  1. If Cuban buys the team Wrigley will stay, IMO. He gets it.
  2. The Cards are due for some bad luck, but I don't wish injury on anyone. That said, if this puts him out for a while they have big problems. Though I think Wainwright could ultimately be as good as him.
  3. I think Angelo has handled this very well so far. I don' know what else he could possibly do. If he gets McIntosh and the No. 6 for Briggs and our No. 1 its freakin' larceny.
  4. If I could get him on the cheap - for the sort of prospects we got in the Juan Cruz deal - I'd do it. Maybe if he received some good instruction at AAA he could become a valuable commodity.
  5. I don't care if the two them engage in a passionate, Shaksperean love affair so long as the Cubs win.
  6. Hm. Those are better odds than I expected. 100 bucks would still pay off pretty handsomely.
  7. Sometimes when I go to the front page to check out new (great feature, BTW, Tim; thanks) I click one and get "the topic you requested no longer exists". Lately those threads seem to have titles associated with somone's user name and they appear to be directed at the user, i.e., "Hey Warp" (a couple of days ago). There seems to be at least one a day popping up. Just curious - what's the deal?
  8. Interesting. I knew we had been productive in terms of pitchers but did not realize the gap was so wide between us and second place.
  9. I'll vote for MJH, but prefer Silvy & Carmen (when they were together) to all of the above.
  10. They don't want to draft #6? Read between the lines - they don't want to pay top ten pick cash. I hope its for cap reasons (i.e., we have several guys who will be due extensions in the near future) rather than the other reason that I have been criticized for raising in the past.
  11. Good for her, but who cares? An ump is an ump, man, woman, goat, duck....I don't care. Just give the Cubs every call.
  12. I don't blame Jerry for being peeved, but I would still explore the deal. I wonder if Jerry is doing this only to drive the price up. Again, I would demand a top 10 pick and a 3rd rnd pick next year before I'd pick up the phone.
  13. The thought of Landry in our secondary makes my pants tight. I'm not afriad to say it. Note that Gaines Adams is also expected to be available there. But I still want: http://www.nationalchamps.net/2005/sub/pics/small/louisianastate_laron_landry_sm.jpg
  14. As a Michigan fan I can say "Just say no to Branch". If we get no. 6 and don't take Landry there ought to be an investigation.
  15. Agreed. We are in a great bargaining position here, IMO. Snyder's ego makes decisions - go fleece him.
  16. Sheesh I would love to get my hands on that 6th pick and get Landry. He's a mean SOB.
  17. What he was is meaningless. He is a pro bowler. He is one of the best in the game. And he is very young. Pointing out that he was a 3rd rounder is as meaningful as pointing out that Michael Haynes was a 1st rounder. That has no reflection on present value. Briggs for the equivalent of 2 mid-2nd round picks is not something Angelo should go gaga for. It's something you should consider, but opening up an absolute must fill hole at linebacker is hardly a favorable situation. Sheesh, goony, hell must be freezing over b/c I completely agree with you again. :D That logic is quite flawed, Soul. Tom Brady was a 6th rnd pick, so should the Pats only get a 4th rnd pick for him?
  18. He wouldn't be trading the 6th pick overall for Briggs. He'd be trading that for Briggs and the 31st. He'd be trading one potential all pro player for an all pro player and a guy who is a little less likely to be all pro. My only problem with such a trade from a Bears perspective is, with 31 and 37, we know they already need O line help, secondary help, and offensive playmaker help. Now, trade Briggs with the 31 for that 6th, and all of a sudden you add one more need, without adding anymore draft picks. The guys who are obvious replacements for Briggs aren't worth anywhere near being a 6 pick, so if you take them, then you are essentially removing much of the value of that 6th pick in the first place. Angelo would almost have to trade down, to try and get 2 later 1st round picks. If you are giving up Briggs and your 1st, I think you have to end up with at least 2 picks when all is said and done. Because all of a sudden you have multiple needs and serious depth issues. I completely agree. If I were Jerry I'd offer Briggs and the no. 1 (31 overall) this year for the Skins no. 1 (6 overall) and their 3rd Rnd pick in 08'.
  19. Obviously you picked first. No too bad, but you have some major injury concerns in your starting rotation. To me your lineup could be made or broken by how Kendrick does. If he stinks you could be looking for MIF help all season long.
  20. .270 / .400 / .550
  21. Do we have a kid from The Citadel who plays SS? My cousin, a Citadel grad, was telling me about him but I have never heard his name (and can't recall it right now either).
  22. I agree. I hope he pitches well in AAA. He will become a great trade chip. Agreed - he looks like prime trade bait to me. Too many guys in front of him, and several guys with higher ceiling behind him. I feel like we have some decent things happening agian on the farm. Where does BA rank us at this point?
