  6. Is Dallas Beeler hurt? He's still in camp, but hasn't pitched at all this spring.
  7. The union shouldn't. Rosenthal should. He should know better. He's essentially arguing that the Cubs be held to one standard and every other club another. The rule is stupid - Ken is correct. It needs to be taken out in the next CBA. But the place to fight the battle is when that's negotiated, not by filing a nuisance grievance over Bryant. How would you propose that the rule be changed? Serious question.
  8. It's not the 12 games that's a concern, it's the extra year Bryant has to wait to be paid fair market value. Right, and it would also be more than 12 games in order to keep up appearances. Maybe I'm overreacting to Tony Clark's comments and overestimating the power of the PA in this situation, I don't know. I do worry about a potential grievance. Could be irrational on my part. I don't even know if Bryant is part of the Union yet. They are almost as much to blame here as management. Edit: he's on the 40 man roster so he's eligible. Kris Bryant is not on the 40-man roster.
  9. Huh? Wonder who the second one is. Probably Ron Parker.
  10. Navarro is making $3m, Castillo is making $530,000. For the limited amount of time the backup catcher is even going to be on the field, that's a pretty good savings. Esp when you consider that WC could serve as backup DH in case of injury. Castillo is making $2.1 million for 2015.
  11. Capped out? Aren't the Cubs near the bottom in overall payroll even with the Lester signing? Pending any additional trades or signings, we're at ~$125 million.
  12. Except for the fact that Vogelbach isn't much of a power hitter.
  13. A player can be on optional assignment for some period of time without losing any MLB service time.

  15. I was a Buechele fan. Slick-fielding, no hit third baseman. Tony Pendleton without the bat. Terry's older, less successful brother.

  19. Very interested in your thoughts on Hannemann.
  20. If we don't sign Cease and lose that slot money, will there be enough left to make a meaningful offer to Gilliam or someone else post-Round 10?
  21. Why would anyone buy a cheeseburger with no onion?
