  1. We both know that is the current problem. He hasn't bounced back well from the surgery and is not close to performing as he did with Houston. I believe the Cubs front office is probably handling this appropriately. Let the younger guys play until/if Miller gets enough of his "stuff" and endurance back to be able to battle in the major leagues. I do believe we'll see him before the season ends.
  2. ah yes...I long for those as well. Dusty doesn't do himself any favors by not caring what crap spews from his mouth when responding to reporters and/or fans' questions. It seems that he doesn't feel that he owes the media a thoughtful response. I certainly hope that is the case, anyway. I'd hate to think that he is incapable of formualting such a response.

All, I've never really been a Bears follower, but I do need to know what you think about their defense. They are obviously hyped as being the dominant defense in the NFL. Are they going to live up to this? (yes, i have them on my fantasy team)
  4. no real need to delve into this again, but I can't resist....flip?
  5. War Eagle!...I hear that Washington State has a very good WR that would have gone in the 1st round if he had opted to enter the draft last season. My only concern about this game is that Auburn will be playing very aggressively this season on defense, and I fear that this WR could beat them deep if/when the Auburn D stunts at an inopportune time. That said, I think Auburn will win this one by 2 touchdowns.
  6. Indeed..and thus so is my fantasy team...twas a risk..and it looks like it may payoff.
  7. Vance, you are now the 2nd best WR in Louisiana. Drew Brees has to be hating this move. I actually like this move for both clubs. The Saints are deep at one position and that is WR, and they desparately need help stopping the run...well and the pass for that matter. The D is lacking. Stallworth had slipped to #3 on the depth chart per my understanding behind Horn and Devry Henderson. I follow the Saints (proximity) and the Colts (father's family lives in Indianapolis); I believe this to be a positive for the Saints. I don't think this is a good move for the Saints at all. Devry, while I like him being from LSU, is just not a legitimate #2 receiver. The Saints needed help at linebacker, but trading Stallworth wasn't a good idea. This is more a result of Donte falling out of favor with Payton than anything else. Do we know why Stallworth fell out of favor?

  9. Good thing speed never slumps. you can never underestimate the impor...
  10. hahhahah...I get the Braves game instead of the Cubs. That's a blessing me thinks. I'm tempted to go hit some golf balls before beerfest tonight.
  11. That may be, but I still get to be part of the pre-game ceremonies AND see the game for just $7! Now.... lemme get this straight. You're part of the group providing the entertainment...... and YOU"RE paying THEM to be there ??? You need a better union, no? I was thinking the same thing, Fred.....oh, or should I have just posted "QFT"..no probably not.
  12. can someone provide a quick recap of how we scored these runs? pretty plz.
  13. That's a nice line for Marshall. Any ideas when he'll be called back up to the big show? Do we even want to bring him back up and further tax his arm this season?
  14. Don't you remember all the times Sosa was booed back when he was hitting the hr's. We just couldn't stand that he had the audacity to challenge a white-boy like McGwire. Cubs fans really rallied around Mark in 1998 and let Sammy have it. But our inherent racism isn't all bad. It helped Todd Hundley feel right at home when, as a fanbase, we all supported him through his struggles soley because he was white. Boy, I'm dense at times. I was getting ready to bash you for this ignorant post when suddenly my sarcasm detector light clicked on. :D In light of that, well said. The batteries were totally spent and not just low on power, because the smoke permeated throughout that post. I agree....Cubs fans are on the receiving end of a great deal of abuse today.
  15. Don, Scott Scott, Don.....
  16. http://espnradio.espn.go.com/espnradio/show?showId=theherd If you look at today's "topics in review" on that page, you'll note the "Lovable Losers" discussion.
  17. He specifically made a jab directed at hardcore Cub fan teachers that "don't work during the summer and regularly travel 6 states to watch games at Wrigley". I'm not kidding...these were the exact words. What did you do to his oatmeal, Vance? Anyway, I agree. He's an idiot and to exacerbate this he does not put effort into the show. He's hurting for material currently, and pulled this POS discussion out of the trash. I have no problems with the media bashing the Cubs. I wish they would more often. However, putting money into the product is not the core problem. It's more related to a poor philosophy and execution.
  18. yep...agree that he provides no insight. WNSP, the ESPN affiliate, is the only true sports radio station in Mobile, so I do often listen on my way to work, lunch, and home. Whenever I need to take an early lunch, his show is still playing unfortunately.
  19. Did anyone hear Colin bash Cubs fans today? He discussed the disadvantes of playing in Wrigley and also stated that Cubs fans were the dumbest in baseball for perpetually supporting the team w/o receiving a quality product. Cowherd iterated that Wrigley is the main reason that Cubs fans have not and will not see a World Series. Day Games - he states that the Cubs are at a disadvantage b/c of the number of these games. He failed to articulate why playing day games are a disadvantage, but I can only assume that he backs many of the same arguments that have been made here. (#1 Players are sometimes accustomed to playing at night before joining the Cubs, and it takes some time to get acclimated to regularly seeing the ball during the day; #2 The Cubs regularly return from a road trip late at night and then play the next day at 1:20, etc.) Wrigley as the "national treasure" - Cubs fans (baseball fans for that matter) travel from around the world to see games played in Wrigley every year. A large portion of every day's attendence is attributed to fans that do not live in Chicago. That said, the Tribune does not have to invest a tremendous amount of money and put a quality product on the field to generate a profit. Cubs fans will blindly follow no matter how badly the team plays. Colin failed to metion that the Cubs have one of the highest payrolls in baseball. His fact finders could have at least made him privy to this piece of info. He sounded like an idiot. He was regurgitating crap that is spewed in the mainstream certainly w/o articulating his stance and likely without possessing a stance that is solid.
  20. I've been "roughing it" at my friend's lakehouse this weekend, and we never turned on a tv or computer. This is great news. BTW, has anyone mentioned that this could possibly make the Izturis trade a bit more palatable? I still don't want Izzy and Cedeno playing together in the MI, but Izturis would be an acceptable option at SS if we were to upgrade offensively at 2B. I don't feel quite as bad about paying Izturins 4 million next season since Neifi's 2.5 milliion is off the books.
  21. It definitely contradicts every other poll I've seen so far. They play each other really early in the year as I recall.
  22. that's legal in the states? wow...missed my calling.
