  1. I know I posted this above, but I can't get over Bryant's. Is it bad that I am so excited about a spring training HR?
  2. And its way too early to fret about missed free agents like you've done. No, its not, assuming the goal is to compete with GB and Detroit next season. They've already committed a pretty large contract to one of the youngest, brightest looking FA. They may still be in on one other big money FA (Knighton) and frankly if they land him, the rest of FA has to be smaller to mid range, less sexy signing anyways - of which there are still plenty of names available. A few already have had visits and there's rumors connecting us to others. As Raw very succinctly noted above, we have a ton of needs. I agree that the "sexiness" of the signings is less important than fit and ability. That said, Rolle was clearly a back-up plan (Searcy was the primary target), Knighton is hardly a sure thing as I write this, and we still need help at LB, CB and S (more than just Rolle, assuming he signs)...and that's just on defense. My point is that by addressing these issues through FA you free yourself up to get a true impact player at 7 rather than taking the risk of reaching based on need. Want to catch up with GB? Sign solid contributors through FA and make a splash in the draft by getting Cooper or White and daring the rest of the league to single-cover them or Jeffrey for the next 5 years.
  3. Updated Draft Tek mock has Bears taking Beasley, with Copper and Parker as alt's: http://www.drafttek.com/2015-NFL-Mock-Draft-Round1.asp

  5. Besides Jeffrey, who should we be looking to re-up to long-term and expensive deals over the next two years? Fuller maybe, but we don't know that yet. Long probably. Forte will be a UFA after this coming season, but at age 30 and with his mileage, are you planning on giving him another long-term deal? Unlikely. I agree we should ultimately "build through the draft", but if you can fill several of your "needs" with competent FA's you are in a better spot to go pick the best players available when its your turn to pick. This beats reaching for guys because someone has to play.
  6. lol i mean they've played together so what a weird joke Thanks! I mean, they played together, so let's not re-live that rather unique moment! Sarcasm is not appropriate in this situation!
  7. "Eddie, Rivers told you how he feels about Cutler, I'm sure..."
  8. Good to see/hear Javy is still swinging at pitches out of the zone. I would say low-outside corner. It was probably barely a strike. http://m.mlb.com/chc/video/topic/26663958/v43939783/must-c-consecutive-soler-baez-and-bryant-go-yard/?c_id=chc Holy schnikes, Bryant's was a bomb and it looked like he barely swung. Just let Javy be Javy. He might be a poorer man's Vlad.
  9. Free agency is an hour old. Breathe. Agreed, but most of the our primary targets appear to be seeking life elsewhere. So like I said, not a good day so far. I would have liked to see them set up a BPA approach to the draft by filing most of their primary needs through free agency. I am especially disturbed that we are apparently losing Paea and Knighton is wavering. We also still need a No. 2 receiver (Royal is a slot guy, and he hasn't signed yet), more LB's, at least one CB, and a RT. That said, I remain open to Pace "wowing" me.
  10. This hasn't been a good day for the Bears
  11. For whatever reason we have never been in-play for top FA corners.
  12. Sensible move. Cutler can probably be a top 12-15 QB just be cutting his turnovers down by 25%. If they run more than they did last season (likely), that shouldn't be too difficult to make happen. If Jay doesn't play well this season it will be easier to move on in a year.
  13. Julius Thomas to Jags. Didn't see that one coming.
  14. Kapernick was significantly ahead of Cutler in 13'; last season he took a giant step back and was slightly behind Jay. What do we chalk that up to?
  15. Having a pass rush will at least partially solve for that problem.
  16. I like that we are addressing positional needs via FA rather than waiting for the draft. IMO, the draft should be for BPA's as much as possible, and we are setting ourselves up nicely for that possibility.
  17. Nicely done. Nabbing McPhee, Wiz, and Knighton would be a very nice start to this offseason. Particularly if they grab Knighton, I am hoping they will go completely BPA at no. 7. Hopefully Cooper or White will be there; I'm guessing the former. But if not, I would love to see Gregory somehow fall to us. I genuinely see him as a Suggs kind of guy in the 3-4. Completely different skill sets and body types between Gregory and Suggs. Suggs wasn't the current version of himself when he was a rookie.
  18. That made my day
  19. He's an HOF'er. He was probably the best LB in football for 5 years.
  20. Also - just reading up on Kevin White. He's pigeon toed and is a heel-toe runner. Obviously not everyone is the same and he is clearly a unique athlete, but that would concern me in terms of the possibility of chronic injury. EDIT: The more I read, the more I hope Cooper falls to us. Pairing him with Alshon in Gase's offense, with Bennett and Forte running around would be outstanding. I'd also like to see them sign someone such as Pierre Thomas (about to be released) to take some of the load off of Forte.
  21. Wow. That would be an enormous loss for them and for fans like me who really enjoyed watching him play
