  1. Chiefs win and sweep the Dragons! Fourth win in a row, and another shutout for Chiefs pitching.
  2. Driving up the cost of his jersey. (It's all good!)
  3. Sweet! Thanks. Wonder where he'll end up playing next.
  4. Everyone in attendance wins a cup of Culvers custard! That's a lot of custard. You can really hear the crowd roaring in the background of the broadcast ... it's cool. Chiefs put up some runs as Douillard gets a 2-rbi double that just misses being a grand slam. A couple of seeing eye hits ... including a bad hop grounder that ended up hitting the shortstop in the face (he's apparently ok) ... and the smash from Douillard. Now a wild pitch that almost hits scores another run; Eric with his second walk of the day. 6-0 Chiefs. Nathan, any observations on Nomar's running? I heard Oneri say yesterday during your broadcast that Nomar was happy with how he was breaking out of the box (and also impressed by Eric scoring on his single).
  5. Grant Johnson off to another strong start through 5, and Jesse Schmidt just made another fantastic diving catch and doubled another baserunner off (and got high-5s from Garciaparra and Johnson for the effort). Johnson just K'd his 7th, a new career high for him. Chiefs with a new attendance record tonight: 9,602. It's Thirsty Thursday -- $1.50 draft beers -- so the concourses near the beer stands are so crowded no one can move. ETA: Johnson with 8 Ks through 5 1/2. :) Harvey has all 3 of the Chiefs hits (a double and two singles) ... Chiefs have also drawn 4 walks ... Harvey also steals second base in the 6th.
  6. Awwww ... I bet Clement called/messaged to heckle Prior about getting hit by a worse line drive.
  7. I'm going to my first Japanese baseball game tonight -- the Hiroshima Carp are taking on the Yakult Swallows at the Tokyo Shrine. 6th row seats! SWEET! I've already been warned that eating peanuts and dropping the shells is considered disgusting ... and that (not to open any debates on this) =; booing anyone -- even the umpires -- is considered shockingly poor form. I have my digital camera with me, but I don't the connector cable to download pictures with me. I also have the use of a camera phone, but since I don't take the greatest pictures with the digital camera (stupid digital zoom) that I have, I'm not real confident that the camera phone will be much better. I wish I knew more about the teams and players, but I just found out about the tickets, so I'll be winging it. Full report to follow.
  8. The strength and conditioning coach wears #31. :-k You know, I wonder if buying a jersey through the silent auction will let you meet the player after the game. I loved the Boy Scout jersey auction in that once you bought the jersey you could go and meet the player to receive the jersey and get it signed. I enjoyed getting to visit with Murton and Shipman! This is probably completely irrelevant, but at the 45 jersey silent auction the Chiefs did, the winners went down to meet the players and get the signed jerseys from them. If these jerseys are to be signed, I'd guess it would probably be done the same way.
  9. The strength and conditioning coach wears #31. :-k
  10. It's not *just* the sunglasses.
  11. I think there's an old thread that might answer this question....does anyone have the link? it's gone :x What?!?! That was one of the best threads in NSBB history! [-X LINK Premium Link
  12. Nathan just said that SRO tickets are all that's available for tomorrow night ... so someone should definitely go for these tickets.
  13. Chiefs win Game 2 and sweep the doubleheader! Blevins with his first pro start and Phelps with his first pro save in Game 2. Chiefs also set a new attendance record with 9,004 fans today.
  14. Too bad the time zone situation for me is screwy; I would have made a sound clip of the interview had I known earlier. Just curious, but when will you be back in the states? Hopefully on Monday, August 1. I'm on standby right now. Well, I tried to record Nathan's talk with Oneri, but for some reason it didn't record the sound (though I can hear the broadcast sound just fine -- in fact, better than I can at home). Hopefully, the Chiefs can get it up on the audio part of the web site, where have some older interviews with Oneri and Jim Hendry up.
  15. Not sure if this was posted elsewhere, but Eric was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for July 18-24. LINK
  16. Fleita is on with Nathan now.
  17. Nathan said Eric scored from first on a Nomar single in the 6th, as well. 8)
  18. Too bad the time zone situation for me is screwy; I would have made a sound clip of the interview had I known earlier.
  19. Wow, that must have been a REALLY bad throw! Ha, I was thinking the same thing. :) Harvey has a heck of an arm in RF. Fuld (batting 6th today) goes 2-3 with a triple, an rbi and 2 runs scored. His average is up to .292, which is impressive given how slowly he started. I wonder if he and Nomar had a conversation about #5. :P
  20. I've heard a lot of lewd, crude and profane things said in the bleachers over the past few years, but Wrigley ushers/security people do draw the line at shouting racial slurs at people. The few times I've heard racial insults, the other fans reacted and the person was immediately shown the door. Just my experience.
  21. Doesn't look like Kat's around, so if there's a volunteer to spot-start tomorrow's* game thread, fire it up! *you know what I mean
  22. Congrats to Marmol! =D> From the link that DJaxx provided:
  23. My thoughts and best wishes to Matt and his family. I haven't seen the clip yet, but what I have seen looks scary. Hope he's doing ok now. I'll just ask that people post any updates and best wishes in this thread. It's natural that people would start talking about it in other forums after seeing it. Since the full extent of his injury probably won't be known until tomorrow, it would seem that updating this thread -- instead of any others where it's mentioned -- would be the best way to follow developments.
  24. Ugh, poor Matt. Hope he's ok. I know people will want to get updates on his condition ... if you could, please, post any updates to the Baseball Discussions thread on the injury, it would help. (Premium Link). There will probably be updates past tonight, so the ongoing updates on his recovery should take place in the other forum (since this is game-related). Thanks ... and best wishes for Matt and his family.
