  1. All work and no play makes BalsaWoodKeyBoard a very dull boy. All work and no play makes BalsaWoodKeyBoard a very dull boy. All work and no play makes BalsaWoodKeyBoard a very dull boy. All work and no play makes BalsaWoodKeyBoard a very dull boy. No TV and no beer make Homer go something something? Go Crazy? Don't mind if I DO!!!
  2. Found this on a Twins type board and thought it was kind of interesting. April 12 - 5-4 (Jacque tied the game when he grounded out) April 21 10-9 in 10 innings (Jacque doubled in the bottom of the ninth, tying the game) May 10 6-4 in 10 innings (Jacque hit the go-ahead run in the top of the tenth) June 2 4-3 in 13 innings (Jacque singles, scoring the winning run) June 7 9-8 (Jacque singles in the winning run in the top of the ninth) July 1 7-4 (Jacque tripled in the last three runs in the bottom of the eighth) July 19 4-3 (Jacque singles in game-winning run) July 20 3-2 (Jacque hits walk-off solo HOMER in the bottom of the ninth) August 23 1-0 (Jacque made Freddy Garcia a losing pitcher with a one-hitter with a HOMER) August 27 7-2 in 11 innings (Jacque led off the five-run 11th with a two-run HOMER) September 22 4-1 in 11 innings (Jacque HOMER tied the game in the seventh, added two insurance runs with a double in the top of the 11th) September 28 6-3 (tripled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth)
  3. Now that we have Jones, I'd feel a lot better if we got Huff and moved Murton. I'd love to get Tejada, but I see that being more difficult due to who Baltimore would want. I'd like to keep Walker too. Walker, Jones, and Huff as your lefthanded batters sound good to me.
  4. I think in a perfect world there's only 2 Superman movies, 3(arguably 4) Rocky movies, 2 Godfathers, and one Karate Kid. Fantastic Comparison by the way.
  5. Tribune speculated Walker, Patterson, Williams, a minor league pitcher and cash might have already been offered for Lugo and Huff. How much is Patterson owed if we don't cut him? I'm assuming how much cash would probably dictate what minor league pitcher.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bradley and Floyd to tell you the truth. Then Murton backing up LF and RF with Bradley playing CF when you give Pierre a break.
  7. I'd be happy with that. I think Bradley in the middle of the lineup adds the power we'd need and Walker is a great option at 2nd. I'd be happy to let Cedeno and Murton get a lot of playing time and see what happens. I wouldn't mind another pitcher, but could live with seeing Williams as #5.
  8. Unfortunately the Murton platoon could be with a re-signed (at $1million) Burnitz. Sorry to say I could see it happening. I can't see Green getting over his injury problems and think his best years are behind him.
  9. A 1-6 of Pierre,Walker,Bradley,Lee,Ramirez, and Barret/Murton may be able to consistently generate runs. With such a lineup, I don't believe we'll see weeks were the Cubs score 4 runs in 6 games, etc. as often as we did in 05. I'd like to keep Walker too. I'm fine with him and Cedeno up the middle. I think that would be a good lineup.
  10. I'm hesitant. I don't know if Guzman will every be healthy, but you'd like to have one more season to tell. If he can't make it back 3 years after surgery than it's more than likely not happening. I'm kind of souring on Pierre. I like him as a one year stop gap if we don't give up too much, but that's about it.
  11. I think the expectations are totally different now that we actually have a core group of players that can be the foundation for success. 2003 wasn't a charmed year like 1984, 1989, or 1998 this team looked like it actually was primed for a dominant run. As such everyone is impatient and that's understandable. At the same time every thread that begins to discuss a rumor usually goes off into Hendry bashing in less than 6 posts. My thought is it's pointless to start bashing until the moves have or haven't been made. I like the relief pitcher signing because while we have young arms in the pen, by and large they haven't done crap. I think Rusch has some value. I can only rationalize the Neifi signing in my mind as Cedeno is going to start at 2B and Perez is just a security blanket in case he fails badly. I'm still reserving judgement until after I see who are OFs, SS, and 2B are.
  12. I'd be pretty darn happy with that. I think then you'd see Patterson and/or Walker moved with a prospect for Vasquez.
  13. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I remember his always being a 3B and there being a time when him and Texiera were two of their best minor leaguers, but both played the same position and they were looking to move one. Then with Texiera's D not being as good as Blalock, they moved him to 1B. At least that's how I remember it. I think that is a little steep for Bradley and Lowe, but I guess we don't know how desparate they are, only how desparate they're rumored to be.
  14. I hate JD Drew as a person, but if he could be a productive player, I'd probably consider him. Problem is I think he's as injury prone as they come and that kind of coin for an injury-plagued player is beyond risky, IMO.
  15. His bat does make him appealing. Not sure I'd like his pricetag. If we got Pierre for a leadoff hitter, then I'd be alright with Cedeno at SS and then trying to get some power from 2B to make up for Murton in LF.
  16. We'd definitely need a lefty power bat because if Walker and Patterson are gone, we don't have any lefthanded hitters.
  17. While there's a lot of rumors out there with our name attached, I think it does mean that Furcal is very likely. I think this would replace Pierre as an OF target as Murton, Pierre, and Cedeno wouldn't have a lot of power, so we'd be looking at Bradley and another OF with pop to make up for that.
  18. I'm not that excited about Wilson. If it's done with other moves, then maybe it's alright, but I'd have to see what those are.
  19. That would be Kizer Solesay, IIRC  Keyser Söze That looks right. Its tough to type when your hand is limp like mine.... From picking all those beans in Guatamala?
  20. I can see the deal happening, but not for the dollars discussed for Soriano or Furcal. Soriano is first and foremost an offensive player, but I think you could live with his D as being flanked by Furcal and Lee could cover up a lot of evils. I had thought we'd deal for Soriano, but keep Cedeno at SS if we got someone like Pierre to lead off. Then get the big bat in right and go with. Pierre, Murton, Lee, RF(Abreau?), Aram, Soriano, Barrett, Cedeno.
  21. I agree with Rocket Sauce that for $1million and as a 4th outfielder, he'd be great. I also agree with that.
  22. Does anyone think the Marlins might want someone like Cedeno included in the deal? Seems to fit what they're going for. Not to change the direction of the thread, but would you do Walker, Cedeno, Patterson, and prospect for Castillo and Pierre? If so, would you be on the phone with Nomar to welcome him back?
