  1. --Poor Annie. She must be confused. Jesus doesn't lay guilt trips on anyone...that must have been the devil she was referring to. Now the devil, likes to lay a lot of guilt on everybody.
  2. This thread is such a joke. Most of the time people are posting about something else, other than a potential Roberts trade to the Cubs. Why don't the mods do a better job of separating some of these unrelated threads, from the Roberts thread. Why don't members just single out another thread, and do all they can to make that thread, exceed 200+ pages? Why does it have to be this stupid thread.
  3. Thought I'd try a little experiment. I didn't receive much of a response on the MacPhail on Angelos" thread but if I were to include it in the "Almighty Roberts" thread, then maybe, just maybe...some one would respond. Hmm. --- On the subject of Peter Angelos possibly nixing a trade of Roberts to the Cubs, this is what Andy MacPhail said: "Everything I've asked Peter to do, he's given me," MacPhail said. "I'm sure there are going to be times where I'm not going to get everything I've asked for. But I'm batting about a thousand now. I can't ask for more. The one thing I keep mentioning to Peter is, 'Look, you've got to let it be on me. If I [mess] this up and I don't get enough back, it's on me, and he needs to get somebody else in here.' " Interesting. I think it's exactly what many of us (if we were MacPhail), would say to Angelos. C'mon Petey, just say yes. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/base ... 5844.story ---I know it's been reported that Roberts doesn't want to be part of any rebuilding process and is actually excited about possibly playing for the Cubs--- maybe he should tell Angelos what's on his mind. PriorPower wrote: "Daddy, I don't want to play baseball for you anymore. You make it no fun for me."

  5. Yeah, I'm meeting up with a buddy of mine in Arizona and also another friend of mine is flying in from Maryland Sun. March 23rd (Easter Sunday) and the three of us have tickets for the 24th, when the Cubs play the Rangers. We'll also be watching the Cubs against the Brewers on Thurs. (March 27th?). Go Cubs!
  6. In some ways, I wouldn't mind having Sosa on the team but besides addressing the question as to where and just how much playing time he would get-- I think the real question would be, just how much of a distraction would he be to the Cubs. I don't think Sosa was ever considered to be a good teammate or a good clubhouse guy...so for that reason, I think the Cubs should pass on Sam-mee.

  8. ESPN's Insider is reporting that the Royals have said say no to signing Sosa. K.C.? Not a good sign for Sammy. He might have to end up retiring again. link: http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/features/rumors?&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fmlb%2ffeatures%2frumors
  9. Good job Ole Miss, I do plan at some time to use the Billy Williams gif, as soon as I can figure it out.
  10. What about Freddy Garcia? Was he injured last year? Does he have anything else left in the tanK?
  11. "are" Crack job of a med staff... Did you mean to type our instead of are? In that case you're wrong and Prior's wrong to blame the "Cub doctors", because Prior didn't just get the medical opinion of the Cubs medical staff but Prior was referred to some of the top specialists in the nation. What was the name of that top surgeon out of California? He performed surgery on a lot of pitchers in MLB. If Prior wants to blame someone, he can blame himself.
  12. I don't. At one time I did. Despite all the Cubs did for him, he didn't want to be hear. I say good riddance.
  13. You know, I remember seeing an interview with him last year, from time to time and I noticed he twitched back then but I didn't think anything of it...but man on CTL, it was so constant. It was a very annoying thing to watch.
  14. I'm sure he is heartbroken. --As I said GCG, his loss. Yeah, he'll never know what he missed out on.
  15. Hey somebody tell me what's the deal with hendry's mannerisms? He reminded me of a turtle, always cocking his head and jerking it from side to side. It was funny to watch. I mean, he doesn't have a mild form of tourret syndrome (sp.) does he? if he did, in that case it wouldn't be funny. Maybe all it is, is that he wears his shirt collar too tight. I don't know but it was unpleasant to look at.
  16. I was glad to hear that Hendry, at least inquired about Santana, but was told that Santana wanted to go to a East coast team, and play on a team that trained in Florida (close to his home). At least the Cubs tried. That made me feel a lot better. If Santana has no interest in coming here, there's nothing we can do about that. His loss. Whether we win a WS or not this year, Santana will miss out greatly, for not having the opportunity to play in Chicago.
  17. I'm curious did any of our NSBB members get their emails read on the air?
  18. There are reports coming out of New York (on ESPN News) that the length of the contract has become an obstacle. I guess the deadline is tomorrow around 5:30 pm. I for one, hope that Johan comes to his senses and realizes that if he waits, he'll get more money on the open market. I hope he nixes any posssible deal... hang in there Cub fans, you never know---it still might be possible. I'm not holding my breath but it would be pretty funny if Santana "just said no" to the Mets.
  19. The ONLY valid point he makes is that the Cubs were stupid to not go after Santana. If you enjoyed Couch's article (and I'm being sarcastic), then you'll really love this one by Mike Nadel. I read the headlines and I thought finally, an article to help make me feel better about the Cubs not getting Santana...wrong! Like Couch's article, I am now more pissed off than ever, that the Cubs didn't get Johan Santana enjoy: http://www.sj-r.com/Sports/stories/24415.asp
  20. And a lot of fans of other teams are thinking the same thing. Fortunately for your sanity our offers would not have been able to hang with offers from the Sox and Yanks. ---Yeah I agree with that Meph but (although I don't know much about the players that the Mets gave up), I think we could have offered Minnesota more. I hope Santana hates New York and asks it get out of his contract, and eventually files for free agency. If you don't know anything about the players involved, how can you possibly say we could have offered more? Those four players could be better than our top four prospects for all you know. I didn't think any Cubs fans seriously thought we were contenders for Santana's services. I was pretty sure we were not getting him when I heard we weren't a team on the list he wished to be traded to. That might preclude ol' Jim from trading for him. You might want to wait and think about it before you make that call to his office. --Chill out Penguin, I already acknowledged that I didn't know anything about the players that the Twins got. All I know, is that a 1-2 (Venezulan) combination of Santana and Z, would be pretty hard to beat. I want the Cubs to improve in their rotation so we can keep up with the likes of Arizona (Webb and Haren), not just Milwaukee and the rest of the division. I want a Cub team that is going to be able to dominate the NL, and match up well with the AL.
  21. He's to be on this Friday (Feb 1st?) from around 5:30 --6:30pm CST (I think). I'm sorry guys but I'm really pressed for time--I've got to be leaving for a meeting soon. Unfortunately, not everybody has Direct TV and can get Comcast Sports Net Chicago...but you can participare nonetheless, Comcast Sports Net is encouraging viewers to go to their website and send an email to Hendry. Again, I'm sorry I don't have to time to get you that link-- but if someone could do that for me, that would be great. I hope all NSBB members will email a question into Hendry and ask him some tough questions like: Why no Santana, and what's the hold up in the Roberts/Bedard trade?, etc., etc. Okay, talk to you later. I'll check this forum later tonight, when I get back from my meeting. Thanks.

I hope Santana hates New York and asks it get out of his contract, and eventually files for free agency. I am pretty sure this trade is contingent on the Mets signing him long term. Yeah I know. I hope the deal falls through.
  23. I'm meeting up with a couple of buddies of mine and we're going to watch the Cubs VS. the Rangers on March 24th (day after Easter), and on March 27th, we'll take in the Cubs versus the Brew Crew.
  24. I and members of my family are seriously thinking about joining up together in Chicago and watching the Cubs play the Cards, either Sept. 19th or 20th.
