  1. Was at the game tonight. The Bulls play their guts out, but they were getting outrebounded much of the night. They were fortunate that Nash is an awful defender (thus allowing Hinrich to go off). Thibs does a great job scheming to enhance their strengths and hide their weaknesses on D. Not to pick on Kirk too much, but Hinrich didn't have to go one-on-one with Nash too much tonight (he steered him into double teams) and when he did he got beat. In addition to a dynamic SG (good luck), they need a big off the bench. Easier said than acquired, I know, but Muhammed is out of shape, a meh rebounder, and can't score at all. Basically he's a big body and 6 fouls. We need a better back up C. BTW, something is really wrong with Dwight Howard. He can barely jump and doesn't run the floor. He has to still be hurting.
  2. Since '07, the Kings have been at, or near the bottom of the league in attendance, and even then they were just middle of the pack. Not the same as the Cubs at all. http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance So, more like the Blackhawks. Here's an interesting perspective on the matter, an open letter from a Kings fan to the Maloofs: http://t.co/nqSTnFRD Blackhawks fans are lucky that Rocky died. Because low attendance, while the only really valid form of fan protest, does leave you open to this kind of choice by the owners. But even in the Kings years of success, they didn't crack the top 10 in attendance. The Blackhawks have led the league in attendance for the last 4 years. So even that isn't quite similar.
  3. Really? OK, I can. But its annoying none the less. I think it's funny that they're fawning over Flacco though... Crap, its not as though Flacco was freaking Peyton Manning coming out of college. He played at Deleware and there were tons of questions about how that would translate to the NFL. Six weeks ago when the Ravens struggled to beat San Diego sports media jackasses were asking whether he is a franchise QB. The real difference between Jay Cutler and Joe Flacco is coaching and O-Line play. Flacco also has more weapons around him than Jay and has for several years.
  4. I am going to the game tonight. Will keep an eye on Hinrich, as at this point I am not seeing the value a grinder adds at age 32 now that his once mediocre skill set has diminshed.
  5. Why would they want Castro, I thought Didi Gregorius was the next Jeter? Move him to 2B? Spin him off?
  6. Nice hire by Trestman. Tucker seems like the kind of guy who could get whats lest out older guys like Tillman, Peppers and Briggs. Now lets see if Urlacher comes back.
  7. From Deadspin:
  8. I heard a rumor that Teo hijacked a truck full of raw steel bound for Pakistan. The steel was owned by the girl's fake family.
  9. Exactly. The greatness of this [expletive] storm isn't in the "why" so much as the "who" and "where".
  10. I hope some journalist goes after this. She's effing Keyser Soze Lol
  11. He's a stupid religious nut who has no idea how to deal with being gay and so he did something really, really stupid. There's plenty reason. And yeah, go ahead and keep acting like anyone's reaction to this has amounted to much more emotionally besides "this is hilarious." I'm not ready to infer that. It's certainly possible. What I'm saying is that a neutral observer who doesn't really care about Te'o or ND one way or the other, it's circumstantial lay much more likely he's involved. Occam's Razor. Thing is, even if he's genuinely a victim, it doesn't change the fact that everyone who believed he's totally innocent are wrong to believe it right now. Such obvious bias is almost funny. I haven't seen one smart non-ND fan come out strong in his defense. I don't know what your definition of 'come out strong' is but Stewart Mandel of SI.com already is on record as saying he believes the story until proven otherwise, mainly because, as he put it, Te'o would be insane to confirm this to ND and let them hire investigators if he was in on it. what was his option at that point Lies beget lies beget lies......
  12. She said she was the daughter of Sidney Poitier.
  13. Complicit? How? That he perpetrated the fraud? To what end? He made up a gf for 2+ years? He was on the cover of SI before the alleged death. Then you think a lawyer and AD of ND is going to go out and publicly defend the kid and speak about the details, including the investigator they hired? I mean. What's the end game? Where's the benefit to a quiet, shy kid that everyone thought was sincere To me, given his ethnicity and faith, the homosexuality angle seems much more likely than him trying to drum up popularity, but of course that question goes both ways as well. Why would you string along Te'o for 2+ years and then fake that character's death? Is "con the college middle linebacker for multiple years, hope he gets famous, then fake their death and blackmail him for the secret" a much more likely outcome? Yes. Do you realize this is a thing that people do? He's not the only guy to get hoaxed. Why is the world would he risk his NFL career for this? Bc he's gay? What does being gay have to do with killing an internet gf off to fraud the public? If he wasn't in on it then he is a first-rate moron. It's more likely he was on it, and assuming Deadspin's reporting is accurate, it's very reasonable to believe he was in on it.
  14. I'm liking it less and less. The west coast offense's time has passed. Trestman is going to struggle to get the respect of players and other coaches with his very poor resume. Much like Lovie's first coaching staff with the Bears, that was filled with a bunch of college coaches, I am very concerned about having a GM with very little NFL experience hiring a coach with minimal NFL experience that has gone stale. What he did in the mid-90's is not going to fly in 2012. Trestman is going to have to spend months reteaching himself the league. He hasn't seen an NFL talent in practice in 8 years, and that was with a pathetic Dave Wanndstedt team in Miami. I can understand your concern, but you have a bunch of assumptions and mischaracterizations in that post.
  15. I preferred Arians, but I like the hire in theory. Very interested to see who the DC will be. If Lovie gets one of the jobs he most certainly takes Marinelli with him.
  16. why, because he was in the news and everyone recognizes his name? luck may have had a prolific year, but it wasn't particularly efficient. I like Arians more for what he did in Pittsburgh. Also, he was Peyton Manning's QB coach during his first few years in the league.
  17. He's a West Coast offense guru. His first OC job was in 95'. He replaced Shannhan (OC) and Kubiak (QB's) in SF the year after they blew the Chargers away in the SB. Seifert was the HC at the time, so Trestman was effectively a branch or two away from Bill Walsh on his coaching tree. EDIT: He was Oakland's OC the year Gannon was MVP and they went to the SB. FWIW, Rice, Gannon, and Gruden endorse him.
  18. wow, uh-oh is pretty highly ranked TE, let's get him. he can catch and he can block. Holy [expletive] @ Brandon Myers' ranking. Guess this proves once again that there isn't always correlation between fantasy value and real-life value.
  19. Yeah it's a tweet. Reading some of the others from that account, including ones that attribute to Bucher, I'm pretty certain that's saying Rose's advisers, not the team's. Another tweet attributed to Bucher says those same advisers are "going to be on the Bulls hard if they don't add a legit Star before next season". Interesting. Certainly have enough expiring contracts and pieces if we are willing to part with a Deng or Noah.
  20. That stinks. I guess I understand, but it stinks. Does it give us the opportunity to improve the team around him by trading Deng and/or Boozer?
  21. I hope Atlanta has a head coach short-list. Smith won't survive if they choke up this lead. I could see Lovie landing down there.
