  1. yes, the Dawgs have received commitments from almost everyone on their recruiting 'Dream Team'...Lucky for Richt there is a lot of in state talent in this recruiting class.....One more mediocre season, and Richt will be shown the door.
  2. I'd much rather see Iowa get him than Bama.....of course, I hope he commits to AU on his visit this weekend.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised if Wright signs with the Vols....I might give AU a slight lead, but I wouldn't put money on it either way. I'm not sure AU signs Abdullah....Tre Mason did commit to AU today. If we think Mason will qualify, I think we'd probably use that scholarship for another purpose....or they could be recruiting Abdullah as a DB in the case that Roberson signs with Florida or Texas Tech.
  4. I think Auburn probably finishes with 1. Erique Florence 2. Gabe Wright or ????? 3. Brandon Fulse 4. Devante Sigler 5. Tre Mason or ?????? 6. Ameer Abdullah 7. Marcus Roberson or ????? Many of the Tennessee guys I've spoken with believe they are getting Wright. I heard he may have skipped a visit to UT this past weekend to attend the AU national championship celebration at Jordan Hare...? I believe he is visiting AU again this weekend. I thought we had a good shot at Ray Drew and Isaiah Crowell, but I'm almost certain we get neither now. Cyrus Kouandjio is still a possibility I guess...but not very likely. Roberson was very high on AU for a long time, and then he committed last week to Texas Tech (they hired his uncle). the next day he stated that his recruitment was still open. Roberson is making another visit to AU this weekend though, and I'm hopeful we still get him. Tre Mason would be a good get if he qualifies, but I don't think he will. I'm just going by what is listed on Rivals, but he made an 800 or so on his SAT. If he does sign with AU, they'll likely have to send his butt to a junior college (see Nick Fairley). AU coaches really fumbled by not going after Lane or Buie harder, imo. Now they are likely going to have to settle for Abdullah and who knows who else if they want to take 2 more RBs. I still think Brent Calloway ends up as a LB and not a RB. I'm not confident AU ends up with a top 5 recruiting class anymore...top 8 maybe.
  5. yep, Lane is a great pickup.
  6. any word on how this visit went? ...believe he is visiting AU this weekend. I still think he probably signs with Alabama since his brother plays there, but that's not a given at this point..
  7. Hulls has the hot hand early against Wisconsin.
  8. ...signs are pointing to OL Christian Westerman flipping from Texas to Auburn tomorrow at a press conference he has scheduled. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/blog?name=biggins_greg&id=6042190&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncf%2fblog%3fname%3dbiggins_greg%26id%3d6042190
  9. just glancing at this, we need to modify to reflect that we aren't paying Pena 10 million this year, right?
  10. That's definitely wise, especially when you're the Oakland A's, but what if you're the Red Sox or the Cubs and you have the money. Is it good to let the talent walk and get the picks and rebuild the back end of your bullpen over and over again? Truly asking... The difficulty I have with locking up Marmol for big years and money is that he always seems like he's one bad pitch away from having his right arm fly into the fifth row behind home plate. Plus, there are a number of guys in the high minors who could step forward in the next year or two who could provide quality outings for much cheaper than Marmol. Plus, I have to think Marmol's 15.99 K/9 and 0.12 HR/9 will regress next season. Relievers with big contracts always make me skittish. Marmol is no exception. Anything over two years would be difficult to stomach if his production falls off. agree, we are in dangerous territory here...
  11. Didn't the same thing happen at Alabama last year? Yes. And the Auburn fans ruthlessly made fun of Bama fans for doing it I think most realized it was sponsor driven, but yes....some Auburn fans did make fun of Alabama for this last year.
  12. ....going to be a lot of ups and downs between now and NSD, but I think Auburn will have a top 5 class....and yes, some of those walmart pictures are hilarious. Just to be clear though, this is an agreement between Dr. Pepper and Walmart, not something Auburn requested.
  13. that's what I've heard as well. Report out of Auburn is that he is staying now. Yeah, I'm glad he's staying. Hopefully, that means Westerman will follow but still not sure that is the case.
  14. that's what I've heard as well.
  15. Yes, he's there today interviewing. Makes sense regardless of what he wants to do. If he wants to stay at Auburn, today's interview will get him a nice raise. I'm hearing from a relatively reliable source that Grimes is back in Auburn this morning and will hear AU's counteroffer today.
  16. Hasn't he been pro since signing his LOI? He's obviously looking for a more lucrative contract. you guys are heelarious http://www.cenekreport.com/storage/beating_a_dead_horse.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1274642541111
  17. Yes, he's there today interviewing.
  18. I read his wiki as i wanted to know if he has any ties to Texas...which he does. Color me strange if you think that's strange.
  19. Hasn't Westerman committed to Texas? Yeah Westerman committed a while back but has since looked at Aubrun and USC when Texas let go of the coaching staff. He hasn't decommitted and his family has planned on moving to Austin too. His family was even wearing UT shirts during the UA Game last week. Also to note Westerman almost committed to Boise St prior to Texas and UT has since brought in Harsin as the OC. The rumors I have been hearing since last week is that Grimes in all likelyhood will accept the job, if not Wickline from Okie St is next in line. Grimes is from Texas, and Mack Brown has been picking young SEC coaches like crazy the past couple of week. Grimes though is Westerman's favorite OL Coach from what I have heard. Anything is possible but right now I feel pretty confident that he goes to Texas. Also Texas has not lost a single recruit from the coaching staff changes so far. His parents want him to go to Texas, but Christian really likes Jeff Grimes per my understanding. I'd be willing to make a small wager on Christian going to AU if Grimes were to stay. However, as you mentioned, Grimes if from Texas, he played for UTEP, met his wife there, etc. I think Grimes is going to take the position at Texas, and i believe Texas may also be offering an 'assistant head coach' title if he goes there. edit - His mother's parents live near AU, so I've heard that it may just be his father who wants him to attend Texas....anyway, if Grimes goes to Texas, Westerman will attend Texas.
  20. Mack Brown is trying to steal Auburn's OL coach, Jeff Grimes....hope it doesn't happen...not only because Grimes is a good coach, but because Christian Westerman signing an LOI with AU is likely contingent on Grimes staying at AU, else Westerman will go to Texas.
  21. Auburn won despite Cam having a less than stellar game. Fairley is a beast, and yes, he's a little dirty. He's only been flagged for 3 personal fouls all year though, the one last night, the blatant late hit against Georgia, and he was flagged for celebrating too vigorously against either Bama or South Carolina (can't remember which game). I was disappointed to see him push the Oregon players head into the ground, and I was also disappointed by the personal foul on Eric Smith. Other than that, I was proud to see Auburn's performance...the O and D lines made a big difference in the game. Mike Dyer played well at RB, and I look forward to seeing him back for at least two more years. Many have determined that Auburn is guilty of some large scale pay for play scheme despite there being no evidence. It seems most college football fans want Auburn to be guilty, and they have been scrutinized like few other teams in history. The NCAA, FBI, and even legions of fellow SEC fans have investigated and none have found even a minor infraction to this point. I think many on this particular board pointed towards Auburn's top 3 recruiting class last year as further "evidence" of wrong doing. Nevermind that they regularly crack the top 10 in Rivals recruiting ranksing. A top 3 class is a little out of the ordinary, but they are likely going to have another top 5 class this year...while under the microscope. ...who thinks Cam hurt his draft stock with this performance?
  22. AU at one time offered Kris Frost a scholarship. He turned them down saying he would eventually sign with Michigan. Once Rich Rod got the boot, Frost determined he wanted to attend AU. I am 99% sure that Auburn will make room for Frost. They are likely going to rescind the scholly offer from one of the individuals who have an offer but haven't yet committed.
  23. What's the budget for this year's class? You're right. they are probably paying these guys for their commitments since they would be able to do so without anyone suspecting.
  24. Game day is here. Also, Auburn picked up a 5* and two 4*s over the past few days. If the next few weeks go as expected, they will likely end up with another top 5 recruiting class. War Eagle!
  25. Les 'gets it done', because he's a great recruiter....he 'get's it done' in spite of his in-game decision making.
