  1. My goodness, the rumor mongering is simply getting out of hand now.
  2. Except that at best, Hoffpauir is a first baseman/corner outfielder. All of the guys you say he's "battling" are either middle infielders or can play center field, neither of which Hoffpauir can do. There's no question the guy can rake, but I just don't see a spot for him positionally; there's no room on the bench for two first baseman/outfielder/pinch hitters.
  3. I'm not really sure, to be honest. I do know that in Japanese, names are typically written in kanji characters (see my signature), and that's how Kosuke's official website has it written. What've heard, however, is that they're just as often written in katakana characters, such as on that shirt. Someone better versed in the conventions of the language and the culture could tell you more. I would imagine, or at least hope, that a major apparel manufacturer and licensee of the player's association like Majestic did their homework on such a thing before putting the shirt into mass production (especially since I have that shirt :-").
  4. And not that I see that as problematic, but can't guys who have been reassigned to the minor league camp still appear in the "A" games? Doesn't it just mean that they've officially been eliminated from any shot at the final 25-man roster?
  5. Untrue. When he gets a good scruff going, he can carry a team for weeks at a time.
  6. If he pitches, does he throw the crystalball?
  7. So you're saying the umpire of love might have made some favorable calls for him?
  8. Fuku K's on a checked swing, Lee grounds to third, 5-3 on the putout.
  9. Sori thrown out trying to steal 2nd, Theriot walks. And now "Kosmay Fukudome" is up. Good lord.
  10. and Sam Fuld LAYS OUT for the catch in the gap. Buck flies to left, Soriano drops it, Buck thrown out trying to go to 3rd, E7 and then a 7-5 putout. Ellis flies to left. Barton flies to the gap in right center, Fuld "LAYS OUT!!!" and makes the catch.
  11. Soriano muffs the first play of the ballgame, then throws out the runner as he tries to go to third. Haha. Haha.
  12. Nor did he do any feet-first sliding.
  13. He looks sorta goofy doing just about anything... http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_448179.jpg
  14. Time for Corey Hart to sit down and apologize for playing way over his head last year.
  15. And sporting a John Kruk-esque physique. Great play on every level.
  16. Kroeger singles to right center, Ramirez scores, 3-0 Cubs.
  17. Ramirez doubles to the RF corner, 2-0 Cubs.
  18. Theriot singles, Fukudome walks (Fukupatience), D. Lee grounds to Weeks, both runners advance.
  19. And the 98 MPH HIGH HEAT for the strikeout. Thing of beauty.
  20. Melvin was toying with the idea of playing him at 1B when he's not pitching, but decided against it once the spring started.
