  1. Euro, so that makes a bit of a difference I guess. Benfica just signed a crap load of u-20 stars including Di Maria and a few other Argentinians. Good luck with getting pt, Freddy. Keep your head down and work hard.
  2. Completely agree. So far Bradley hasn't been afraid to play young guys, hopefully that continues. Altidore turns 18 in November. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up.
  3. The latest from ESPN Soccernet mentions only Benefica, although I would not be surprised if they were completely clueless as that seems to be about par for the ESPN soccer coverage course. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=448251&root=mls&cc=5901
  4. Forget about Holland. Outside of Ajax/PSV/Feyenoord/AZ things get very physical in the 'Eredivisie'. The SPL would be the worst place for Adu. Worst. Surely not worse than Salt Lake City.
  5. i take it we're talking about Blanco? Yeah that's what I was talking about. My bad. Any other u-20's playing internationally other than Bradley, Zizzo and Ferrari?
  6. They should and will. it's also rumored that Celtic is interested. Benefica plz. He'd be just as stunted with Celtic as MLS. Too physical of a league. Portugal or Holland would be perfect. BTW - I didn't watch the Celtic/Fire friendly today, but on the FSC highlights he looked like the best player on the field. Shockingly not a stiff as I thought he'd be, but were the highlights misleading?
  7. Ha! No. I just realized this could be misconstrued. By "Ha! No." I mean that they won't be any good next year either (barring drastic changes or a Jim Edmonds/Scott Rolen Christmas miracle).
  8. Hat trick for Freddy. 6-1 US against the team that just beat the brazilians 1-0.
  9. USA up on Poland 3-1 in the u-20's. Adu has two: a beautiful turn with a shot across the box that hit the post and went in. Also a bender from about 50' that was world class as well. He has looked unbelievable in this game. Danny Szetela got his second in two games on a fantastic header that hit the top post and bounced in. Altidore has been alright, but Szetela and Freddy have me excited about the future. Bradley has been very solid as well. edit - Szetela with another; 4-1 USA.
  10. This is Luhnow's third year. His first was the Rasmus/Anderson/Garcia draft (our top three prospects). I liked your old avatar much better. Feel free to use it.
  11. Can't argue with facts, guys.
  12. This is Luhnow's third year. His first was the Rasmus/Anderson/Garcia draft (our top three prospects).
  13. All the best to him, but I just think he is too slight to be much of a factor. Gets pushed around too much. I suppose it is dumb to make excuses because we know the real problem is the lack of support for soccer by americans, but Chicago does have a huge Mexican population. Certainly enough to sell out Soldier Field.
  14. While I definitely agree with Truffle's overall point, these are incorrect statements: Pujols debuted in April 2001, Rolen was acquired in July of 2002. Jocketty engineered the 1996 and 2000 division titles pre-pujols. No wild cards and no third title.
  15. Nope. If they score its a rekick. If they don't score, its an indirect free kick aagainst the kicker's side where the infringement occured.
  16. Hooooly crap. Of course, while talking about the scrap heap finds, some of you also ignore that the reason he goes for scrap heap guys is because he's done such a damn good job wrapping up his payroll into superstuds that are extremely reliable like Pujols, Carpenter, Rolen, and Edmonds. This year, that strategy hasn't worked because for the first time since they came into the league, Rolen and Edmonds are healthy and not producing. It's impossible to accurately quantify the value of managers or general managers, because they aren't performing on the field, but to act like Jocketty wouldn't be a significant upgrade and the best available option is a joke. My favorite part of the thread was this: In the last 11 years the Cardinals have won seven divison titles, two NL pennants and a World Series. In the last 11 years the Cubs have won one division title (by one game) and one wild card. But did he trade for DLee and Ramirez? I hope you're joking. McGwire for TJ Matthews and such crap that I can't remember. Edmonds for Kent Bottenfield and Adam Kennedy. Rolen for Bud Smith and Placido Polanco. Woody Williams trade, Chris Carpenter signing, Pujols draft, 7 div titles in 11 years, 5 nlcs appearances, 2 pennants, 1 world series, etc.
  17. All tied up. IMB will prevail.
  18. In this matchup, there are no winners and losers. I will vote for the winner far into the tournament.
  19. No one forget this. Keep voting for tree.
  20. Well let's be honest, who doesn't?
  21. THE BOTS ARE HERE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO GET ME
  22. This matchup is a bummer. Although I've never met J-Shils, he is a friend of my brother in law who has good taste in friends and I also enjoy his music threads a lot, but UK is an unstoppable baseball posting force.
  23. You mean one-sided, right? I thought he meant you probably really hate one and really like the other. :? Yeah guy, I know what polarizing means. Who doesn't like Sulley? He's one of the greats. Sulley in a runaway.
