  1. Regardless of the outcome of this series I'm convinced the Giants are nothing more than a .500 to slightly above .500 team that has gotten off to a good start. At some point they'll regress.
  2. Just going by game day it appears they're squaring up Ray, if so, runs will soon be scored.
  3. Maybe he's been hurt all season? I just don't have faith that once healed he'll be effective.
  4. A closer should miss some bats once in a while, GB rate is good but, he's got to miss some bats. A closer missing bats is especially important in the post season, don't want him always pitching to contact.
  5. With Palencia throwing strikes I don't see why a combination of him and Hodge can't cover the 8th and 9th. It's time to end the Ryan Pressly experience, I believe he should be DFA' ed.
  6. Nevertheless, didn't the data point to a regression? Why invest in someone who's effectiveness is waning?
  7. Pressly is not a closer, as a Cub never was, never should have been, he's cooked. Here's what I don't get all the data screamed regression for Pressly yet, Hoyer, apparently, completely oblivious to data, goes ahead with making him the Cubs closer. I'm assuming Hoyer has access to same data we have plus much more, why ignore the data?
  8. Although it's highly unlikely there's no rule against Flexen getting "hot" for a starts but, I'd sure feel better about some option other than hoping Flexen to temporarily catch fire.
  9. Correct on the Reds and Cubs not being the 85 Cardinals or Cubs, I'd rather not give Flexin a start. Be it against a not so good lineup or not, he's just plain bad, maybe, go with a bullpen game for Shota' next start? Afterwards, look to Horton?
  10. Forgot about Ruthven and Sanderson, they were rolling, then injuries galore and, in looking at the his game logs I see Sutcliffe missed nearly a month later in the season. That must be the later injury you're referencing, basically 1985 started out well, then injuries completely derailed the season.
  11. The hamstring horsefeathers is terrible, flashbacks to '85 when Sutcliffe pulled his while tiring to beat out a GB. Ended being out for nearly a month, Cubs were over .500 prior to injury, finished 7 games under. Maybe it time to kick the tires on Alcantara? Sell high on Ballesteros?
  12. Was really hoping to sweep these pissant fucks, nevertheless, 4-2, winning both series on road vs. the NL Central is pretty damn good. Even though the Brewers got this one I don't believe they'll be a threat, the Reds are the threat.
  13. Once in a great while the opposition will execute perfectly, it happens, good thing is it's once in a great while.
  14. Hendricks with 6 innings of 2 hit shutout ball vs. the Tigers tonight.
  15. horsefeathers Jose Macias, forgot about him, Macias, Perez, the 4-3 machine that was Juan Pierre, a not so fun period in Cubs history.
  16. Counsell really, really needs to stop Neifi Perez-ing Justin Turner against LHP.
  17. I agree, he dominated a better Brewer lineup last season, don't see why can't dominate a lesser lineup tonight.
  18. Throw in Vientos, Marte and Nimmo, who always seems to hit the Cubs well, and you've got fairly dangerous lineup. I like the Cubs chances against the Brewers and Giants, neither of them have anyone scary in their lineups.
  19. Someone mentioned the upcoming stretch vs MIL, SFG and NYM being tough. I agree, still in MIL and SFG, you're facing lineups that pale in comparison to what we faced in LAD, AZ, SD, PHIL and TEX so, it's kind of a small break.
  20. The first pitch DP pisses me off however, Skenes is up to 54 pitches, which is good, driving up the pitch count will make his exit that much sooner.
  21. I'll be optimistic the Cubs will win today, Rea will keep them in the game and they'll get to the Pirates bullpen.
  22. Is Juan Pierre the next player to be profiled? Who can forget the awesome one, two punch that was Pierre and Neifi? Someone had a image of the dice Dusty used to construct the lineups, I believe many or all of the sides where Neifi.
  23. If Rea keeps them in the game tomorrow, they'll get to the Pirates bullpen. Man I hate when they lose to ****** ass teams like the Pirates but, that's baseball, sometimes it happens.
  24. Cardinals took game one of the DBH, 6-0, don't mind. The Cardinals are not a threat, if they want to do the Cubs a favor and knock off a potential threat in the Reds. Have at it.
  25. I couldn't find any 40 times, etc. however, it's my understanding that Loveland is more of field stretcher, will be a difficult cover for a LB, whereas, Warren is closer to what the Bears have in Kmet. Is this correct?
