  1. I can bid for you, Tree! Unless you spent all of your jersey $$ on the Cubs tickets. :mamoru: (I had to pass on the Thursday Cubs game because I'm going to the Friday game.)
  2. Well, mostly post-all-star-break. The All-Star game was July 12; I included July stats as well as post-all-star stats. Some of this did surprise me, and, from posts I've read lately, will probably surprise others. All stats should be as starters only. All stats are from ESPN.com. 4. Ryan Harvey hit his 21st home run last night and is leading the MWL in HRs and RBIs (86). He's the youngest player in the top 5 in MWL homeruns. player team HRs birthdate piepkorn DAY (16) 2/18/81 nicolas SOU (19) 4/17/82 touissant CED (17) 10/24/82 mwilson WIS (16) 6/29/83 harvey PEO (21) 8/30/84 He just took over the MWL lead in slugging percentage ... .002 ahead of second-place teammate Eric Patterson. (Luis Montanez actually still qualifies as MWL slg% leader, so the Chiefs technically have the top 3 in the league). He's 2nd in the MWL in XBH with 52; 5th in Total Bases. On July 8, he was hitting .258. On August 8, he's hitting .272. Per the Chiefs: I know he's also close to breaking the O'Brien Field record for home home runs :-) ... but I'm not sure what that number is. O'Brien opened in 2002, so it's obviously a recent record. This has been mentioned in recent minor league game threads: Harvey was named in the recent "Best Tools" feature in Baseball America as the MWL top power prospect. From the 8/7 Peoria Journal-Star: Cheers to Ryan Harvey!
  5. Sweet! THANKS! I wasn't sure you'd be able to track down a picture before the road trip ended. I was hoping they would look like the road jerseys design-wise (with the Peoria on the front). 25 = Ryan Harvey
  6. I think because of the silver? I do have a hilarious mental image of what these jerseys COULD look like. Which is why I'm trying to get ahold of an actual picture before the day of the auction.
  7. Too bad he can't pitch only at Wrigley. Good luck, Mark!
  8. Chris Shaver is off to a nice start in Daytona. 2-0, 3GS, 17.0IPs, 16H, 6R, 2ER, 11/1, 1.06ERA
  9. The Chiefs will be wearing black-and-silver Metallica jerseys (I'm trying to find a jersey picture to post) and auctioning them off during and after the game on August 11. Proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I think last time they auctioned off jerseys, the minimum starting bid was $75. I'm planning to be at the game, so let me know if you want any more info.

  11. I'll try the matchups today (feel free to correct me if this is wrong, Jon!). Iowa: RH Sergio Mitre (3-4, 4.60) vs. RH Harold Eckert (5-5, 5.23) West Tennessee: RH Carlos Marmol (3-2 2.98) vs. RH Josh Johnson (9-4, 4.64) Daytona: Game 1 LH Chris Shaver (1-0, 1.50 ERA) vs. LH Paul Mildren (7-2, 3.16 ERA) Game 2 LH Yorkin Ferreras (1-3, 6.81) vs. RH Allen Baxter (0-2, 6.10) Peoria: RH Jesse Estrada (5-9, 5.06) vs. RH Kyle Rogers (5-8, 6.36) Boise: RH Matt Avery (1-1, 2.28) vs. RH Brett Zamzow (1-3, 6.92) Mesa: just a guess! LH Mark Pawelek (0-3, 2.42)
  12. The few times I've heard Wood comment directly on this, he's seemed a lot more iffy on the surgery than everyone else is. The Trib makes it sound like a sure thing, though (as have other sources I've read).
  13. I listened to the first inning of the Iowa Cubs game and heard the same thing you did. Brownlie K'd the guy on a changeup, an "offspeed pitch" and a nice curveball. I don't think anyone knows anything more that that at this point. Hopefully you'll hear back from Ehlis. I've got to think it would be bigger news if Brownlie were actually throwing in the mid-90s now.
  14. Way to go, Sing! He's building up a lead for the HR title. Chiefs are one-hit and lose 2-0.
  15. Kometani has been giving the Chiefs all sorts of trouble. They've had one hit (a Drew Larsen double) through 6. Kometani with 9Ks, and he retired the first 14 he faced. He's out of the game after 6 innings. Eric Patterson is out of the lineup today for a planned day off. Ryan Harvey is DH-ing for a mini-rest. Grant Johnson pitched well -- 5 innings, 4 hits, 2R, 1ER, gave up a solo HR. 2nd run scored when Frostad attempted to steal 3B and Rick threw the ball down the 3rd base line for his 5th error of the season. One CS, and Frostad would have been CS with a good throw. Johnson's day is done. ERA now = 3.64. Inconsistent strike zone is causing fits. Jesse Schmidt (RF today) was tossed for asking how two called strikes -- one inside, one outside -- could both be strikes. Seemed a very quick boot, so Schmidt was infuriated, as was Mgr Julio Garcia. With Harvey DHing, the Chiefs don't have a 4th outfielder, so Larsen was moved from 1B to LF and Flowers from LF to RF (and Smith from 3B to 1B and Granato into the game at 3B). Chiefs get a nifty 9-6-2-5 putout to end the 6th. 2-0 LumberKings to the 7th
  16. But Carlos Z is the one with the goatee!!! Go Cubs!
  17. Welcome to the forums!
  18. Not looking good for the Chiefs; 6-0 LumberKings to the 8th. Blevins with a solid 4 innings of relief thus far: 2 hits, 1R, 0ER, 6/1 Chiefs weren't able to figure out Cy Bannister. He allowed 2 hits, one a bunt single. I'm out. Maybe I'll read about a glorious rally tomorrow. Game time tomorrow = 2:00 pm (broadcast starts at 1:45) for people who need their daytime baseball fix! :)
  19. Chiefs load the bases with no outs in the 3rd for Fuld, EPatt & Harvey, but fail to score. I missed the bottom half of the inning, but the LumberKings scored a run on 3 hits and a dropped 3rd strike. Weber is out of the game. Blevins came in with the bases loaded, but didn't allow any more runs to score. 5-0 Lumberkings after 3.
  20. Not a great start for the Chiefs. Matt Weber has a combination of really bad luck and a two pitches hit very hard in the first. Bottom of the First Aaron Smith at 3B loses a bouncer in the sun for an infield single Hulett's seeing eye single goes over the head of Eric Patterson for a single, runners at corners Hulett steals 2B Boggs (EPat's Georgia Tech teammate) Ks looking Emerson Frostad walks on a 3-2 count. Weber not getting the outside corner. Fasano doubles off the CF wall, 3 runs score. A great relay throw by Eric Patterson had the third runner nailed at the plate ... but Bernard dropped the ball (no error charged). Hurba doubles off the LF wall, scoring Frostad. Wishy Ks Susfield - infield single Washington grounds out. 35 pitches 4 runs, 5 hits 4-0 LumberKings to the 3rd Still plenty of time ... Chiefs threatening now in the 3rd.
  21. I was there, too. Harvey's power is impressive, as was the rope he threw to 2nd base from the RF corner on that leadoff double in the 9th. He has an incredible arm. I've seen him make precision throws to 3B and HP. It's cool to see him fire the ball back into the infield. Has he ever pitched before?
