  1. Well, learn how to read first because this isn't a trade Prior thread. Secondly, I've probably made 5 or 6, with the last one being a month or so ago. What did Dusty do after Prior flipped over Marcus Giles and landed hard on his shoulder? Dusty sent him back out there. Just one of many examples of how Dusty has misused his pitchers. Exactly what would you expect to get from Mark Prior in trade if you were to just give up on him and now and make him available in trade? What will other teams give up for a guy no one knows will ever be right? Give a reasonable trade offer that someone would make at this time. Considering how poor his trade value is right now, why bother trading him? Is the player that the Cubs could net in trade going to somehow bring the Cubs back into playoff contention? He's either a sunk cost at this point as a low point, and becoming as dominant again as he was in 2003 as a high point. And then, there is also everything in between. If you aren't going to get anything significant in return for trading him, why not just gamble that he can at least get fully healthy with the potential to be an above average starter again someday?
  2. Darn that Goony guy for always assuming correctly. :D
  3. Goony worships the ground I walk on, so I'm not surprised. :D The streets and beaches of San Diego? That's true, I do. See, told ya!
  4. I think it would be hard to get motivated when the guy in charge of motivating you and making sound, practical decisions can't seem to motivate you or make sound, practical decisions. Last night late in the game, Nevin got to 1b. Dusty replaces Nevin with Murton. Not a bad plan. Actually a pretty good one. Cedeno first pitch bunts Murton to 2nd. Stupid, idiotic plan. It ended up working out because Murton ended up scoring in the inning, but what is the point of first pitch bunting after replacing the guy on 1b with a pinch runner? Couldn't Nevin have made it to 2nd on the bunt? Couldn't Murton have attempted to steal 2nd so that Cedeno could bunt him to 3rd if you're going to sacrifice? It's stupid decisions like this that, IMO, spread like a highly contagious disease throughout the rest of the team.
  5. No excuse for not wearing sunglasses on a day like this. I would expect something like this from a Cub outfielder, but a Brewer outfielder? Come on!
  6. Goony worships the ground I walk on, so I'm not surprised. :D
  7. Guess you've never watched a Barry Bonds at bat.

    Week 13

Verlander with more points all by himself than Johan Santana, Ian Snell, Derek Lowe and Anthony Reyes combined. :w00t:
  9. I wouldn't have an issue with this if they were open tryouts to replace the crap they keep running out on the field.
  10. By the way, Murton and Jones are both better players than Craig Monroe. A platoon of Craig Monroe and Marcus Thames? Probably not. But, Craig Monroe by himself? Absolutely.
  11. Yeesh. I was hoping someone would pipe up and explain that LaRoche needs to have his shoulder sewn back on, and Miller only recently had his shoulder sewn back on.
  12. He'll need to be traded for that to happen.
  13. I've been laughing at this organization for awhile now. I got a really good laugh last night when Dusty pulled Nevin for pinch runner Murton. First pitch, Cedeno lays down the bunt and advances Murton, something he could have just as easily done with Nevin on 1st. I guess there was no thought of maybe letting a pitch or two go by, hoping one hits the dirt. Or maybe even attempting to steal so Cedeno could bunt Murton to 3rd. It would make sense in that case.
  14. I think they should be able to get over it with the 4 easy victories they are getting this weekend Were the Brewer announcers also upset about the ump's missed call at third that allowed the Brewers to score the first run? I didn't see a tag. The angles I saw didn't show a tag. I also don't think he went out of the baseline. Maybe I missed the shot that showed that he was clearly tagged.
  15. I vote Zambrano for clean up. The Brewers announcers were none too happy about Zambrano's celebration as he circled the bases.

    Week 13

This would probably be as good a time as any to........ Zack "Cy Young" Jackson is available in trade. Stud All Star caliber player required in return. :D
  17. There's a useful stat. 5 ground balls to Koskie so far, courtesy of the idiots in the Brewers broadcast booth.
  18. Zach Jackson is pitching like Cy Young. Who couldn't have predicted that, however? Pierre has a 4th inning infield hit off the 3b.

    Week 13

Raw is not going to be happy with his pitching staff.
  20. This team is not going to miraculously become good. Changes must be made immediately. A good outing by Zambrano will only delay what must be done now. The people in charge of this mess must be held accountable. Excuses are just that. You and Bob are a much better man than I. My wife says I missed my calling in life. She says I would have been a great baseball announcer if I would have gone down that road. I beg to differ, because I tend to tell it like it is. You guys have earned my respect because you can still call a great game while biting your tongue from pointing out everything wrong with this organization. A day will come when the right people in charge will make solid team improvement decisions and this team will move in the right direction. When that day comes, we will be able to share in the joy together. That day is not today. I wish Zambrano a great outing, but it won't hurt my feelings one bit if the Cubs get shut out again today. Hendry should be made to stand before his season ticket holders and apologize and ask sympathy for tossing their money in the toilet. Afterwards, he should hand in his resignation. I know you guys watch these games everyday, just as I do. But, each person has their break point, and I am well past mine. Your predecessors had their break point as well, which is what basically opened the door for Bob and Len. It's a very tough job you guys have, but you have my full support. Keep up the great work! The Cubs organization also owes Bob and Len an apology for forcing them to go out over the airwaves on a daily basis and make poo smell like roses. I doubt that was what you originally signed up for. Signed, A lifelong Cub fan who hasn't seen a team this bad in his 42 years of existence.
  21. It was poorly constructed. But it should not be a .370 W% team. Dusty has gotten the worst possible results out of this group. They were never going to be a 90+ win team, but they should have been above the .500 mark, and even after all the injuries, should be able to flirt with the .500 mark. It was a horrible attempt to build a championship team, but this should not be approaching 20 games under .500. I don't disagree with you. However, they were in a position to build a championship caliber team. Maybe needing to make as many moves as the Cubs needed to make, asking them to be championship caliber might have been a tough sell, but they should at least be one of the better teams in baseball this year. Instead, they used a very poor approach on what areas they believed needed fixing and ignored the things that definitely needed fixing. I want Baker gone. But, MacPhail and Hendry need to go too, extension or not.
  22. Somehow, I guess I missed that one. Anyway, Bob was doing a pretty good Santo impersonation this game. He was pretty much calling these guys out, which they no doubt deserve. Honestly though, it's the management team that needs to be called out. You can't blame mediocre and bad players out for being mediocre and bad. They're playing like expected. Blame the guys who assembled a team full of mediocre and bad players.
  23. What blows me away is the fact he is still employed after all these gaffs. He should have been gone after 2005. And I do agree with Dusty, in part. This was a horrible, horrible team as it was assembled. If you had tons of minor leaguers, 40m+ to spend, a healthy free agent class and lots of trade commodity, and the best you could do with it is a horrible, horrible team, people above Baker need to go with him.
