  1. I have officially been rickrolled twice now. #-o At least I didn't fall for that last one.
  2. Fukudome, Figgins and Roberts. Not bad...... But, where does that leave DeRosa? This super utility thing boggles my mind. Where does DeRosa get at bats? SS? Nowhere else, unless they platooned one of these lefty hitters, which I don't see happening. One of Roberts or DeRosa will need to be the everyday SS. Or could the Cubs offer up Cedeno, DeRosa and Pie for Khalil Greene and someone else from the Pads?
  3. It's 5:25 pm and warm where you are. Take advantage please...I wish we could. Oh, I'm taking advantage. I'm wearing shorts and a tank top. Life is good. Oh, and I just ate an orange right off the tree.
  4. Agreed. Unless Roberts or DeRosa would slot over at SS, I don't see that great of a match. Let's just grab all three of those guys: Bedard, Tejada and Roberts for Marquis, DeRosa, Marshall, Marmol, EPatt, Jake Fox, Ronny Cedeno and Matt Murton. :D
  5. I wouldn't do that deal. That's too much. Maybe something like Marshall, EPatt, and Petrick/Hart? I'm not sure the Cubs can afford to have 2 arms in a deal for an infielder. There are rumors of the Cubs also moving Prior, Dempster and possibly Marquis. They can't trade a chunk of their pitching staff without getting some arms back.
  6. It's hard to say yes when one of those guys is likely to be slated as the Cubs 5th starter next year.
  7. Rumor has it someone offered up the big cash and Fukudome could sign on the dotted line today. We just don't know who.
  8. Something needs to happen. I'm turning into a vegetable staring at my computer screen waiting for something to happen. Life is passing me by.
  9. Dubois was traded to the Indians for Jody Gerut. He may have ended up in Baltimore, but he definitely went to Cleveland from Chicago. Yeah, I'm just listing all the former Cub players that ended up with the Orioles. MacPhail likes his former Cubbies.
  10. Scott Moore Clay Rapada Luis Montanez Jason Dubois (I think)
  11. I might have to register there to warn them of the oncoming dangers! Maybe we need to trade them Jim Hendry, who is an expert on acquiring 2b's.
  12. What is this based on?
  13. Considering some of the other deals with the Orioles, I think it's about high time they get the short end of the stick.
  14. Personally, I'm hoping the two players are Marquis and Cotts.
  15. Given that Inge has a pretty sizeable contract and everyone in the world knows they want to move Inge, chances are pretty good that whoever wants Inge won't have to give up much to get him.
  16. Rotoworld was speculating that it was EPatt & Hill or Felix Pie & Sean Marshall/Sean Gallagher Eww. I'd do Patterson and Marshall/Gallagher, but not Pie and certainly not Hill. Rotoworld is not all that great at speculating.
  17. Yes, if the Cubs thought DeRosa was a better SS, the ideal thing to have done would be to switch the two. Theriot does not have a major league arm to play SS. And what you don't see in the box score is the infield hit that got on because of Theriot's arm. They don't mark those as errors. But, whether Roberts or DeRosa booted a ball that Theriot might have gotten to, Theriot isn't necessarily the better SS considering the runners he allows to get on base that just aren't marked down as errors.
  18. Super sub. He really doesn't have a set position, he could play everywhere. He won't start, but he probably could still end up with 300 at bats. Wrong. A guy with a .380 OBP should be playing everyday. Period. 300 at bats isn't nearly enough, unless of course he had 300 at bats and 600 plate appearances. I feel the same way, but I made my post based on what I think will happen, not what I think should happen. If it was up to me, we would be trying to get a starting shortstop, not another starting second baseman. But, Cedeno is the only true SS on the team. Theriot is a 2b. His arm doesn't really have the range to be a true SS. So, if we are going to play a guy out of position, give me Brian Roberts at SS and Mark DeRosa at 2b. IIRC, Roberts is a historically bad fielding SS. DeRosa or Roberts, doesn't matter to me.
  19. If DeRosa was a better option than Theriot, they probably would have done that last year. My issue with this super utility thing I keep hearing is that there really isn't a place for a super utility player to play regularly if they get all the guys they are talking about getting. For example, if the Cubs go into 2008 with: Soto, Lee, Roberts, Theriot, Ramirez, Soriano, Pie and Fukudome, the only place DeRosa would sub regularly would probably be at SS. And if that's the case, I like DeRosa way more than Theriot, so let Theriot be the super sub and live with sub par defense at SS, whether that guy be DeRosa or Roberts.
