And its way too early to fret about missed free agents like you've done. No, its not, assuming the goal is to compete with GB and Detroit next season. They've already committed a pretty large contract to one of the youngest, brightest looking FA. They may still be in on one other big money FA (Knighton) and frankly if they land him, the rest of FA has to be smaller to mid range, less sexy signing anyways - of which there are still plenty of names available. A few already have had visits and there's rumors connecting us to others. As Raw very succinctly noted above, we have a ton of needs. I agree that the "sexiness" of the signings is less important than fit and ability. That said, Rolle was clearly a back-up plan (Searcy was the primary target), Knighton is hardly a sure thing as I write this, and we still need help at LB, CB and S (more than just Rolle, assuming he signs)...and that's just on defense. My point is that by addressing these issues through FA you free yourself up to get a true impact player at 7 rather than taking the risk of reaching based on need. Want to catch up with GB? Sign solid contributors through FA and make a splash in the draft by getting Cooper or White and daring the rest of the league to single-cover them or Jeffrey for the next 5 years.
