  1. Oh freaking please. Sori has been on fire for a month. Agreed. JJ has also been playing well this month. Webb is a Cy Young award winner for a reason. The 3 Ks in a row were brutal though.
  2. Yep. I'd probably have Soriano Derosa Lee Ramirez Floyd Soto Jones Theriot Z But I'm pretty happy with Lou's lineup. Not going to argue, but I'd probably put Jones at #2 since he's been hitting pretty well and breaks up the righties a bit. Soriano Jones Lee Floyd Ramirez DeRosa Soto TheRiot Z Either way we're taking this one!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I'd like to see Hart, but I think Marshall is the longman and Marquis is still starter #4 when necessary. Everything else looks right. I think Ward will be the extra OF if he can go, as Monroe hasn't really done anything to warrant a roster spot. Outside possibility of 12 pitchers with Marshall, Marquis, and Hart with only 5 OFs and DeRosa an emergency fill in.
  4. Almost there! Great thread. I think Jock needs to move up in the order. Either #2 or #6. He's been pretty damn good lately. I think he'd be great for setting the table.
  5. Great thread. Feeling the positivity. I rationalized that the Cardinals backed in to the playoffs last year, as did Detroit, who got in as the Wild Card after blowing a huge division lead. Their post season turned out ok.
  6. No doubt. What was that all about? Jock should be able to score from 1st on a double. 2 outs the runners were going.
  7. Top of the lineup coming up. Probably a 1-2-3 inning for a pitcher who's thrown a lot already.
  8. Freaking Trachsel. We should've pinch hit for him in the top of the 2nd.
  9. You're telling me he was actually good at one point? September 30th, 1998 I loved that game. He's working twice as fast though.
  10. Got the game on WGN, which has been good luck for me. Got the TV down in the home office going, which worked against Cincy. Let's hope superstition holds out. Damn, we really needed another run that inning. Positives are Ramirez got a hit and Theriot got it going. Hopefully Trachsel can pitch a strong game.
  11. C'mon!!!! It's the freakin' Marlins!!!!!! Can we only beat bad teams at home? I can't take this.
  12. Great point. It probably didn't come out the way he meant it. I think he was just stating the obvious that it was harder to focus mentally with the games being meaningless.
  13. Depends on cost to me. If we can get a legitimate RF at a reasonable cost, then I go that way. Put Pie in CF and let Jones be a backup at all the positions (I think we have him for one more year). Otherwise, I'd consider moving Theriot to 2B if we got A-Rod and putting DeRosa in RF. While his arm wouldn't be great, I think DeRosa has shown he can play anywhere.
  14. I'd like to think Milwaukee is done anyways, but they've been fighting hard. If it helps the Cubs, I'll root for the Cardinals. (yeah, that is hard to say). All we really have to do is win both series and it's over. I'm not totally confident, but I'm getting there. However, I'd rather get some help and clinch as early as possible.
  15. Great point. I'm very happy. We should be able to do some damage the next few days.
  16. Since Lou likes to ride the hot hand, I'm hoping we see a lot more of Soto than Kendall down the stretch. Nothing against the job Kendall has done, but Soto has been awesome.
  17. How was that 3rd ball not called a strike? Heck they were calling everything outside a strike on Soto. This is killing me.
  18. My level of comfort in Cubs closers from first to last: 1. Marmol 2. Howry 3. Eyre 4. Wuertz 5. Dumpster 6. Wood I really would rather see almost any of the guys in over him. Moving him to a starting role where he sucked in the past isn't the answer.
  19. Excellent. If we can have a good weekend we can really put some distance between us an Milwaukee. Now let's hit the ball!
  20. Milwaukee gift wrapped it for us tonight. Let's try and score a few runs for Hill!
  21. Wife made dinner plans with another couple, so I'll miss this one. Hopefully lightning strikes twice as the last time I was this pissed off and threatening not to watch again they went on their big win streak.
  22. Not sure if I'm optimistic or not. I don't think it's a terrible deal as a veteran arm never hurts and I think Zambrano could use an extra day of rest to right himself (but that doesn't appear to be the plan). Sometimes it's the moves you don't expect that come out paying huge dividends. Either way if we can't get our bats going consistently, it doesn't matter.
