  1. ah, quality post. so you know they are doing something wrong, but you just aren't sure exactly what they're doing, but you're very sure of yourself. AU alumni are pretty damn brazen to continue paying these guys like Zeke Pike, spitting face of the NCAA in the middle of an investigation. I'm not saying it's not still happening, because I don't know what's going on....but I was hoping you could provide some details since you're so confident.
  2. hahaha lmao...ok, the 'perpetual mudslinging' post probably deserved to be mocked, but BtB, you're just riding SSRs coattails around this thread, patting him on the back. you can do better. For what it's worth, I'm sure Auburn University has or had boosters that would be willing to pay players....However, I don't believe Auburn University athletic department has orchestrated a pay for play scheme, nor have I seen evidence to this point that any of the accusations, even those made by disgruntled Chaz Ramsey, are going to stick. There's much I can say about your willful ignorance to the goings-on in Auburn football that hasn't already been said. So I laugh. Hey man, if you can provide specifics, name names, tell me what is happening at AU. I've said that I believe that boosters have paid players in the past. I've admitted that AU has recruited some questionable characters.

  4. Sounds like he's picking Auburn. I'm sure his parents are about $180,000 richer... He isn't considering Mississippi State per my understanding.
  5. Consensus top 3 QB (5 star) recruit Zeke Pike will choose between Michigan, Purdue, and Auburn tomorrow. edit - Arkansas may also still be in the mix...anyway, i'm hearing he will commit to a team tomorrow.
  6. smokies will be coming to Mobile for 5 game series beginning may 3....looking forward to it.
  7. hmm...I wonder what the head coordinator does..
  8. Thanks. I was trying to find a way to make fun of that. you guys are weak. you've failed to mention that Chaz Ramsey intends to speak with the NCAA about the assertions he made on HBO. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6346924 When I come to this thread, I expect weaknesses to be picked apart, salt to be rubbed in wounds. Please don't disappoint. Show me something that is going to merit Auburn's national championship being vacated. this kid will either need security detail or to transfer, and probably both.
  9. The history Auburn and Alabama have with respect to infractions has much do with the intense, perpetual mudslinging between fans of the two schools. Very little that is questionable slides through unnoticed. Yes, I too believe that Auburn and Alabama are 2 of the cleanest programs in the country. I hear Auburn is also doing rather well in the Fullmer Cup this year: http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2011/3/11/2044789/fulmer-cupdate-auburn-goes-all-in-the-front-door-with-a-gun doing rather well? It's called domination this year. three counts of armed robbery and one count of whatever the getaway man was charged with. I don't care to see a scholars bowl team on the field, but the armed robbery [expletive] is definitely embarrasing. I guess you missed this conversation a few pages ago?

  11. Maybe English is his second language and that was his implication. true...probably picking nits.
  12. yep, best for a guy making 18 million dollars a year, providing about 8 million dollars a year worth of utility to refrain from making comments about 'wanting to play harder' for his new manager. I'm pleased that guys seemingly are more comfortable with Quade though.
  13. IU should take a big step out of the cellar this year....so that is exciting.
  14. Are you one of those unconditional optimists? No, but I think the division is our for the taking if this team gels like it has the ability to do. That being said, we could end up being crappy, but there are good signs thus far. they will have to score a few more runs/game for me to 'fall in love with this team'.
  15. yeah, i'm just glancing at gamecast while on a conference call, but he definitely came through and made me smile that inning....
  16. I didn't watch the HBO special, and my work has been too crazy for me to delve too deeply into football message boards. Were specific boosters named? The two most recent players fall within the NCAA's statute of limitations, so if there is evidence of wrongdoing by a booster, then AU could have scholarships reduced, be put on probation, etc. Even if a football coach, his staff, and the athletic department are running a clean program, i have no idea how one is able to police rogue boosters. (not sure if that is the category this would fall into or not without watching the show) I'll have to 'On Demand' the special sometime this weekend. None of the players were on the championship team last year, obviously, so that isn't a concern with these allegations. All of the black smoke surrounding the football program is troubling...watching a solid, competitive football team is a lot of fun though...difficult for me to resolve internally being a morally challenged Southerner and all...
  17. good lord, at least we're all homers, not just me. "It was a beautiful day" is what people are taking issue with. I'm sure they were just having a normal practice until they killed the dude.
  18. You don't think that would make him a complete idiot? Doing something morally questionable but legal doesn't make one an idiot, certainly not a complete idiot. We're just speculating at this point, anyway. We don't know whether Byrd is using anything that could be banned one day.
  19. ...if they were that strapped for cash, then I'd have to consider this more proof that AU doesn't pay players...but seriously..armed robbery? It's a shame that some kids don't make the most of the opportunity given to them and instead resort to this type of thuggish behavior. I hope they rot in jail for scaring the hell out of their victims and embarassing the AU family. Let's stay out of the news unless it's regarding winning football games or being charitable or such, howaboudit? McNeil was the only starter, and he will be missed during the first part of 2011. AU has a couple of highly rated incoming safety candidates and won't be contending for a conference championship in 2011 anyway. Losing McNeil for the 2011 season will actually help the 2012 team by getting those younger guys some additional experience. Armed robbery....that crap is embarrasing. That's not just a lapse in judgement. That's a significant mark against Chizik on my scorecard even though he acted swiftly.
  20. ....or Moore being discredited is just further evidence of the NCAA's massive cover up operation that is protecting AU. a smart man would have let it die when you guys started talking about Oregon and Ohio State...not me.
  21. WZZN 97.7 fired Scott Moore today. The tapes Moore referenced (if they exist) evidently don't include the content he mentioned.
  22. So anything new regarding the Cowherd comments earlier this week? Cowerd understands that people want scandal...he understands that discussions about mysterious, looming NCAA sanctions increase short term viewership.....or maybe there really was something behind his comments...
  23. I'm setting the O/U on the amount of errors the Cubs commit today at 3.
  24. I hope he sticks...watching him pitch those first couple of years was a lot of fun.
  25. no 2011 game thread starter discussion either....i've never signed up to start a game thread, but this is another sign that the Cubs have lost some of the interest from those on this board....or maybe people are posting elsewhere..dunno.
