  1. Rays, Twins finish 6-player deal including Young, Garza http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3131988
  2. Now I understand why the Cubs have cooled on the idea of going after Kuroda. Hendry is such a idiot. "Now that Ryan Dempster is being given a chance to start, general manager Jim Hendry heads to Monday's winter meetings in Nashville with one less role to fill. "We feel like we've got a lot of depth," Hendry said, naming Kevin Hart, Sean Marshall and Sean Gallagher as possible starters after fifth starter Jason Marquis. --- Hendry. What a moron. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-071126cubsbits,0,5409449.story?coll=chi_tab02_layout
  3. Bruno7481 wrote: "Sullivan says Cubs are working on a two year deal for Prior. But said they would trade or non-tender him if he does not agree". --Actually, the article says that the Cubs MIGHT trade or non-tender him if he does not agree to a deal. It doesn't say they will. I do get a feeling that Wood wants him back and he thinks that Prior is working hard this off season to get back to where he was.
  4. Great news about Woody, now do whatever you can to sign Prior. Maybe Kerry should talk to Mark about loyalty.
  5. I would have preferred having Kendall backing up Soto rather than Hank White but oh well. Thanks for the sandwich pick Brew Crew!
  6. It seems the Rockies are interested as well. I wouldn't mind bringing him back to back up Soto but I think he prefers starting. Anyway, here you go. link: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20071115&content_id=2301270&vkey=hotstove2007&fext=.jsp
  7. "The Cubs are supposedly interested in Kaz Matsui, but I have not been able to confirm that report. From what I have heard, the Cubs plan to offer a three year deal to Matsui and play him at second and short...as for Fukudome, the Cubs are "very interested" and plan to make an aggressive offer to him. Personally, I think they will look to sign Matsui in the next day or so and use him to lure Fukudome". --This is an interesting website, take it for what it's worth. Nice interview with the Riot towards the bottom of the page. link: http://mlb-rumors.blogspot.com/
  8. What do y'all think the chances are that Hendry might make Infante part of some trade package to acquire more of a impact player?
  9. I have a question. Several media sources say that Fukudome's defensive skills are comparable to Ichiro's. I know Fukudome is said to have more power than Ichiro but what about his speed? Can Fukudome also steal bases? How fast is he?
  10. "vance_the_cubs_fan" wrote: "Well, I've a big decision to make. It appears as if the wife might be inclined to let me attend. The problem is that the Cubs Convention could be happening while the Cowboys have a home playoff game. I'll have tickets for that game if it occurs, and Cowboys playoff game trumps Cubs Convention. However, if I decide to go to Cubs Convention, I'll have $$ tied up in non-refundable plane tickets and probably a hotel. So, if I make that commitment, it would be hard to back out if the Cowboys have that playoff game. Of course, if I pass up Cubs Convention and then the Cowboys don't host a playoff game then, I'm gonna be pissed... decisions...decisions....decisions..." --- Yeah Vance you're really in a dilemma. If you decide to not go to the Convention, then I (and others I'm sure) would be interested in buying two of your tickets/passes. As much as I want to go, I can't justify paying $100.00 (or whatever it is now) a piece for a pass.
  11. Vance, Twiggy, and anyone else that bought Convention Passes...if you are unable to go--please let me know. I'm interested. Thanks. Oh and by the way, I just need two passes.
  12. Man, I wish I would hve known I could have gone online...or at least checked this website first--the fact that Vance and several others had windows open. So I guess the only choice I have is either stubhub or ebay.
  13. Keener98 wrote: "Depending on how much you want to pay, stubhub has tickets for $100 a piece". --Thanks Keener, that's an option...at a $100.00, plus hotel rooms for my sisters...I'm not sure how much they would want to go in with me on this. In other words, I'm not not sure I would have to pay.
  14. Finally got through at 10:20am by speed dialing 1 (800) The Cubs, on two seperate phones--- only to find out they had sold out. In honor of my deceased (Cub fan) father, me and my three sisters were going to meet up in Chicago, and try to go. I already have my hotel room...so, if somebody finds they can't go--- I definitely am interested.
  15. If someone still has tickets to sell I need 4
  16. As far as my experiences are concerned, Direct TV is far superior to the Dish Network and local cable. -- As far as WGN not reshowing old broadcasts of Cubs' games...if it's true that they taped over previous broadcasts--- well that's just being stupid. Games from 1969, 1984, 1989, and 1998 lost forever? Now how sad is that? This sounds like a question for Carrie Muskat!!! ...Muskat right? I know it's not Muskat.
  17. The YES Network from time to time during the off season will re-air classic Yankee baseball games, "Yankee Classis". NESN does the same with the Red Sox. Why can't WGN do something like that with the Cubs. I would love to be able to watch some of those classic Cub games from way back when.
  18. Hey die hard Baseball fans, treat yourself to a classic World Series matchup between the Dodgers and the Yankees. Played Oct.13th 1978. The game is being replayed on the YES Network (on Direct TV Channel 622). Don Sutton versus Ron Guidry. Dusty Baker against Lou Piniella. I can't get over how young both Dusty and Lou look...but I know. It's 1978. Geez, I had just started College. Both Baker and Piniella hit pretty well in this Series. As you know, Lasorda was the manager back then for L.A. but Bob Lemon, the manager of N.Y.? I thought Billy Martin was still the manager in '78-- I guess not. Was 1977 Martin's last season as manager?
  19. "Just heard on ESPN News, Buster Onley was saying that the GMs will discuss using Instant Replay in certain situations (whether a ball is fair/home runs, possibly plays at the plate), at the GM Meetings this coming Monday. What is y'alls opinion? Do you think the Holliday slide had anything to do with possibly reviewing the instant replay issue"? --- Was glad I could break the story on November 3rd.

  21. I'm suprised that nobody has mentioned Randy Hundley despite the fact that he was a Cub, Hundley was one of the better catchers of his era. Wasn't he named to a couple of All-Star teams? What was his nickname?
  22. It says that the Orioles are looking to trade Miguel Tejada. The article said that they are hoping "a team thinks he can play third base". Has Tejada's range/skills diminished that much? Between Tejada and Bedard, who do you think the Cubs would have the most interest in? And then of course the most important question, what does it take to get either one of these players? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors
  23. Just saw a nice feature on Chicago Comcast Sports Net. It was all about the Cubs hiring this "field guru" of sorts from the White Sox, to re-do Wrigley. This person-- and for the life of me, I can't remember his name BUT this dude is supposed to be the best in the business. Gail Fischer said something like this guy has worked on something like the last 4 of 6 World Series champions...so are the Cubs next?
