednesday, August 24. Once Ryan has had an opportunity to answer them, the responses will be posted in the Chats Forum. This session will be coordinated as in accordance with The NSBB Q & A Guidelines. From the Peoria Chiefs website: Birthplace: Palm Harbor, FL DOB: August 30, 1984 Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6' 5" Weight: 225 lbs Ryan blew out his right knee at a high school showcase in 2003 and missed his first professional season. He debuted in 2004 in the Arizona Rookie League batting .400 in two games before earning promotion to Boise. For the Hawks, Harvey batted .268 in 58 games with 14 homers and 43 RBI. He led the Hawks to the Northwest League Championship with four post-season homers in a three game series sweep. Harvey was selected by the Cubs in the first round in 2003 [6th overall] out of Dunedin High School in Dunedin, FL. Cubs top-ranked prospect Brian Dopirak and Chicago General Manager Jim Hendry are other Dunedin HS alums. Ryan is currently leading the Midwest League in home runs (22) and is among the league leaders in RBIs,slugging percentage and total bases. (MiLB Stats Link). Baseball America recently named him the "Best Power Prospect" in the Midwest League. Thank you to Ryan for taking the time to interact with us on such an up close and personal level. Many thanks to Nathan Baliva, Broadcast & Media Manager for the Peoria Chiefs, for setting up the interview! As always, thanks to all of you for making NSBB such a wonderful community! :D
  19. Thanks for the update -- and Congrats to the Jaxx!
  20. Several players have had their numbers retired by more than one team (though not always the same number). There's a list here. I think they'll retire #31 with nods to both Maddux and Jenkins.
  21. If you think that's bad, remember what happened to Rich Hill when he wasn't able to do finish his interview before getting called up. uh oh! Eric Patterson, at least, seems to be immune. He was batting .332 when the Q&A went up, and he's batting .332 now (with 2 HRs in the interim). So there! :P
  22. Theriot with a bases-clearing ... double? up the middle -- he goes to 3rd on the throw home! 3 runs score!!! Bacon scores from 1st, sliding beneath the pitcher's tag. There will be an error somewhere on the play ... on the CFer. Theriot credited with 2RBIs. Jeff Jones, the Mobile pitcher, is coming out of the game with an injury (spiked hand?) after the trainer goes out. Rusty Tucker in to pitch for Mobile.
  23. Victor Ramos gets the first two in the 7th, but then gives up a looong HR to Merrill. Next batter Ks. No win for O'Malley. 3-3 Middle 7 -- STRETCH TIME!!
  24. Fortunately, he's a big Cubs fan and he actually knows all about the DJaxx. :D I help him out with Wrigley tickets a few times each year. Ron, sorry if you've already mentioned this (I tuned in a little late), but is Sing just getting the day off? He seems to have cooled off a bit lately.
  25. O'Malley out of the game after 5.2IPs, 89 pitches, 2R, 2ER, HR. Left with a runner on 1B after a Coats error. Victor Ramos comes in; walks the first batter he faces; Peter Ramos lines out to Montanez -- nice running catch -- for the 3rd out. 3-2 DJaxx middle 6
