  1. I can't believe I am competing having picked Beltre. Huff and Helton aren't helping very much either.
  2. He's not a free agent til 2008 though. Rotoworld says
  3. UMFan83, it looks like it's going to come down to my Dunn Bay Helton Huff vs. your Howard Abreu Holliday Chipper Should be a good one
  4. Wow...great job Len. Watch him get run out of town now...
  5. I love day games, but like others have said...night games were a necessity. Also, I bet I've probably been to 20-30 day games, and maybe only 2 or 3 night games at Wrigley. This rarity makes night games additionally exciting to me. Either way, there's no wrong time to watch a game at Wrigley.
  6. Does this mean I'm going to have to root for the Yankees to win the WS? That way we'll have some cheap knockoff next year?
  7. We got it the first time.
  8. It bugs me that it sounds like he's trying to take credit for Murton's success. If you're going to take credit for players' success, then you've got to take the blame when guys like Patterson, Rusch, etc. fail.
  9. Based on watching the video here are my guesses 1) Subluxation. That's when it pops partially out and right back in, but it leaves it feeling dead for a while. Based in his reaction, that's what it looked like to me. Then again, a subluxation is very minor, Benson is a professional football player, so he should be able to deal with pain, that's what leads me to thinking it's a bit more serious. 2) Separation. Depends on severity, hopefully it wouldn't keep him out too long.
  10. But don't our guys have to clear waivers too or at least have no team worse than Atlanta claim them in order to trade with the Braves? It's hard for me to believe someone not claiming a Pie or Marshall, etc... Exactly what I was thinking. I think they can be traded w/o clearing waivers if they're not on the 40 man, but guys like Prior, Pie, Marshall, Marmol would get claimed, making them untradable.
  11. Yes, that was amazing. That Oakland game, and the games around that time were amazing. Too bad we coughed it up at the end of that season, that was a good team.
  12. There are plenty of minor leaguers who "work hard, and play everyday" but that doesn't mean I want them to be my center fielder and leadoff hitter. I'm sure Juan's a great guy and all, but the fact of the matter is that he doesn't get on base enough to justify him making the kind of money he will be making. When you consider the fact that he will be hitting in the spot where OBP is most important, it only compounds things.
  13. I'm taking ebola, AIDS is overpaid, had TJ surgery, and can't hit worth a lick. There's still a chance with ebola.
  14. Izzy for rizzle?
  15. Unreal...that was a lazer beam
  16. They make millions of dollars to play baseball. They better have something to play for.
  17. That's because Stone said we should have traded Ramirez for Izturis.
  18. I am glad to hear we only dealt Maddux. In the car I heard we had gotten Izturis and I thought we gave them Aramis. It could have been worse. Granted this is absolute garbage. We're sellers and actually made our team worse for next year.
  19. Great...the Cubs are showing just enough for them to justify not making any significant changes next year.
  20. I misread that as "I just saw my girlfriend with my brother..." It doesn't quite have the same effect. That'd cause some problems. In addition to the obvious, my brother's married and 8 years older.
  21. Sweet, just saw my girlfriend's brother in the front row of the bleachers
  22. I would really like to see the Cubs make a play for Julio Lugo in the offseason. He's putting up an .883 OPS with a .378 OBP. Given it's a contract year, but I would love numbers even remotely close to that. Tampa has been trying to lock him up, but if they can't lock him up by the deadline, I think they have to get something for him, most likely from Toronto. He's said he wants to stay in Tampa, but only if they show a commitment to winning. Not sure how high I'd be willing to go for him though. Certainly not $10-mil. St. Petersburg Times Article
  23. So now I know what it's like to watch a Cubs intersquad game.
  24. It's ok, Dusty's still going to take him out for ice cream after the game
  25. I know get up and tag the plate! Well, yeah...but I don't see how he goes flailing to the ground when Molina was trying to catch the ball at the exact moment contact was made.
