  1. He also said that Manny was either going to the Dodgers, Giants, or Padres ... IIRC, that is not what he said. He said that those are the teams that have shown interest / had discussions with the Sox so far and appear to be most serious.
  2. I doubt it. MAYBE, and I do mean MAYBE he could swing it in a 3 or 4-team deal, but straight up I don't think we have what it takes to get him. I think the only way he gets involved is if Lou has expressed a man crush on the guy. I don't see Manny as a guy Jim would target on his own, not with his recent trend of thinking about clubhouse chemistry and ball catching. Then again, he did hit .323 with RISP, so maybe Jim will put his fetish for such stats to good use. Manny might make Lou a bit crazy, but he wouldn't mind him so much when he is hitting during the 81 games at Wrigley, 8 at the Juice Box, 3 or 4 at Coors (sans humidor), etc. Come to think of it, he wouldn't mind having Manny at any ballpark b/c Manny hits a ton no matter where he plays. PLEASE GET MANNY, MR. HENDRY!!!
  3. I wish I were reading the Cubs on that list of involved team... Do you think Jim will slide in there and make an offer? I doubt it. MAYBE, and I do mean MAYBE he could swing it in a 3 or 4-team deal, but straight up I don't think we have what it takes to get him. See bold.
  4. I wish I were reading the Cubs on that list of involved team... Do you think Jim will slide in there and make an offer?
  5. I wish I were reading the Cubs on that list of involved team... Me too. Then I considered the source...
  6. Buster Olney on ESPN Radio: stating that Manny is on the mkt and there is a lot of "play" for him as the Drew signing is imminent. Red Sox are lowering their demands to the level that the Yanks received for Sheff. Could happen by Sat. EDIT: Involved teams: Giants Pads Dodgers Angels and Indians might have had interest at one time. Note: he also says that McGwire will never get into the HOF.
  7. That first one is the best stat I have read about the Cubs, perhaps ever.
  8. So the Cubs could get him for Bob Howry, Donnie Veal, and Eric Patterson. Where do I sign?
  9. Is Bobby Meachem available? What about Rafael Santana?
  10. I agree. I don't think what happened yesterday is a big deal. We can win with Rex if he just plays decent. He doesn't need to be Brady, he just needs to be Trent Dilfer of the 2000 Ravens. There is no reason to panic with respect to Rex's play, IMO. This does not mean that we should not be critical of Rex. He throws off his back foo far too often; doesn't "feel" the pocket even when the line protects for him; doesn't work through his progressions enough; etc. That said, he's plenty talanted enough to win; he just needs to learn not to take as many risks as he does. The defense was very good yesterday with an exception or two. Don't forget they were playing against a very good QB with an underrated O-Line. Ask Dillon and Moroney if they are sore this morning. The refs screwed us several times in the first half, preventing us from getting the lead early, which is a very important thing for this team, especially for Grossman. Overall, not a great performance, but don't forget we were on the road against a good team. This wasn't the Lions we lost to.
  11. Only if they get a deal done. I hope they sign him - might put Manny on the block if they do. BTW, nice job by the Panthers this weekend.
  12. Do the Red Sox owe his Japanese employer the $51 mill no matter what?
  13. And someone please beat Joe Buck up. (I am not really advocating that; just a fantasy)
  14. Bingo. Let's see how they look next week before pushing the panic button. They did a nice job coming back after the Miami loss. Did we really expect them to go undefeated; to sweep 3 straight East Coast roadies? Grossman has his issues; but let's wait and see.
  15. Good move using Ced in this game - need a straight ahead power guy to wear these guys out... GREAT CATCH BERNARD!!!!!
  16. "We are back from commercial....in an unprecedented move the refs have thrown their own red flag, reviewed the play, and reversed the call on the field. Go Pats!" - Joe Buck
  17. I saw that too! They bent Adawale's head back 45 degrees!
  18. I don't think I've mentioned this in quite a while, but I hate Joe Buck. Jon: Can we sticky a Buck hate thread?
  19. Two blatant PI calls blown. The most recent one could only be missed by Stevie Wonder.
  20. Buck just took out his short skirt and poms poms.
  21. figures It was a good run Robbie.
  22. FLAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Forgive me, mods: If Buck were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick.
