  1. What's even funnier is that there are more infielders occupying the Utility spot than there are outfielders.
  2. I don't think Barrett is a bad gamble to resign to a 3 year deal. If he can't catch anymore, his bat would be very useful in the AL.
  3. Big season coming for D squared I like your picks in the infield. I think your outfield is weak. Pitching is okay.
  4. i didn't realize uggla and rollins scored so many points...geez. Rolen will do better this year, also. He's coming to camp feeling good.
  5. I have 4 of the top 31 starting pitchers. Adam Wainwright and Pedro Martinez round out the back half of my rotation.
  6. No love for my infield? 6th best catcher 12th best 1b 2nd best 2b best SS 8th best 3b
  7. I don't know the answer to that one. Was he sent to the minors last year or did he just go on IR?
  8. You're talking about all of these regressions, but not taking into account the players some of these guys replaced. The Dodgers had 9 different guys at 3b last year. A full season of Betemit at 3b should not be a regression. Jason Repko's injury opened the door to one of the kids. Martin replaced Toby Hall/Dionar Navarro. Ramon Martinez played 2b more than anyone else during Kent's injury. Marlon Anderson was getting starts in LF. Gonzalez is an improvement over Marlon Anderson. Gagne and Brazoban made it tough on the Dodger bullpen early. They went into the season with Baez as their closer. It wasn't until later that Saito took over, and I think they gave a look to Broxton before Saito got the job. Adding Schmidt and Wolf to their rotation makes their rotation stronger. Wolf and Schmidt will be better than Sele, Seo, Tomko and Perez. And I'm not sure why you think all those guys will regress.
  9. Apparently not. And it's too late to change minds now, because I just made a drop to get my team legal by moving Jose Guillen to reserve from IR.
  10. Barrett kicks AJP's ass. And hits him in the face.
  11. Understandable.
  12. But, what's legal? Players that are injured and not scheduled to start the season can or can't be on IR? Pedro is out until midseason. Jose Guillen's status is still up in the air.
  13. I would have offered you up a decent package for Jackson during the offseason. I'm probably not the only one.
  14. Is your roster legal?
  15. Thank you. I have no idea why you released him, but I'm glad you did. It was a tough decision, but since Gonzalez stepped up last year, Garko showed a lot of promise in his late season callup, and we decided against adding the second utility position, it just became a numbers game and Gonzalez strikes me as having more power. Had we decided to add the second utility position I would have kept him. It's not my team, but I would have ranked them: Jackson Gonzalez Loney Garko I'd move Loney up a spot if the Dodgers weren't blocking him.
  16. Fine...Adam and I each have two good 1B's. :P (and I actually have three if you want to count Vic) Well, last year I had none, so it's a start. My 1b's last year were Chris Shelton and Mike Jacobs. I couldn't get anything better than that because everyone is so stingy with their damn 1b's.
  17. I would imagine you can just keep your roster illegal until it's time to set rosters. You wouldn't be able to make trades while it's illegal, but I'm not aware that you have to make all your drops and get legal until just prior to the start of the season. At the same time, I don't see the harm in allowing players to go to the DL right away. It's where I put Pedro.
  18. I have 3 1b's. :D
  19. I would disagree that Huff should have eligibility there until he serves his 20 games. They are assuming that will be his primary position.
  20. That is my understanding as well. Same with Jim Thome. I apologize for not pointing it out sooner, but I didn't realize it until I was going through rosters after the draft. There are still some 1b's available via FA, however. I'm sure someone would be willing to consider a trade before the season starts as well.
  21. Gentelmen, police yourselves.
  22. A better rotation no matter what Zips says combined with full years out of Kent, Nomar (okay, maybe not Nomar), Betemit, Ethier, Martin, Saito, Brazoban, Billingsley is part of the reason they will be a better team. Pierre and Gonzalez were pretty stupid moves, but overall, they are a better team than they were last year. I will agree that the Padres took a step back.
  23. I'm pleased with my draft. With all the minor leaguers getting gobbled up while I still had many needs, I was happy to have landed Ellsbury. Getting Pedro in the 8th after Ellsbury was really sweet. But, all of my pitching prospects were drafted before I could get to them. I did screw up with Joe Saunders. I thought he was still rookie eligible and he's not, so I had to dump him. What's worse is that I got rid of a rookie to make room for Saunders. I wonder if Juan will give me a mulligan on that one.
  24. Wow. Plan on playing in the league championship with that team. Couple of moves I'd make with that team is dropping Murton, Milledge and Sanchez. You need someone that will play everyday at your utility spot. Murton won't be that guy. Milledge is blocked as well with Beltran, Shawn Green and Moises Alou. Sanchez might work in relief, but I doubt he sees the rotation this year unless some injuries happen. Maggs and Drew are injury risks, so I'd look for an outfield guy you can stick at utility. If you want a young guy for your bench, look and see if Alex Gordon, Andy Marte, Dustin Pedroia or Wilson Betemit are available. Those guys will play regulary. I'm assuming this isn't a keeper league, otherwise cancel the Milledge and Sanchez drops.
  25. Cedeno was rushed to the majors also. I think he would probably be a better alternative at SS than Izturis. But, I'd like Cedeno to get some more seasoning in AAA. Izturis would be better off doing the same. Unfortunately, one of them will have to be at SS on opening day.
