  1. Andy, from all the quotes I've read, inluding what Hendry had to say was that Santana always wanted to go to the Mets and he made it known to the Twins. I don't think the Cubs had a chance.
  2. I guess judging by the response I received from my initial post...ah, the answer must be no. I guess nobody has read it yet. lol.
  3. I don't know if I selected the right forum or not but I not too long ago heard that "Sweet Swinging Billy" came out with a new book. As you can guess I'm definitely interested...I'm just wondering whether it's worth it or not, to pick up a copy.
  4. I think we do something stupid like bring up Eric Patterson and start Fontenot/Cedeno at a 2B platoon with DeRosa in LF every game. And I'm not even that opposed to Cedeno/DeRosa against lefties, just the absurd idea that me call up someone for their versa-effin-tility becuase Jim Hendry lives in fear of games where our first 5 2nd basemen all get hurt. Much better to have that 5th string 2nd basemen/6th string corner OF rather than a guy who's actually proven he can hit the ball at the major league level. How adequate is Ward in LF? Could this mean a few more AB's for him? But I don't have a probablem with bringing up Murton.
  5. Depending on the extent of Sori's injury and what the Cubs do, Who do you think gets the majority of playing time. Anyone? Vance, what are your thoughts?
  6. Zamora, you kill me man.
  7. Hey, why don't we trade for Brian Roberts?
  8. So great to get that first win of the season. Wood looked really good.
  9. Hey I Know he aint no Brian Roberts but maybe we could just sign Jay Gibbons, and pretend he is Roberts. I mean they both juiced...although I think the similarities end there. Don't worry gang, I'm just being sarcastic. How about starting a "sign Jay Gibbons thread" --- okay, I'll quit.
  10. Yes, however, Lou complained about the way they were playing, not the results. There's a big difference. You don't want your team to ever play sloppy/non-fundamental. Spring training is played so that these things can be fixed. I see no problem with what Lou did. I don't know about what Ozzie said or did, nor do I care. I agree with ChiCubs. This was the point I was trying to make a few weeks back...although I wasn't doing a very good job at it.
  11. --I agree with Jimbo. Just because the deal may now be "dead" doesn't mean that the deal will never get done. I predict that right after Peter Angelos has a stroke, becomes incapacitated and is no longer able to meddle in the baseball operations of the Orioles--Baltimore will trade Roberts to the Cubs.
  12. He'll be in my prayers. Cancer is no fun-- especially the chemo. I had colon cancer in 2006, what a nightmare but I survived only to have the Cancer come back in a different part of my body this past October...hopefully God will help me kick this cancer too.
  13. If I remember correctly, after the first couple of ST games last year Lou got mad that they weren't playing good fundamental baseball Oh. Okay so they're both idiots. Wilson is right. Lou wanted to make a point to his players that losing wouldn't be tolerated (even if it is only spring training). I was referring to this in an earlier post a few weeks ago.
  14. It might have been me. I didn't stop at the stand, but I may have been heading back upstairs. My thoughts on Thursday were to get the heck out of town and, "Why is this last game of spring training taking three and a half hours?" Usually, teams try to swing at the first pitch on get-away day and have a two-hour game, but with minor leaguers pitching for both teams and most of the regular hitters in there, we were treated to a long day. But overall, a fun spring. --Yeah Bruce, it was definitely you. After you passed me by, I thought about yelling hi to you but decided not to. You make a very good point about the length of the game, and it was so hot on Thursday. Me and my buddies stayed for the duration of the game but I know a lot of people left before it ended.
  15. Was at the Cubs/Brewers game on Thursday and was walking by a couple of the concession stands, when I passed by Bruce Miles...at least, I thought it was Bruce. Hey Bruce, if you read this post can you confirm it was you? That game was quite the slugfest---- ending in a 10-10 tie. Cubs should have won it though because they had plenty of opportunites, the play that really hurt was when DeRosa tagged third base, ran home standing up and was easily tagged out. If he would have slid into home he would have been safe, and the Cubs would have ended up winning the game, and we probably all would have seen Kerry Wood in the 9th to nail down a safe. Bruce what were your thoughts.
  16. How about Matt Murton straight up for Brian Roberts? .....oh sorry, wrong thread.
  17. Yeah, I probably should have. I thought about asking him for an autograph but it looked like he was hoping, that he wouldn't be reognized. I should have told him that on NSBB, many people consider him to be a god.
  18. Hey guys, I wanted to tell you that yesterday after the game (a 9th inning Cub win!), me and my buddies were walking to our car, and guess who pulled right in front of us--- Geovany Soto on a golf cart. I guess it was a trainer who was driving him somewhere. Soto had already showered and was in his street clothes. Some of the people that were walking in my group, didn't recognze him but I told him that he had a nice game and he said, "yeah, thanks". Not too sound wierd but he's a good looking dude. I could have kicked myself but it wasn't until after Soto was out of sight, that I remembered I had a disposable camera in my pocket. Doh!
  19. Yeah Erik, I know. I take it that you're being sarcastic. As you are well aware, I'm just wanting a copy for my own safe keeping. I'm not trying to make any profit from it. Dude, I was just kidding. Lighten up. I couldn't care less if you tape the game or not. Relax Erik. I know you were kidding. I guess that will always be a problem with the internet, sometimes being misunderstood. Anyway, I appreciate everyone's help. BCVM, I guess I'll have to look into archived games when I get back to Kansas because (IMB) I can't believe I forgot to set my dvr/vcr ahead of time. Dang. Oh and BTW, the Rangers game was great. It was great to see the Cubs win it in the bottom of the 9th. Pie had a real nice game. Can't wait for Thursday's game against the Brewers!
  20. Yeah Erik, I know. I take it that you're being sarcastic. As you are well aware, I'm just wanting a copy for my own safe keeping. I'm not trying to make any profit from it. I'm sorry, but I'm still going to have to report you to MLB just to be safe. ---Yeah all right J.S., I see that I'm not going to get anywhere with you guys.
  21. Yeah Erik, I know. I take it that you're being sarcastic. As you are well aware, I'm just wanting a copy for my own safe keeping. I'm not trying to make any profit from it.
  22. BCVM, I appreciate the information. You are correct, CSN is broadcasting Monday's game--Santo will be on the Television side for that one. Game time I believe, is around 3pm (Central Standard Time). Thursday game will be carried by WGN. Again, I'll physically be at both games...so, I'm not sure how I would use a video capture program, but anyway, I'll look into it. Thanks again and happy easter!
  23. Thursday's game (27th) against the Brewers. Could I talk anyone into doing that for me? I'm flying out Easter Sunday in the afternoon, (OH BTW, HAPPY EASTER!) meeting up with a couple of friends in Arizona, and then attending the games on Monday and Thursday. I think it would be cool to have a copy of both games. If anyone does take the games, I would be more than happy to pay you for your trouble. Thanks.
  24. Send them both Koyie Hill and Henry Blanco for Freel. How about it Dusty?
