  1. Just a reminder -- the deadlines for submitting questions for the Chiefs players is Wednesday -- don't miss out! The Chiefs will be playing at home this Thursday - Sunday, so we're hoping that the interviews can be done over the homestand. Thanks!

  3. Thanks for taking our questions! I was at the Peoria game when Bill Holden visited and threw out the first pitch to you. They explained that you had been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when you were 10 years old. How did you and your family react to the diagnosis? Were there any concerns about continuing to play sports? What additional steps do you take to prepare and play a full season of pro-ball? Cubs fans have been active in JDRF fundraising, given Ron Santo's involvement in those efforts. Northsidebaseball.com sponsored a Q&A session with Jeff Santo and Tom Comstock, producers of the movie "This Old Cub", and coordinated fundraising efforts to support the Diamond Jaxx charity auction benefiting JDRF. Have you watched "This Old Cub"? If so, what did you think about the movie? (if not, it's definitely recommended!) Thanks -- and congrats on putting together an excellent season! It's been fun as a fan to watch you play CF for the Chiefs. :)
  4. There's a short clip of it on Mike North's website; choose sound clips and Ron Santo.
  5. Wasn't the length of Lowell's deal contingent on the Marlins getting a new ballpark? I have no idea what the status of that is.
  6. I like LHP days, and I especially like Pinto - Yepez days. :) Just a heads-up on upcoming minor league broadcasts ... On Wednesday night, Peoria will be playing the last game of the regular season vs. the Quad Cities Swing (Cardinals affiliate). Looks like that game will feature a starting pitching rematch between Mike Billeck and Mark McCormick. They were the starting pitchers on August 11 (Regular Link), which was a tremendous game. Billek took a no-hitter into the 6th and wound up with a one-hitter; McCormick lit up the radar gun and K'd 7 in 5.2 innings and also walked 5. Should be a fun game, and it's a day game for the Cubs. Friday, of course, features Ron & DJAXX in the broadcast booth and is mandatory radio!
  7. Rivera has looked great at 3rd. I think he played more shortstop in college, but he has impressed at third base moving to the line and also toward short. he has a strong arm and is improving at the plate daily as evidenced by a 4 hit game today From the broadcasts, it sounds like he's making some really nice plays at 3B. (of course, the only tme I've seen him play he made an error) The Chiefs have really been plugging guys into positions of need all season long, especially after Alberto Garcia (1B) got injured and Luis Montanez (LF) was called up. Nathan, what's the status on Ed Campusano? Did he wind up having to have surgery? The last update I'm aware of had him going on the DL in June with left elbow ulnar neuritis. Thanks!
  8. Good for Layden (since we knew Phelps was getting the call)! Pending any reinforcements, that leaves the Chiefs with one LHP -- Jerry Blevins. The bullpen keeps getting raided! :o
  9. The Chiefs playoff hopes aren't looking too bright. There are 13 games left to play in the regular season. And here are the semi-occasionally posted updated Gallagher stats. They might not be perfectly accurate, but they're pretty darn close. On the Season Overall GS W-L TW IPs Ks BBs OAvg OObp OSlg OOps ERA WHIP GO/FO 25 13-5 20 138.7 131 54 .210 .304 .321 .624 2.86 1.14 140-133 vs. RHs ABs H HRs Ks BBs HBPs RAvg RObp RSlg ROps 282 58 6 77 18 14 .206 .283 .301 .584 vs. LHs ABs H HRs Ks BBs HBPs LAvg LObp LSlg LOps 214 46 4 54 36 1 .215 .329 .336 .666 Month H/9 K/9 BB/9 HR/9 April 3.9 10.6 1.6 0.0 May 5.1 10.0 2.4 .2 June 7.4 6.1 4.2 .3 July 7.9 7.6 3.5 .6 August 10.3 8.1 6.8 2.7
  10. Eric Patterson is my favorite player!! My sister goes to school there and my dad sometimes takes us to games when we meet up with her. Welcome to the minor leagues forum! You should definitely check out the Eric Patterson Worship Thread. :D
  11. Mark_R is up, but given the fast turnaround (ie, he was on deck last night and is starter tonight), he may not even know that yet. If it's not up by 11, someone will spot-start it. 11pm central, right? No hurry, I just want to post the updated wildcard standing before heading to bed (and I'm on Eastern Time) Yep, 11 pm central. Do you want to do the spot-starting honors? Mark isn't on line and he hasn't even had a chance to read my PMs, so we might as well go ahead.

  13. Chiefs lose 4-2. Eric Patterson stole 2B & 3B on consecutive pitches in the 6th, though ... which was cool. 8)
  14. 4-0 Swing through 5 in Game 2. It's another 7-inning game.
  15. Thanks. That's what I was figuring, too.
  16. there were 2 walks...1 in 2nd, 1 in 5th...i missed one going through the box score...my scoreshee is too cluttered with lines and runs scored in this game! I bet! Nice to see the breakout offense again! :D I just figured I missed it. I've been having ISP problems, and the broadcast keeps timing out on me at the WORST MOMENTS (generally bases-loaded 2-out moments). Takes awhile to get caught back up. Do you see anything out of sorts with Gallagher? I'm operating on the theory that it's toward the end of a long season -- his first full pro season -- and he may just be wearing down a little. He's had a great season regardless of whether he wins the ERA title (though I'm still pulling for that over his last few starts!). Chiefs win game 1, going for the sweep in Game 2 (about 30 minutes)!
  17. His longest outing this month was 6IPs on August 4 (4 starts ago). Gallagher gets pulled after 4.2IPs and won't get the win. 8Ks, 3HBP, 2BB, 6ER, 10H, 2HRs I didn't hear what his pitch count was; he got yanked after the first BB. Francisco makes an appearance and gets the 3rd out! ETA: Per Nathan, pitch count was 103. The box score shows 2BB (not 1).
  18. Gallagher gives up another 2-run HR to make it 14-6 Swing. He's been getting hit hard lately. Through July, he had given up 4 HRs on the season (one inside-the-park). He's given up 6 so far in August over his last 4 starts.
  19. Chiefs lead 12-2 in the top of the 3rd, still no outs. Gallagher's ERA ---> 2.65. He'd have to go complete (7 innings, since it's a DH game) and not give up any more earned runs to get back to 2.55(2.55373, by my reckoning).
  20. Here's to a good outing by Gallagher! :pint:
  21. ouch. Thanks for the update! :)
  22. Chiefs lose on a walk-off HR given up by Mendez after he walked the leadoff hitter in the 9th.
  23. "It's called hitting, not walking!"
