  1. --lol. I'm on an "emotional roller coaster"...and I want to get off! Just say no to this thread.
  2. --Yeah, what Hoops said about Kerry Wood and Jon lieber being real close, is true. I remember thinking about this when the reports came out initially, that the Cubs were considering signing Lieber. A couple of years ago, I was hoping that the Cubs would trade or re-sign Lieber...but nowadays, I wonder how much he has left in the tank.
  3. I wonder if Roberts and Bedard will make a surprise visit to the Cubs Convention this weekend? (where's the quote button?) --- That would be awesome. That would be a Convention that no one would soon forget. I'm hoping Hendry talks Fukudome into making a suprise visit.
  4. How do I go premium?
  5. Link Yeah I posted that earlier in the day Vance. It proves that once again, Bruce Levine has no earthly idea what he's talking about. 0% chance of a deal being made? Yeah right.
  6. Sounds like fun. I think despite all drawbacks/hassles of being on your feet all day-- I think I'm going to try real hard to attend next year. Just to say that I've gone. I think it's a real good idea to form a "NSBB contingent". Hopefully Vance or someone else will give the rest of us, updates. Mark, tell my childhood hero Billy Williams, hello for me! Thanks. For the record, I'm not going. That's why I had the extra pass. I thought I would, but there's some situations here at home that make it the best choice for me to miss it this year. Yeah that's understandable Vance. When I realized that I had chemo the week of the convention, that really changed my plans. Not a big deal though, there's always next year. The 2009 convention will be a good one to attend because in 2008, we'll win the WS!
  7. Wow. I guess it's a little two late for me... ah, it wouldn't have worked anyway. You shouldn't have any problem getting rid of your ticket, vance. Hey maybe next year you could give us pointers on how best to secure tickets for the event. Book your room at the Chicago Hilton and Towers and you are in. I'd do it Red Ivy but I have chemotherapy this week. In fact, I go in tomorrow and Thursday. I just hope I don't feel crummy this weekend. But thanks for thinking of me.
  8. Go Hawks! Way to upset Michigan State!
  9. I just can't stop laughing...Tomy. Thanks. I'm definitely saving this, so that anytime I'm feeling down--I can play this video. I'm fixing to send this to everyone I have, as an Yahoo contact.
  10. hysterically funny (is there such a word?)!!! I can't stop laughing...I need to see it again. Mike Wallace too uses steroids?? lol!!

  12. "Ole Miss", I really like that new avatar you came up with. It's sharp. Not sure if I'll use it though, I'm still kind of like the old one that I'm been using forever...but as I said, I really like this one that you divised. Oh by the way...I don't read japanese. What does it say? Cubs will be great in '08? ---Hey Ole Miss, if I do decide to use it, how do I go about using it as a avatar? I really don't know a whole lot about this type of thing.
  13. Okay I know it's only Monday, but I'm getting pretty pumped up for this weekend. My weekend will mainly consist of checking Comcast sports. net Chicago for features and general coverage of the event, and then listening to the feed from 720am WGN. My question is: Is it too early to start this new thread and lock the old one?
  14. "The Cubs and Orioles are still talking, but some of the players mentioned recently are not involved, so don't believe the rumors... it's just a matter of finding the right match for both teams, and the reports out of Baltimore are that Orioles general manager Andy MacPhail has very specific requests". Not holding my breath for the Roberts trade but I wouldn't be suprised if it does happen. If not during spring training then possibly before the MLB trade deadline in July. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080113&content_id=2344931&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc
  15. Errors and fielding percentage don't always tell the whole story, but... Mike Schmidt: 313 errors in 2212 games at 3rd, .955 FP% Ron Santo: 317 errors in 2130, .954 FP% Brooks Robinson: 263 errors in 2870, .971 FP% ---Hey thanks for the stats, "Ole Miss".

  17. Appreciate your input "NC" but Tomy, wasn't Ronnie's fielding stats better than Schmidt's? I thought I heard that Santo's numbers were often compared to Brooks Robinson's. I think on the "This Old Cub" DVD, that Brooks says that Ron Santo deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Maybe somebody with alot of bucks (not me) could start a campaign, buying copies and send them to the members of the Veterans committee? That might help.
  18. Mike Schmidt recalling the game, where the Phillies came back to beat the Cubs 18-16. Forget about the game, what I'd like to hear from Schmidt is what (besides jealousy) he and other members of the Veteran's comittee, have against Ron Santo. I'd like to hear why this "cry baby" has repeatedly voted against Ronnie's induction into the Hall of Fame. I remember reading a story a couple of years ago and Mike Schmidt was bringing into question Santo's stats. Schmidt may have had more homers but Ron Santo was by far a better fielder, and a better overall third baseman. Just the name Mike Schmidt, makes me sick. Didn't Joe Morgan also vote against Santo? http://www.altoonaherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080113/SPORTS1402/801130344
  19. Just read a story in a Iowa newspaper, revolving around Iowa Cub Fest and Pat Listach (new Icub manager) was quoted as saying that Sweet Lou is planning on retiring after next season. Is that true? Did he say that when he was first hired?
  20. ESPNews is reporting that the A's have agreed to deal Mark Kotsay to the Braves.
  21. --As has been already been reported, a list of players and personnel attending the Cubs Convention will be released this Sunday. I thought this was interesting though... Quote from article: "Among the Minor League players invited to the Convention are outfielder Tyler Colvin, and pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Rocky Roquet". -- This also is note worthy... "Kosuke Fukudome is preparing for his first season with the Cubs by training in Hawaii. According to the Chunichi News, Fukudome and his personal trainer Hiroshi Nakazawa left Japan for Hawaii on Jan. 7". -- I hope they can talk Kosuke into taking a break from his workouts and attend the Convention. I think he would be overwhelmed. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080110&content_id=2343363&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
  22. Where have you been "Aramis"? I think this was reported at least a month ago that the Cubs were toying with the idea of trying Cedeno out in the OF. Mainly in CF, if it works out.
  23. Exactly right "pitchcs". I was only sarcastic in my response to "GoCubsgo' post about Podsednik sucking as a player. I'm sorry but I thought it was obivious.
