  1. Well they have Revis as their #1 CB, and I don't believe they need any help at DT. Tillman could be a #2 CB, but I don't see Melton going there. I wonder how Revis will do in a Cover 2 scheme. Lovie didn't run the cover-2 as much in his final years in Chicago. What? By "as much" do you mean 90 as opposed to 92% of the time?
  2. For those of you who think this was a bad deal, please explain in detail how you would have handled it. If you think he should have been franchised, keep mind that managing Jay's cap number is essential to improving the defense , which is this offseason's unquestioned number one priority. If you think he should have been allowed to walk, who do you replace him with? What's the long term plan?
  3. No way. His only exceptional skill are his legs and his elusiveness, and with his frame that is going to get him killed in the NFL. The only comparison of a running QB close to that size in the league is Vick, and he's never stayed healthy. Plus he's way too reckless with the ball and throws tons of 50/50 balls that Evans pulled down. I don't see it. I will say he has improved his throwing mechanics and arm strength this season from last. Can't blame him for throwing jump balls since Evans is so good at getting them. That said, I'm still not that high on him, especially compared to Bortles and Bridgewater. I think Manziel has to get drafted to the right situation, moreso than most other rookie QBs. He actually covers for his teammates with his ability to get out of the pocket and make plays. Jump balls are part of playing QB in the modern NFL. If he can also throw the back shoulder pass and slant he'll be fine. Potentially more than fine. Who cares if he's a douche? He has balls and skills.
  4. I agree and have been beating that drum with my Friends who are Browns fans. Drafting him and another WR or O-Lineman later in the 1st Rnd plus signing Ben Tate would make their O immediately solid. Manziel has a lot of Favre in him, IMO.
  5. Seems like Ron Turner redux. I don't get why he hires these kinds of guys. Shouldn't he be mining for young guys who learned from current offensive gurus at the pro level?
  6. May be, but outweighed by the NHL's need to showcase itself.
  7. That sounds like a guy who is coming back. He's not right about Mills, but appreciate the sentiment.
  8. FWIW, I could live with that offseason plan above. I agree we need to change our attitude on D - they need to get nastier. If Murphy brings that attitude, then great, bring him in. I'd love to see him and Johnson killing QB's and RB's for the next 4 or 5 years. Byrd could also make an enormous difference in an Ed Reed sort of way (the last good safety we had was.....Mike Brown?). Watching Conte and Wright take sh--ty angles against the run was so frustrating. I'm not sure I agree that Bostic is a lost cause. He's fast and is a good tackler. He might benefit from a move outside after Briggs is done. I'm not sure about the idea of Boggs vs a rookie 3rd rounder for the starting center spot. That said, Garza looks like he's spent. Not his fault - happens to the best of them - but it's probably time to say goodbye.
  9. It would be very smart to extend him right away.
  10. Couple of interesting blurbs from ESPNChicago: I don't think the defense has struggled in a manner that indicates Tucker should be let go. They are getting blown off the line on running plays and have rookie LB's and safeties who don't support the run very well. This is a talent issue, not a scheme issue. Which dovetails nicely with the second blurb - some of these guys on D are done or plain suck (Conte and Wright, for example). There needs to be some major change in terms of personnel.
  11. If they wind up with the 12th pick they should trade down. They need as many picks as possible to fill all the holes on D.
  12. I understand that making numbers work in a Deng trade would be challenging, but I'm starting to wonder if Gar-Pax is delusional, prideful, or just lazy.
  13. What a [expletive]. This whole saga needs a nickname.
  14. Speaking of crappy players from Asia, we should trade Barney and sign that guy who played for the Mets after doing gay porn during his misbegotten youth.
  15. This will be the new Brian Roberts thread. Drunk girls in bars are more decisive.
  16. Here's a thought: Lovie Smith as Detroit HC?
  17. AFC* Yeah, I suppose
  18. You have to hand it to John Harbaugh. Few playmakers on offense. No more Lewis or Reed. O-Line is meh at best. How are they 8-6?
  19. Wow! Schwartz conceding the game!
