  1. I know a lot of you will want to watch Obama honor the national champions at 2PM CST. http://www.whitehouse.gov/live
  2. yeah, this topic was covered ad nauseum if not here, then many other places prior to USC's appeal. wasn't being serious in my post..no idea who would have won between OU and AU, and I wasn't trying to spark debate.
  3. yeah, I now consider the 13-0 Auburn team that had Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Jason Campbell, Carlos Rogers, Marcus McNeil, and Jay Ratliff among others as the national champions that year...Oklahoma can share this championship if they must (although they looked pretty bad against USC.) Unfortunately, the BCS won't be reawarding this championship.
  4. Well, the SEC voted to cap signees at 25 per year, instead of 28. That should reduce some of the oversigning. They also banned 7 on 7 camps held on campus and SEC coaches from attending them.... edit - oh, and the SEC office will now oversee the medical hardshipping of athletes to prevent abuse double edit - The SEC has also eliminated the exception allowing grad students to transfer into the league with less than two years of eligibility
  5. so...Russell Wilson is visiting Wisconsin next week. He visitied Auburn last week. I think I'd rather AU play either Barrett Trotter or freshman Kiehl Frazier at QB this year in preparation for the 2012 season rather than try to win an extra game or two in 2011 with Wilson.
  6. Mike Blakely, one of the top RBs from this past recruiting class (6.0 rivals rating), has transferred from Florida to Auburn. He'll have to sit out the 2011 season, but he will have 4 years of eligibility starting in 2012.
  7. Update - The Cubs did refund the cash I paid for the rainout game tickets despite the new rainout policy. I wasn't hassled at all. I sent an email to the organization on Sunday, and they replied today indicating all charges were refunded to the card I used to purchase the tickets.
  8. You should be able to get your money back if that is what you want. Per my understanding the Cubs have always had an informal policy of refunding rainout tickets, but I received an email from the Cubs organization today indicating the game had been postponed until June 28th and 'there will be no refunds or exchanges' of the tickets. For a fan who lives in Mobile, AL, attending the June 28th makeup game is not going to be feasible. Can anyone confirm there is still an informal policy of refunding rainout tickets or is the email I received a firm stance taken by the new ownership? Maybe the policy has changed, but I attended a rainout either last year or the year before and the Cubs sent out information that instructed ticketholders to mail their tickets into the box office for a refund. I mailed my tickets and they credited the card that I had used for payment. yeah, i believe the policy has changed recently. If I felt confident I could get my money back by reselling the tickets myself, then I'd be fine with investing a little bit of my time to do that. However, I'm not super confident I'd be able to sell them for face value. I'm going to implement a 'squeaky wheel' approach to this initially and see if I can get the organization to refund the money.

  10. looks like i'll be selling 5 tickets to the makeup game...we were prepared to put on 5 layers and make the best of it, but it was going to be pretty miserable out there
  11. the sky has been spitting for about 48 hours straight now and winds are going to kick up to about 30mph today....wind chill factor in the mid thirties...hell yeah, let's play some baseball.
  12. yeah, so I'm in town and will be going to this game in these miserable conditions.
  13. heading offshore at 1:30AM for a tuna trip but think i'm still going to stop by the stadium to watch the first few innings of the Smokies game.
  14. HGH is only tested for in the minor leagues, right? ...or did I miss when it was extended to major league as well?
  15. matinee game today in Mobile, so I won't be able to attend.
  16. How did Cabrera look? The first run was scored as a result of two ground balls that found holes in the infield coupled with a fielding error by the short stop. The HR he allowed was very much wind aided. Overall though, he was hit pretty hard and often. It's difficult to judge from 5IP, but he didn't strike me as someone who is going to be successful at the major league level soon. I was much more impressed with Dolis, even though he also struggled the second inning he pitched.
  17. Brett Jackson struck out three times last night, going 1-4 with a walk. He saw quite a few pitches. I'm far from a scout, but he seemed to have a decent approach at the plate. I didn't realize that LeMahieu was so tall. I believe he played SS while at LSU, but he was at third last night. I'm a little surprised he hasn't developed more power than he has at this stage. Rebel Ridling is a little old for AA, but he's been hitting the ball well for the Smokies this year. We have two catchers at AA, Steve Clevinger and a young guy..Blake Lali who are hitting the ball well so far this year. Lali pinch hit late in the game and came through with an RBI single. Vitters played 1B last night..didn't look great at the plate but did get an RBI on a groundout. The pitcher who impressed me the most last night with his raw 'stuff' was Rafael Dolis. He pitched two inning of relief and was dealing the first inning he pitched. He had some problems in the second inning he pitched, walked a guy, was wild in the strike zone, gave up a couple of hits, and was hurt by an error. However, his fastball and slider were both impressive from my vantage point, field level, behind home plate.
  18. I'll be sitting in my company's suite for the Smokies game in Mobile tonight. Hopefully, they will be able to play, but it's raining presently.

    Dempster

He has a $14 million player option for 2012, right?
  20. Bush and Ingram don't have the same running styles and could definitely coexist on the same team. His tweet makes me think he's not going to be super willing to restructure his contract such that keeping him and having Ingram will be feasible for the Saints though, so I guess he will be released.
  21. can't deny it...that [expletive]-eating grin is pretty funny
  22. Looks like the championship team is headed to the white house next week. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6404412&campaign=rss&source=ESPNUHeadlines
  23. This may have happened in beertown, but in reality, the facts of the case as they are widely recognized are that MSU didn't offer Cecil cash. Cecil asked MSU for cash, and they turned him down......Thus Auburn paid Cecil, amirite? you should have been a notre dame fan oh, come on. we're just paying players and robbing people at gun point. We don't actually have blood on our hands like nd. Yeah, Updyke isn't gonna get beat up at a gas station or anything like that. oh hell, we have blood on our hands too? well now I'm going to stop following college football.
