    I don't get it...wasn't everyone complaining that Dusty never calls out his players? So he's supposed to defend them when they do something stupid, but call them out when they can't hit? Doesn't make sense to me.

    I hated the play, but for the heck of it I am going to try to understand what Neifi/Dusty could have been thinking (I believe it was first and third): "I can't hit, so I might as well try to bunt my way on, becuase I won't be able to drive them both in anyway." When you think about it that way...it almost makes sense. He wasn't going to get a hit anyway, might as well try to get lucky I guess? Oh boy was that sad.

    All he did was defend himself. The worst part is that he knows he screwed up and he won't admit it. Just come clean. What do you want him to say? "You know, I really thought Pierre was good, I didn't realize he was a bum, my bad." He can't say stuff like that, have you ever heard a manager take accountability midseason? That'd be like a player saying, "you know, I just don't think we have the talent this year." No one's going to do that.

    Since I rip people for not hustling...just thought I'd pop in and give Jones a little praise. Someone gave him a kick in the pants.

    Lugo is going to be a big asset for you. Play him, hes running like crazy. Giles will be just fine. Furcal on the other hand I'm not high on. Hes coming off a leg injury and is playing in Chavez Ravine so his SBs and HRs will be muted. Nomar was hurt and Kent is struggling so thats hurting him as well. Unfortunately, his value is at its lowest so you probably wont be able to catch a decent trade. Try and target someone in your league who is in desperate need of steals the day after Furcal steals a base, they might bite. Barfield, meh, hes a decent reserve. If you can get Ellis or Loretta, pick them up, they are breaking out of massive slumps. I have both (and Peralta) and its been rough, but you gotta stick with the guys you think are going to do well through the slumps. I actually traded JD Drew for Furcal when Lugo got hurt, and I thought it was a steal. Hasn't workout out that great so far.

    I had Utley and M. Young as my middle infield and couldn't crack 5th place. Traded Utley for Beckett and Duke and seem to be doing slightly worse. I don't get it. Maybe it's the rest of your team

    Hey guys...what's up with my middle infielders being horrible? After some trades and pickups, I now have: M Giles, Furcal, Lugo (was hurt), Barfield (was good til I picked him up), and Biggio. It's a 13 team leagueand I'm currently starting Barfield and Furcal. Giles has looked horrible as has Furcal. Should I try to make some deals, or just wait since they probably have minimal value right now. I'm still in first, but my lead has been slipping recently. Oh, and I've got a pretty powerful rest of the lineup, so I'm generally using my 2B and SS for average, runs, SB...not necessarily HR and RBI.

    That would leave us with what? 3 rookies, a 40 year old, and Rusch in the rotation...no thank you. Even if Wood, Prior, and Miller come back healthy, we still wouldn't be in great shape.

    Not really. ERA is a measure of the pitchers pitching record, not his fielding. Just because he's the guy that messed up fielding the ball shouldn't make a difference in his pitching statistics. It would also cause issues on the other side, because the other team didn't earn that run based on who made the error.

    At least we go all out when we're gonna stink, we don't lose close ones, we just get whooped. :D

    I'd say incomplete. I read on a Bears site the other day that Angelo drafts a year in advance. By that logic he thinks the guys he drafted last year will play an important role this year, and all these defensive players will be important next year (not sure what the FA situation looks like). I don't know that this makes much sense to me, just throwing it out there.

    The point is they feel they have to justify the deal they foolishly signed him to. They won't just pay him to go away. I wouldn't mind him being gone, but at the same time, I wouldn't mind him doing the dirty work in blowout games like that last 2. Rather than using 3-4 guys for an inning or 2 a piece, I'd much rather have a mop-up guy eat up those innings. IIRC, Rusch did a solid job back there before, and I'd much rather use him than someone like Hill in that spot. I think that's part of the reason that Welly and Leicester struggled, they were stuck in that long relief role which is so unpredicatable. They went from starting or having a relief role, to pitching whenever the Cubs were getting blown out. I'd rather use a guy in that role who we aren't trying to develop.

    What happened...I missed it, I switched to the Bulls hairston tries to turn 2. ball goes into short left. aramiz gets it and finds a runner in between 2nd and 3rd. tries to run him back to second but no one is covering 3rd. guy goes the 3rd and there already is a runner there. aramis tags one of them and gets an out. Thanks, sounds fun...haha

    But Tyson Chandler just hurt his ankle. :( And had to get carried off... :x
