  1. vlad. honestly, what has gotten in to him? his walk rate has ballooned, which is making him into an even better hitter. that has been his only criticism -- he's posted good OBPs, but due to his excellent average. if he keeps that walk rate up, he'll be the hands-down AL MVP.
  2. I agree that a high AVG with RISP is luck, but when voting for MVP, I think it has to be taken into consideration. For example, Hanley Ramirez is hitting .420 with the bases empty and .160 with runners on. While it will probably even out over the course of his career, during the first quarter of this season he has been a poor hitter in more important situations, and that's a big reason that he only has 9 RBI. All other things equal, a guy who hit better in the clutch should win the award over a guy who didn't hit as well, even though in the long run, it's just luck that will even out. Hardy is hitting over 100 points better with RISP, thus another point for him. also, for me, MVP doesn't mean "best player", it means "most valuable", meaning you HAVE to take his team and lineup scenario into account. OPS and such doesn't happen in a vaccuum exactly -- you take the fact that the 40 R, 50 RBI guy had a better team around him. example: andruw jones scored more runs and drove in more runs in 2006 than derrek lee did in 2005. are you going to tell me that jones' 2006 was more valuable to his team than lee's 2005? derrek lee was #1 in VORP in all of baseball in 2005. andruw jones didn't crack the top 30 in 2006.
  3. he has 16 BB in 58 PA, good for a .190 IsoD.
  4. have you guys ever heard of a slow (and unlucky) start? corey patterson's babip right now is .259. this might come as a shocker, but his babip in his 2005 campaign was .262. i've never understood why everyone is so quick to crucify corey patterson.
  5. so i should be expecting to see your album on the shelves any time soon, right?
  6. mets' s = 2.868 cubs' s = 2.855
  7. i want to trade one of peralta and michael young. any takers? i'd like to get a starter in return. if it's young, a top 15 starter.
  8. http://ryanunderdown.com/2007/05/15/bruce-bowen-youtube-greatest-hits/
  9. Ramirez has a dirty uniform because he's so lazy that he lies dogwn between pitches. i think he crawled to first base instead of running in yesterday's game, too.
  10. i don't see the creepiness in a twenty or twenty-one year old thinking a picture of someone two or three years their younger is pretty, beautiful, hot, whatever. if meph was 40, okay, but he isn't.
  11. Rich Hill's ERA will be in the mid to high 3's by the end of July. as of yesterday, Hill's BABIP against was .212. Marquis' will be even worse -- his BABIP against is .196. he obviously can't sustain this kind of success with his current peripherals.
  12. Clutch is laughed at because it is not a player intangible. "Clutch" does not make you a better hitter. It's more or less f*cking luck. There is a such thing as a clutch play or a clutch hit, but not a clutch player. HUH? That's not true. what part of his post is not true?
  13. i didn't know he was THAT hot.
  14. this is offtopic, but i see a lot of people referring to Lee as a good defender. 1b is regarded as one of the easiest positions to play, or rather that it takes less defensive ability to play 1b than most of the other positions. that being said, is Lee a good defender, or a good defensive 1b? i think there is a difference. Lee is very athletic, and i'm not saying he couldn't play the other positions, but it's just something i've noticed.
  15. no. http://bp1.blogger.com/_RrObyQ3XzcY/RkSrcpsh7bI/AAAAAAAAFZk/6ATD0Jbdc2Q/s400/wound1.jpg http://bp0.blogger.com/_RrObyQ3XzcY/RkSrcZsh7aI/AAAAAAAAFZc/idq52EBU2uQ/s400/wound2.jpg ben shot him where a kidney is supposed to be. is it a coincidence that one of locke's kidneys were removed? i think not.
  16. i love watching hill pitch. that curve he threw to victorino was hilarious.
  17. don't you understand, foo? IMB doesn't chase girls. they chase him.
  18. ugh. why don't they carry size small?
  19. 198. Dobson Dobson's Supermarket 132 haha, i didn't know juan encarnacion was injured, and podsednik is still putting up a zero as well. i picked cristian guzman for some reason... he's not going to get enough playing time. looper is killing me as well.
  20. A- Corey isnt worth that much. His lifetime OBP is lower than Neifi Perez's now. The guy is just a bum. B- We thankfully dont need more OFs. C- I would become a Cardinal fan. (ok, i wouldnt...but i would be very very angry.) On a happy note, Jon Leicester was one of the guys brought up to replace some of the Orioles DL cats. Nice to see him reappear after some serious type surgery. Hopefully he will do well. yeah, he's a "bum" for not having a .400 OBP. man, he must eat fetuses in his spare time. i bet he's the cause of global warming, too! watch out everyone.... corey patterson is coming to eat your children, even those that are still in the womb. he and that "headcase" kyle farnsworth will probably team up. what will we do?
