  1. 2005 All Star Game Thread Starter I've been remiss in not naming the All-Star Game Thread Starter earlier. UMFan83 gets the call to start the 2005 All-Star game thread. Among his many personal and game thread accomplishments are the following: --his 4-1 win-loss record puts him among the leaders in wins and winning percentage; --his 3-game game thread sweep of the Dodgers kicked off a remarkable west coast road swing for the Cubs. It was the first game thread starter sweep of the season and -- until recently -- the only one. --his winning streak included such timeless classics as Maddux's 308th win; Z's 8-inning-one-hit-no-Decision Cubs 10-inning 2-1 win over the Dodgers; Koronka's debut; and Rusch mowing down the Padres in a complete game victory in which DLEE recorded his 1,000th career hit. --his courage and perseverance in striving to excel as a game thread starter despite the pain he's endured due to his abysmal luck in ever seeing the Cubs win in person is a heartwarming tale of hope that should inspire us all. Other Game Thread Starter All-Stars include: CTCubsFan, 5-4 Treebeard, 4-1 Thrivein05, 4-1 Outshined_One, 3-1 Roast, 3-1 (and making a mid-season run) The all-star game thread honorary coach and mentor is BHogg, 1-2 CONGRATS! =D>
  2. NSBB Game Thread Starter Sweeps (completed through 07/10/05) UMFan83: Dodgers (3) 5/30 - 6/1 Roast: Marlins (3) 7/8-10
  3. Chiefs score 7 times in the bottom of the 3rd, 7-5 Chiefs to the 4th. The pre-game interview was with Matt Weber (LINK). I lost about 20 seconds of audio around the 4 minute mark when the stream died out momentarily.
  4. Sweet. I thought I'd see Matt Weber tonight since he would have gone Friday, but looks like I'll get to see Grant Johnson pitch for the first time instead. Montanez will be going to the Futures Game, so he won't be available this weekend. Chiefs have an open roster spot (taken for one day by Rich Hill) and are carrying 12 pitchers right now, so, unless there's been a roster move, they'll be down to 11 position players in a DH league for the weekend.
  5. Is there a visibility problem at O'Brien? Seems like the pitchers can't see the signs recently. What's your worst roadtrip story? :o
  6. Thanks for the recap! He had quite a day. :D The Score has put up a sound clips page with some of their interviews. The interview with Murton hasn't been posted there (yet, anyway), but they do have a bunch of Steve Stone clips and some interviews with Hendry and Baker up.
  7. Maybe next time the tv info could at least happen.
  8. "manatee?" 4-2 Chiefs on a bloop Harvey rbi double 5-2 Chiefs on a wild pitch to the 7th Hill: 86 pitches through 6 10Ks Good luck, Chiefs.
  9. 3-1 Chiefs to the 5th on an Eric Patterson RBI single! People love the ZOOperstars. I've heard bad things about Birdzerk, though. I've heard Birdzerk is mean.
  10. 2-1 Chiefs to the 4th Harvey with a LASER BEAM HR (solo) Sadly, I missed how Montanez reached, but -- Montanez with some great baserunning -- he steals 2B, then kept getting an ENORMOUS leap off for each pitch, and scored on a Larsen single to LF. Hill sets them down 1-2-3 in the 4th, but no Ks. Treebeard is probably booing.
  11. I'm late to the Peoria broadcast and have to leave early. I know people have mentioned this game in the game thread. Rich Hill did strike out the side in the bottom of the 2nd. "beautiful curve ball ... that's impressive." :D 1-0 Timber Rattlers (unearned run) Just struck out the first batter in the 3rd. 5 Ks so far.
  12. Vance: Congratulations on winning the NSBB Voters Award TShirt for Service Above and Beyond the Call of Duty in the Furtherance of DLEE Winning the All-Star Vote by a Landslide =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> Drop me a PM with your address, and the shirt is on its way!
  13. He's been playing left field consistently. I was wondering the same thing.
  14. How did he hurt his shoulder?
  15. FYI - the Luis Montanez pregame interview can be accessed here: http://s24.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=22LT371YKXXRE3RE03LZYEMO7Z 3.14 MB, ~3.5 minutes There's loud soundtrack music blaring away for the first minute or so, then it stops.
  16. Gallagher lost. 3 runs on 6 hits. Sadly, 5 of those hits were in the same inning, and one was a home run. --Clifton Pennington singles on a ground ball to first baseman Drew Larsen. --Javier Herrera singles on a line drive to left fielder Luis Montanez. Clifton Pennington to 3rd. --Eddie Kim singles on a line drive to center fielder Sam Fuld. Clifton Pennington scores. Javier Herrera to 2nd. --Myron Leslie grounds into double play, shortstop Joseph Simokaitis to second baseman Eric Patterson to first baseman Drew Larsen. Javier Herrera to 3rd. Eddie Kim out at 2nd. --Jose Pineda homers (3) on a fly ball to left field. Javier Herrera scores. --Raul Padron singles on a ground ball to center fielder Sam Fuld. --Tommy Everidge grounds into a force out, shortstop Joseph Simokaitis to second baseman Eric Patterson. Raul Padron out at 2nd. 3 Ks, 7 innings.
  17. They have an awesome Daytona picture of Hill, too. http://ism.infinityprosports.com/Uploads/183/NewsManager/581.jpeg
  18. Apparently the I-Cubs scheduled games in New Orleans have been postponed, and they don't want Hill to miss a start. :)
  19. I think he just said that Rich Hill will be starting for the Peoria Chiefs tomorrow!
  20. ARGH! Fixed! You win some sort of prize, I don't know what. Too funny. I demanded that a lot of people proof-read this first, and none of us caught that. #-o
  21. Meh, 3-0 Cougars into the 5th. Gallagher bled by a few consecutive singles in the 4th ... then, after a clutch double play, coughs up only the 3rd HR he's allowed so far this year. Chiefs threaten a bit in the bottom of the 4th, but get wiped out by a disputed double play. Manager Julio Garcia is ejected for arguing that the throw had pulled the firstbaseman off the bag. When the ump ejected him, Garcia responded by ejecting the ump. The ump is still there, though.
