  1. Buried in Olney's blog: Could you live with this rotation?: Z Zito Hill Lily Prior/Miller
  2. agreed co-sign
  3. Do we still have a hockey team here in Chicago? I live only a few miles from the UC but can't be sure.
  4. I'd rather have Schmidt, but I'd be fine with getting both. Obviously its mroe realistic that we will have Lilly and maybe one other guy. Z Hill Lilly Miller Prior etc. Meh.
  5. I understand that many disagree, but I think that I could live with this... Soriano (RF) Lugo (CF) Lee ARam Floyd/Murt Barrett DeRosa Izturis If the staff looks like this... Z Schmidt Jennings Hill Prior I would then have any eye towards improving the OF at the trade deadline. I think we could do something good with that team. Of course, if Soriano doesn't need to lead off... Lugo Murt Lee ARam Soriano Barrett DeRosa Izturis ...then I think you have a much better lineup.
  6. C'mon, goony, its so much more clever to make dead-horse jokes about him.
  7. If I had a choice between two middle of the pack starters, I'd take Padilla over Lilly. Padilla and Westbrook would like create one of the better rotations in the NL. If Hill shows the same glimpses as last year as well as Prior showing somewhat of his '03 form, it could be the best. I'm with you. Padilla is the one starter of the FA's left that I have the most interest in. Me too.
  8. Only if he agrees to it. He'll agree if the fans/media bad-mouth him about leaving a game early and demand that he be traded to the O's for a backup 2B/OF and a couple of relievers. Get over it. Seriously.
  9. I still miss Neifi......... buy my aim is improving !! http://www.ticketvision.com/vegas/images/wayne-newton.jpg
  10. I love that national media types and local media white sox supporters such as Dan McNeil, Jonathon Hood, and Steve Rosenbloom are screaming about how the Cubs' offseason is already a failure and the Soriano, Ramirez, and DeRosa deals are misguided because they haven't addressed starting picthing. Its not even December yet, the Winter Meetings haven't taken place, and the best pitchers are still on the freakin' mkt! Hendry can't make them sign before they are ready, and all indications are that he has been in touch with the most desireable (relative term) picthers on the mkt. Just as important: their lineup sucked as much as their pitching did last year. I wish those guys would shut the hell up and concentrate on the fact that their team hasn't done a thing to improve itself yet it has major holes in CF, LF, and in the pen, is aging at just about every other position, and has so much money invested in its underachieving starting staff that it has little financial flexibility at this point. Give us a break.
  11. I agree that is far more likely, though I'd love our lineup with him.
  12. If the deal is Dempster and two mid-level prospects for Hudson, I really do not see a downside. Would you rather have Meche or Padilla at ridiculous salaries?
  13. Just curious - if our local guys got scooped by the national outlets, how would they handle it? It doesn't seem to happen very often.
  14. On further review (DVR): "I know the Cubs have offered him a three-year deal", and the graphic on the screen said "Reportedly offered 3 years, $44M deal by Cubs" :D
  15. This trade is not happening. There is not Cubs source who would ever, ever e-mail or utter such a thing. Believe what you will. Curses! I would have liked that deal, especially if Clement were thrown in. Isn't Clement out for most of, if not all, 2007? My guess is that we've already seen the last of him. Oh, I di not know that about Clement. Still, I want Manny to be a Cub in the worst way.

  17. I usually do not raise this, but....
  18. Leaning toward it. Are you bothered by his testimony in front of Congress and the difficult-to-ignore implications thereof? Just asking - not judging. We value your insight and opinion.
  19. But will you vote for Big Mac?
  20. Hendry put down what you're doing and get him. NOW. Again, I ask-why do you think we're on Manny's list to actually be traded to? Here's the list that I've gleaned from all the reports-the report last month said that it was 10-12 teams long. Giants Padres Dodgers Mets Rangers Orioles Indians Angels Those are 8 of the teams, which only leaves 2-4 teams left. I certainly don't think it's a huge possibility that the Cubs are one of those teams. It's possible, but not very likely IMO. Even if Hendry wanted him, he might not be able to get him if he does not want to come. Why do you think that? What evidence have you that you have not shared? And what is a "huge possibility" exactly? So you're saying there's a chance... http://images.art.com/images/-/Jim-Carrey---Dumb-Dumber--C10102378.jpeg
