  1. There is a thread in the minor league forum regarding Veal's move to the pen.
  2. Per Rotoworld: Alex Rodriguez confirmed on his website that he's hopeful of remaining with the Yankees. "After spending time with (wife) Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization," A-Rod says in a statement. "Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness. As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. ... During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few days." So, A-Rod wants this and all indications are that the Yankees do as well. This might be wrapped up by the end of the week. Source: ARod.com Translation: "I want $350m and the Yankees are the only team rich enough to give it to me."
  3. So Mike Fontenot's 2006 will be better than Omar Infante's 2007. Cool! Hendry really is a genius.
  4. Couldn't the Dodgers have just signed ARod and hung onto Loney and Kemp?
  5. What's worse is that it really wasn't all that funny.
  6. i'm not sure the rangers should be laughing at anybody, considering how badly they suck Great minds sometimes think like me.
  7. They probably shouldn't laugh too loud, because they still suck.
  8. This will end up being quite hilarious. Not.
  9. Everything said so far is right on target. And you would think that the 100th year of futility would spark some interest in stopping the trend. How does one respond to 99 years of futility? Nah, we have no intention of pursuing the best player in baseball. We have our sites set on Omar Infante.
  10. He didn't just paint himself into a corner, they nailed him to the corner and put the refrigerator on top of him.
  11. Can we all agree that it would be an absolute brilliant offseason if all the Yankees do this offseason is renew contracts for Posada, Rivera, Pettitte and ARod to the tune of about a 40m payroll bump? Pettitte should ask for 25m if Rivera gets 15m. Pettitte was better than Roger Clemens last year, and he got that much.
  12. Also, to judge a guy's ability to play defense by how many errors he had is a horrible way to judge a player's defensive ability. There is an incredible amount of balls Manny doesn't get to because he's slow footed, take's horrible routes and gets himself into clumsy positions to make plays on fly balls. They don't hand out errors for misplayed balls that go over your head. Manny is a horrible fielder. The only reason he even plays the field anymore is because David Ortiz is an even worse 1b.
  13. Which is fine. I still think that a good GM should be able to sell Gallagher and Marshall plus Cedeno. I still think that a good GM would be ale to get more than Gallagher and Marshall plus Cedeno. That proposal isn't feasible. You have to give up a proven MLB product to get a guy like Crawford. Marshall isn't that. Hill is. Although some of you aren't going to agree with the idea. Maybe you're right, although I still don't know why they wouldn't want the young pitching to be under team control as long as possible. Hill has, what, 3 years of service time? Marshall and Gallagher would fall to about #3 and #4 on their minor league starter depth chart. The Rays want a premier player in return for giving up their top outfielder. You can't blame them for that. They want a Scott Kazmir type for Crawford. That's what justifies giving up a talent like Crawford.
  14. I stated this in another thread and I'll reinforce it here. Cubs management wants LH bats, which makes Murton's job classification in Chicago no more than a 4th outfielder at best.
  15. Could still sell high for Miggy. according to most rumor sites, we aren't even in the conversation for miggy. all i hear is Yankees, Angels, Dodgers I would knock out the Yankees cause they won't pay what is needed for him. Yeah, I giggled a bit uncontrollably when I read the Rotoworld blurb that said the Yankees are very interested in Miggy, but will not allow Hughes, Chamberlain or Kennedy to be involved in a deal to get him. To get Miggy, it will take at least 2 of those guys.
  16. Wow. Talk about a tremendous downgrade at one position.
  17. Isn't Patterson and a prospect a bit redundant? Patterson is a prospect. That's where I have a bit of trouble with this latest trade scenario. To me, I read Hill and Patterson (a Cub prospect). That deal would be much better than the previously suggested one. I probably wouldn't get in my car and drive to Chicago and kick someone's ass if that was the trade, but I'm still not fond of trading Hill.
  18. I didn't know you could smoke, snort or inject an Xbox. Yankee fans have been doing it for years.
  19. Bobby Hill and Matt Bruback for Aramis Ramirez Hee Seop Choi for Derrek Lee Both of those were salary dumps. I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't be able to see that if you're going to give up two very good, pre arb pitchers, you should be getting more back than a player like Crawford. He's good. He'll never be elite. If you're willing to part with assets like Hill and Marmol at the same time, you need to set your sights higher. Ha. You just said in one paragraph what it took me a novel to say.
  20. Trading Rich Hill, Ronny Cedeno and Carlos Marmol for Carl Crawford would most definitely not be trading guys while their value is high. Trading Rich Hill last year for some of the rumored guys would have been trading him high. Rich Hill and Carlos Marmol currently have high trade value, I won't argue that. But, if you really wanted to make these two guys available, I'd challenge someone to prove to me that they couldn't get more than Carl Crawford if you traded them separately. A 2nd year reliever who is practically unhittable and could step into a closer role has incredible value. I'd challenge that Carlos Marmol could net Andre Ethier or possibly Matt Kemp from the Dodgers. Not saying that a trade like this would happen within the division, but if the Brewers lost Cordero, do you think they would turn down a Carlos Marmol/Bill Hall deal? Now, getting back to Rich Hill, who has settled into being a quality #3 starter. I'd bet a lot of teams would give up a good outfield prospect for a pitcher like Hill. But, if you could get a Matt Kemp or Andre Ethier with Marmol by himself, why trade a good #3 starter (who has the potential to be even better than that) and another prospect for the slight upgrade? I'm not opposed to trading Hill. I'm not opposed to trading for Crawford. I really like Crawford. I am ridiculously opposed to trading Rich Hill, Carlos Marmol and Ronny Cedeno for Carl Crawford. That would be a horrible trade. Period.
  21. Yeah. There's no way Guzman is back that soon. Unless of course we have new miracles in medicine.
  22. Tampa is famous for asking for the world. Tampa is famous for not caving in on their demands. If the Cubs want Crawford, I'm worried about what the Cubs will give up to get him. Although Friedman hasn't really been too active trading, thats a Chuck LaMar thing. Hes the Director of Scouting for the Phils now. This is true. However, I'll stay cautious until I see what kind of deals this new GM pulls off.
  23. If you take away every inning in which he was scored upon, his ERA was 0.00. That dude is good.
  24. So you'd prefer disgruntled Jacque at 5M on the bench rather than Infante at 2M on the bench? Why? Because disgruntled Jones at least provides a little bit of offense to a team that is in DIRE need of offense. And I really don't care about whether someone is disgruntled or not. It's not like Jones can just go out there and try to suck, because his next contract with a big league team will be dependent on how he performs in his contract year.
