  1. This is most likely a bluff call by Hendry since most GM's probably know that Jim is blowing smoke up their a--
  2. In general i think most teams like to keep their trade proposals to less than 10 players involved :)
  3. Man that was nasty.
  4. Cher I just like the sound of it: Sammy and Cher
  5. The fact that it was really Sandy Alderson who was behind the A's success and NOT Billy Beane.
  6. At a glance, Murton looks like a right-handed version of Mark Grace so he will probably hit lots more doubles than that, but if Dusty actually allows him to get more than 500 AB's then i think he has it in him to reach 20 HR's.
  7. YES, for just the simple fact that Boston is in the O's division and teams are always reluctant about strengthening a team they will be competing against directly.
  8. Dont the Orioles still owe us a player from the Sosa deal? Tell them we'll take Tejada
  9. Maybe Julio IS in his 50's. You're never really sure about ages of some MLB players.
  10. Anyone know who the oldest major leaguer was?
  11. Freel and Pierre at 1 and 2 would give Derrek and Aramis easily 120 RBI's each.
  12. maybe the pierre trade was just a big hendry hoax?
  13. Mitre has shown flashes of brilliance, but his future success will all depend on his control and development of another pitch. In spite of the Cubs affinity for drafting and developing young arms, our system doesn't seem to be doing a good job with most of them. Let's see what he can do under the Marlins coaches.
  14. Lets face it, the Cubs probably wouldn't have much roster space for those 3 arms anyway when (and IF) they become major league ready. Hendry was dealing from surplus, but i do concede that he could've gotten a little bit more than Juan Pierre for what he gave up. The only thing is those other options probably werent available at this particular moment.
  15. There is no doubt that Maddux is still a serviceable 4th or 5th starter. My point is that Maddux should have retired while he was ON TOP. Greg was a #1 or #2 starter and he was still that 3-4 years ago, but now he is no longer ON TOP. Clemens is still good enough to be a #1 or #2 starter and that is why HE is still on top.
  16. Agreed. I'd rather see Clemens bow out now while he's on top than hang around too long like Maddux has done...
  17. INcapable of getting on base.
  18. Nope, you don't use sabermetrics to rip every signing, only the BAD ones.
  19. Yup. We really got a lot of mileage from that Stephen Randolph deal :)
  20. I'll go a step further and say that often GM's don't know what other gm's bid on players. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they share that info, isn't it collusion? (Mark Grudzelaniek, anyone?) I think if anyone would be sharing that information it would be the player's agent. "So and so is offering us X dollars and Y years. Can you beat that?". And it's okay for agents to lie, but not ok for gm's to tell the truth. there are still plenty of Bob Sugar's in this world.
  21. Leverage? Since when have the Yankees been concerned about driving the price down on any player?

  23. To sum up the rest of what "NO" doesn't answer: * Most people here think they know who they are * But some people still doubt that they are who they say they are
  24. hehe. i know that managers aren't allowed to be traded anymore but maybe MLB will give a special concession for us. Dusty for Bradley would be a great move!
