  1. 11/9/2003: 15/27 131 yds 0 TD 3 INT 27.1 RAT 9/30/2002 35/53 328 yds 1 TD 3 INT 65.6 RAT 1/6/2002 16/32 151 yds 1 TD 4 INT 34.2 RAT Well done - you dug around and found four games (out of how many starts?) from 3 or more years ago that he played badly in. You could do a search and find the same for guys named Manning, Montana, Favre, Luckman, Tittle...just about anyone. Now go and show me where Griese has played this bad over an extended stretch as Rex has. What are Griese's career stats, please?
  2. I think the defense might be tired - they have been on the field for the 3/4 of the game, wioth Rex Grossman on their collective backs the whole time.
  3. He threw that ball backwards!!! That's not a fwd pass!!!
  4. Again, show me proof that Griese has EVER played this bad.
  5. not really. It's an awful lot easier to hide a slumping number 7 hitter than it is to hide a slumping qb. no it isn't. you just need an O coordinator willing to do so. are you really going to argue the Bears didn't effectively hide Orton last year? same damn thing. Another terrible idea - we should hide him through play calling? How long before defenses start teeing off on that? ah, so let Griese throw the ball down the field. Brilliant! You're right, let's dink and dunk within 7 yards of the line of scrimmage. Are you John Shoop? Brian Griese does not posses the arm nor the ability to make good enough decisions to run anything other than a radically scaled down offense. In your opinion - the reality is something different. BTW, the reality about Rex is revealed through objective stats rather than baseless commentary.

  8. USS, those are horrible arguments. You can't compare baseball position players to football players. Completely different in almost every aspect, particularly at the QB position. You're arguments that Griese's only job is to carry the clipboard until Grossman gets mamed is without support. Show me where Lovie and Jerry said that. What's more, even if they did, that's a horrendous philosophy and you know it. Grossman is playing on a team that has talent enough to win a SB if he just plays avg. He is playing WELL BELOW avg. This is a team that is ready to win NOW, not two years from now like the Titans (Vince Young) or the Cards (Leinart). We can't have patience with Rex b/c windows in the NFL close too quickly. Right now he looks like another Bears' QB who recently wore the no. 8...
  9. QFT How can you possibily defend Grossman's play so far in this game, the last sack notwithstanding. No, he's been bad. However, Griese isn't a long term answer and might not be better in the short term. You don't think he can do better than what we are witnessing? he would not have to try too hard in order to best 3 for 9, no TDs, and two picks. What are Rex's strengths? Strong arm is definitely one of them, no? But what good is that arm if you throw into coverage when other guys are open?
  10. QFT How can you possibily defend Grossman's play so far in this game, the last sack notwithstanding.
  11. Hey look: Tommie Harris on ice!
  12. Then how come he can't stick w/ anyone, including a franchise (Red Sox) that supposedly appreciates his type of skill set?
  13. I do. If we're going to try to get a few hundred plate appearances from some old, declining LH hitter, I wouldn't mind Barry. I don't mind old, declining LH-hitters. I mind cheaters.
  14. Agree - I'd love to have Kenny back, but we need middle of the order production at another position to make it work.
  15. OF: Murt - Lofton - Soriano Trade Jones for more pitching (Westbrook? Jennings?) Sign Schmidt Lineup: Lofton Soriano Lee ARam Barrett Murton DeRosa Izturis That's a weak lineup. Rotation: Z Schmidt Jennings Hill Prior/Miller That's a good rotation.
  16. I thought Murt did a nice job in LF, but he isn't particulalrly quick so I think he looks worse than many LFers when he has to go back for a ball.
  17. Bless you and your Bruins, Mr. Rasin. Sincerely, A Michigan Fan
  18. I like Tex. Prior for Tex. (ok, it won't happen, but still...)
  19. QFT QFT to the second power.
  20. I don't understand the man-love for Merker.
  21. he's a jerk to be sure, but if its steroids that bothers you, I think we better start admitting he is just the tip of the iceberg. Yeah, so? This would excuse what exactly, in your mind? I love that argument - hey, he wasn't the only one cheating, so let's get in on the fun. If you can't beat em' join em', eh? I very much want the Cubs to win - but I don't want to win that badly. If the Cubs aren't going to win b/c they won't sign Bonds, so be it. And, BTW, I have no problem with outing each and every user. My ire is not directed at Bonds individually.
  22. Not necessarily - they could add Zito and trade for Westbrook or Jennings, a scenario I would strongly prefer to Batista or Marquis.
  23. I like Zito, but not at the price he is likely to command. I wonder whether JH is trying to drive that price up in order to increase Schmidt's value. By so doing he could make Schmidt too expensive for his (Hendry's) competition (Seattle, LA, etc.). A risky strategy, but not unheard of. I think I would be OK w/ this rotation: Z Hill Zito Jennings Miller/Prior
