  1. Coke binge. These brazilians have issues in Europe.
  2. That kid cannot catch a break. Starts, gets 73 in and gets hurt right at a time when our national team is desperate for better options in the back.
  3. i don't think he wins one title unless he goes to a team with another superstar. you just have to sort of be born with it, i don't think that competite drive can just be developed. i'm not normally a guy to go on and on about intangibles, but lebron is the tin man. all the tangibles, none of the heart. This series, specifically this game was pretty killer. We shall see. Btw, who do you think is going to win it this year if not the Cavs? The Kobster?
  4. I disagree with the hyperbole assigned to both those guys. They both played on some serious squads. Then, when those squads were depleted, they struggled. What LeBron did in the playoffs two years ago, especially in the Detroit series, should be enough to see the killer is in there. I'm with you on the daunting task he has ahead of him to catch MJ, but Kobe and Wade? You lost me.
  5. he can be the greatest p[layer of all time like oscar robertson was the greatest player of all time. i will take killers. if anyone wants to say that i'm being subjective, well, okay, but lebron is not a killer. a great player, wonderfully athletic and dominant physically. he is a whirling dirvish with the basketball, a tigger, a bounder, a dunker, an incredible hulk, a man among boys. but he is not a killer. But you're assuming he will never become one, which is probably a sound conclusion based on how few people can compare to MJ in that category. I have to confess this is kind of m.o. I resign myself to stuff I don't like early so I can accept it when it comes and be happily surprised when it doesn't. I certainly don't want LeBron to win rings/ring. Let me say this though, Oscar Robertson played against bad white guys. He's like Babe Ruth where it's impossible to know how good he'd be in the modern era. I personally think he'd be a hall of famer, but he sure as hell wouldn't be averaging a triple double.
  6. Nothing of any substance according to Google Translate. So you're saying it isn't a public apology and resignation letter by the management staff for not playing the Jozy. I didn't think so. Villarreal was looking to rescind the loan and send Jozy to some other Segunda side last I heard... Geez...debacle.

  8. http://www.xerezcd.com/noticias.php?id=3700 Does that say anything?
  9. His physical superiority combined with star-friendlier rules. Lebron is a big boy, but Jordan had the referees cell numbers on his phone and would call them for hookers. He was very close with them. I doubt anyone, with Shaq a close second, ever got the calls Jordan got. At the very least, Lebron doesn't have an easier go at it. I suspect Wolf's talking about the hand checking restrictions in today's NBA. Jordan got plenty of calls, but he also got fouled harder than any star player gets fouled in today's game. Yes. MJ used to get assaulted every time he attacked the lane. LeBron is not only gigantic, he also gets the no touchy rules.
  10. They definitely still struggle in that final third. I was really pleased tonight with how well they moved the ball around. The stupid repetitive long balls were mostly gone and they really mixed things up. I know it's just T&T and not a decent European or South American squad, but it was good to see them pinging passes around a clearly overmatched opponent like they should have done against El Salvador. Speaking of decent South American squads... Bolivia 6-1 Argentina What was with this score? Extreme altitude combined with a great team not taking an opponent seriously and a manager with weak tactics and motivation techniques.
  11. His physical superiority combined with star-friendlier rules.
  12. Michael was waaaay more talented than Magic Johnson. Faster, stronger, jumped higher, more coordinate, everything. of any player who has ever played, i want the ball in MJ's hands down by one with seconds left. that's any player, anywhere, at anytime. i look at the league right now and i can't even say that about lebron right now. if i had my choice, i'd take both kobe and wade over lebron in terms of last shot. that's not the entire story, but that's a huge piece. who do you want taking that shot? or at least, whose hands should the ball be in? MJ 365. Well first, this is obviously a subjective argument and second we're talking about what we think LeBron can become vs what Jordan was, so that's just conjecture but I'm conflicted how I feel about what I think is going to come. On one hand, I'm a die hard Bulls fan who is dreading being the equivalent of a Pacers fan in the 90's. On the other hand, I love NBA basketball and LeBron is incredibly fun to watch. Well it's like a power pitcher who walks too many guys. Yes he has these abilities that could allow them to dominate, but they also lack the ability to harness it. There are so many different kinds of skills and intelligences that play into the make up of a player beyond just the ability to run and jump. My whole argument here is that I think LeBron has the combination that could propel him beyond Jordan as a basketball player. Will it happen? I don't know. Can it? Certainly.

  14. maybe not a Pippen, but Ilgauskus is way better than Cartwright/Purdue, and guys like Williams, West and Varejao are close enough to Paxson, Armstrong, Kerr or Grant to compliment LeBron. Plus, LeBron doesn't have the Magic Lakers, Isiah Pistons and Larry Celtics to contend with. He has the Dwight Magic, Kobe Lakers and the big 3 Celtics. Either way, most in this thread for some reason decided to forget how to comprehend the written word. Nobody is saying LeBron definitely will or already has surpassed Jordan. I'm just saying, it's a probability. Hand check rules, Jordan rules, blah blah blah. I love Michael as much as anyone, but there is nothing on the court that Jordan could do that LeBron can't. There are however some things LeBron can do that Jordan couldn't. The variable is the great eye of the Jordan and his thirst for domination. Does LeBron have that? Does it matter? We'll see.
  15. Turn on the correct channel and the correct time for the match you want to watch. Go to a soccer pub. Hang with soccer people. HD! I'm tentatively ok with all of this.
  16. This is what I took away among other things. 1) Putting away chances is what separates us from being a top side, or second-tier top side that is. It's what separates us from being a Holland or England level team. 2) Now that Mikey is more confident going forward and not just hanging back throwing his feet at people, I like Mastro as a partner. It's not double destroyer. It's two rough dudes, but one of them will push forward. Granted, this will only ever work with good wing play. Bradley needs to tailor it. Some sides necessitate going up the wings, some necessitate playing it on the carpet and doing it like a poor man's Spain. Hopefully Sacha will continue to improve and inter-changing he and Mastro for a couple years and then he and Edu will be what allows that. 3) CONCACAF sucks. Between our dog [expletive] draw, Mexico being dog [expletive] in general and our next competition getting blown off the pitch when we only finished half our chances, there isn't a lot to rep in North America right now. 4) Jozy and Ching make a really, really strong pairing. Best forward pairing I've seen for the MNT. Granted it's one game, but I think it could continue. 5) We have no flawless defenders. Every single one of them has something wrong with them. Carlos is prone to gaffe, Gooch too and also not the smartest center back, Pearce can't get a game, Cherundolo isn't super physically gifted, Frankie is but and is smart but has no skill, Orozco is young, Parky too small, Califf just bad, etc. It is beyond time to see what guys like Spector, Marvelle Wynne and Chad Marshall can do. Probably not much, but still. I'm looking forward to the Gold Cup this year just to see what those guys and guys like Danny Szetela, Benny Feilhaber, Kenny Cooper and Yura Movsisyan can do. Btw, when I called Sacha would be the next MLS guy to break through the MNT a la Clint, I was right. Now I'm calling Yura. Javier Aguirre left Madrid and has been waiting in the wings for a few months now. He's going to pounce and I'm not happy about it.
  17. I have a NYRB Jozy jersey I may rock.
  18. Bradley and Landon could have scored there, but they give it to Jozy (though the goal was a howler by Ince).
  19. jozy gots trix
  20. Jozy crossed that dude onto his ass.
  21. Landon Jozy yeah
  22. I must say that this whole Landon-Beasley left sided tandem is working out very nicely. They combine really well with the overlapping runs.
  23. Jozy burned that dude. He adds such a different dimension to the full squad. I've said it for months, but his name should be in Sharpie on that team sheet with Landon, Howard and Deuce.
  24. I really think this trial in Spain has turned Jozy into a hungrier player. He's showing a lot more effort defending and pressuring the back line.
