  1. To me, this feels like a precursor to other deals. I find it pretty hard to believe that they stood still all this time to go with Montgomery as their 5th starter. They said they weren't done improving the team, but I highly doubt that Duensing was the missing piece. Montgomery wants to start. This is Theo using Montgomery as an added trade chip to improve the team, and Duensing just replaces Montgomery in the bullpen. My guess is Theo has it all figured out now, and this is just the first domino. I'm guessing Yelich and Cobb.
  2. Karma is REAL!
  3. The only way Pittsburgh can compete in this league is to get good value on their trade chips, coupled with a strong draft and development. They waited too long to move the one guy who was the face of their franchise for several years. I don't know that anyone is scoffing at the return so much, as how Pittsbugh turned such a valuable commodity at one time to such a small return today.
  4. Seems like a perfect draft to trade down. Very few WR or OT's going in the first round in the mocks I've read. None really jump out at #8 while there should be plenty of teams willing to move up to that spot.
  5. A minor league team playing in a major league division.
  6. Hopefully we never see a play like that again, but unfortunately, it's just wishful thinking. Just like the Telvin Smith taunting play as he ran back his fumble recovery for a touchdown. The game isn't over. Save it for after the game if you feel the need.
  7. I only learned after the Georgia/Alabama game that Mel Tucker was the DC for Georgia. How does he get any DC job anywhere after what he did to the Bears defense? i'd imagine almost anyone who has nfl experience is considered a huge get in a college coordinator role, plus college and pro are such different animals in every sport. Yeah, Chip Kelley looked pretty bad as an NFL HC, but looked brilliant at OU. But, I was much happier thinking that poor ole Mel Tucker was standing in some unemployment line rather than working on the sidelines during the national championship bowl game.
  8. I don't think Trestman failed because of lack of NFL coaching experience. Trestman had 17 years of NFL coaching experience, including 8 years as an Offensive Coordinator, before becoming the Bears HC. Kromer had 12 including a year as the Saints interim head coach while Payton was suspended. Mel Tucker had 9 including 6 as a coordinator and interim HC. Trestman failed because he was a huge weirdo and because he had the worst DC I've ever seen. I only learned after the Georgia/Alabama game that Mel Tucker was the DC for Georgia. How does he get any DC job anywhere after what he did to the Bears defense?
  9. I prefer seeing this over sitting around playing video games and pounding nachos.
  10. Millenials. It's what's for dinner.
  11. Doesn't seem very realistic to get DeFillippo. But, googling coaching news, it seems as though DeFillippo wanted Fangio if he did get a head coaching gig.
  12. maybe he's very happy with the hire and keeping fangio as defensive coordinator would be the cherry on top that would make him super happy This.
  13. If they can keep Fangio, I'm super happy with this hire.
  14. And he's just bold enough to go by Dick rather than Richard. Nice!
  15. What was the delay? I would have sent him on his way at halftime yesterday. Yeesh that was painful to watch.
  16. Playing for the Cubs cut into hunting season. Playing for the Rockies should fix that.
  17. Yeah. I wasn't looking at the OTL column. Still too early in the am here.
  18. 32 teams in the NHL. Only 7 currently have losing records. Weird. 2 of those 7 are only a game away from .500.
  19. There just aren't enough Mariano Rivera/Trevor Hoffman type closers in baseball these days where you can just pencil in 40 saves for the next 4-10 years, so it's not really surprising to me that a guy like Davis and a 4 year deal is still sitting out there at this point. How many current top tier closers were closers 3 years ago? How many will still be closing in 3 years? That's just not something teams seam all that willing to gamble on.
  20. I haven't been paying attention. That douchebag Loria sold the Marlins? Who owns it now and in what way are they making a poitive stamp on the Marlins fanbase by selling off all the decent players?
  21. He'd have to have a real huge year, and even then he'd probably need Chili Davis to get hired as a manager at a big market team with a need to sign a RF. So maybe Atlanta decides to go with Chili as their manager and open the checkbook to bring back Heyward who wants to stay with Chili and return to his first team. In other words, it's not happening. Right! And even if he had a big year, Heyward seems like the type of stand up guy that knows he owes the Cubs for a couple of really lame years and honors his end of the contract. Why leave a team where he would likely have an even better relationship with his teammates, playing for the best front office in baseball and a playoff caliber team for the foreseeable future? Maybe there is a small window where he could opt out, but I just don't see it. I guess he was the one who wanted the opt out clause in his contract as it is a player friendly incentive, so there's that.
  22. In what realistic scenario does Heyward opt out? Even with a great rebound year, would he want to leave the team he has won a World Series with (maybe even a second one), and how much more money could he realistically sign for than what he is already getting with the Cubs that might not even be a playoff caliber team.
  23. So they have a backfield of Jay Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount, Corey Clement and Kenjon Barner and with a playoff spot locked up already, they elect to let their star QB run the football instead. I admire the effort, but that was a really costly decision.
  24. 5:53 of that video made me rewind several times.
  25. Where were you during the Obamacare battle? PJ and Chik-Fil-A were very loud against it.
