  1. Lord, when did this turn into the espn board? Its bad enough the team has gone to crap.
  2. I bet his contract is reworked to take less money next year and have an option for 2007.
  3. Has the Twins FO changed since they single handedly have nearly ruined Walker's career through lies? I wouldn't mind Lew Ford, he can legitimately play all three OF positions, lead off and steal some bases. We'd probably have to sweeten the pot, but for a cheap player like Lew it might not be a bad move.
  4. Player AB with runners on ABs with RISP Total Abs % Abs w/ runners on % Abs w/ RISP DLee 196 112 498 39% 22% Jones 256 160 502 51% 32% Pujols 229 118 509 45% 23% Clee 253 155 525 48% 30% Burrell 234 144 467 50% 31% Cabrera 285 158 519 55% 30% Delgado 207 124 434 48% 29% Those are oustanding stats, nilodnayr. Where did you get them? Just took splits from ESPN on the NL RBI guys above Lee. You can clearly see how far better hitters run producers DLee and Pujols have been. Really shocking to see how the bad luck Pujols has had, especially considering the Cards are #2 in the NL in OBP, with Ecksteins resurgence. And their revolving door in the two hole has been pretty good at getting on base except for Grudzy.
  5. I can't believe they're going to waste the window of opportunity they have with these starting pitchers (namely Z and Prior) still being somewhat cheap by having a complete imbecile running the team. Plus these next couple years are prime years for Lee and Ramirez... We'd better hope Hendry puts out a team so talented that Dusty can't screw it up... and that Hendry doesn't put any Dusty boys on the bench... Unfortulately, with Neifi likely on his way back (who, admittedly, would be a decent BACKUP if used properly), it doesn't look like that will be the case. 2008....  Worst news at 5 AM ever
  6. The game before the Sandberg number retiring, AJ was playing with the fans in the bleachers, kinda being a jerk, faking that he would throw balls into the stands and walking away, but then he came back out and threw about 20 balls into the stands and went inside, ten minutes later he comes into the bleachers, up through the entrance, and signed a bunch of balls and other stuff and took pictures with people in the stands for about 10 minutes.

  8. so what about a guy with no k's, no walks, and few hits? is he not as bad a problem? No, then you have a guy like Neifi, who also happens to be a big problem. But with CPatt, K's are a part of his problem. I get it. It's about OBP, Slugging, etc. But CPatt with his ridiculous K/BB ratio just shows me he has poor hand-eye coordination. His hand eye coordination is fine, its that little thing in between the two (his brain) that is whats wrong. His ridiculous K/BB ratio is a function of his horrible pitch recognition, which at this point doesnt appear fixable.
  9. What's the record for errors by a SS?? If Nomar can actually play 130 games next year, he could get it. Not if Furcal has anything to say about that
  10. I dont have Furcal penciled in, I hope he doesnt want to come here. How can the organization be so high on both Neifi and Cedeno, they really need to pick one back up shortstop.
  11. West Tenn still has playoffs to deal with, so we won't see any call-ups from them for a while more. We've already seen Cedeno, Murton and Van Buren up before September 1st. The only other guys who are on the 40-man roster in Iowa are Fontenot and Leicester. Ice had a real tough year, even if hes called up, he probably wouldnt get any time. Although I dont see how it could hurt. Id like to see Fontenot as our 25th guy next year, but Id rather see Nomar and Cedeno than him, plus I dont think we really need to see him hit in sept to decide if hell be a 25th man. But again, i dont see the harm in it.
  12. I remember those!!! They were scrumptious.
  13. You're freaking insane. Burnitz has to go. The least you could sign him to is about $4m, and you would limit your options to actually improving the OF. My insanity is fostered by an underwhelming FA group. In addition, you underestimate what I'd offer to have him come back. No self respecting ballplayer would take a pay cut from $5M to the $2M I'd limit myself to. Thus, he'd be as good as gone. So why even offer it, if it will make us look like asses? All that will do will ruin our already sketchy reputation with players.
  14. (1) C (2) A (3) C (4) C (5) C (6) B (7) A (_8) B (9) B, although Id like him to be re-signed to be a setup man/starter incase wood goes down (10) A
  15. Renteria got 4/43 (including buyout) OCab got 4/36 (including signing bonus)
  16. HE SUCKS HE DOESNT TURN AS MANY DOUBLE PLAYS AS OTHER SECOND BASEMEN
  17. Memo to SD, shut this guy down for the season!! Don't need him running into anymore outfielders. :D http://fantasybaseball.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_previousnews.asp?sport=MLB&leaguenum=&id=5543 seems to be doing much better, frankly id rather outbid on a sure thing than take a gamble on a bum knee Who's a sure thing???? good point but you know what i mean
  18. pray for mojo is also a commonly used phrase by me

  20. Who says? Id rather have two average defenders who are in the top 25% offensively for relatively cheap. Especially considering the offensive question marks we will undoubtedly once again be entering the season with in the OF. Ever notice the pitching and defense aren't that good either. Get Giles to solve the offensive problem. Walker and Nomar arent problems defensively (Walker because hes fine, Nomar because he hasnt played enough), I dont know where you are coming up with that. And yes, Giles is my #1 offseason target, I believe he is a MUST if we want to compete next year. But that does still leave LF open.
  21. Doubtful the Cubs will put up the money for Damon. The length of his contract will be enough to scare them away. Same goes for Burnett. Name the last guy the Cubs sign for over 4 years?? If they can get Furcal and Giles, and either Millwood or Weaver, I'll be thrilled. Id have to agree, after sosa the cubs are quite hesitant to sign longer term contracts. The only way I can see them doing it is for extensions for players that have at least a year under their belts in chicago.

  23. Heck, it could be luke warm urine and I wouldnt have given it a second thought.
  24. Well we would have said that about cedeno a hundred games ago too...JVB should be used as the #1 set up man and be first inline to take the ball on day three of save situations (you can stop laughing now) :D
  25. I like Neifi off the bench! I don't! He saved the Cubs after Nomar was injured. Are you being sarcastic? NO! What I meant was he did a great job of filling in, plus I like his defense. While he did fill in admirably, I would hardly call a 700 OPS a "great job. Maybe great for him, but thats not saying a lot.
