  1. Was looking at the statistics, outside of De La Cruz and maybe, Hayes, the Reds lineup is kind of, well, is ******. Their team offensive WAR is 6.9, Reds have the lowest OPS+ of any playoff contender, didn't realize it was that poor. It's their starting staff that's given them what little chance they have at the post season. The Cubs are at the league average in ERA+, still the lowest of any NL playoff team but, at least average.
  2. That would be though, good thing there almost no chance of that happening.
  3. Root, root all they want for a lost cause the Reds playoff chances.
  4. Yeah, but, there's no one on the Padres staff with what Greene had tonight. And they weren't completely over matched by Skenes yesterday.
  5. Greene was fantastic, a truly meaningless game for the Cubs. What's great is the Reds need to win every game and they won't, even if Cubs get only 1 of the next 3 it's a kick in the balls for the Reds.
  6. Given the way it started with him, it be something if ended up being a decent contributor after all.
  7. Greene pitching quite the game, too bad for the Reds that it's probably not going to mean squat. So sad, well, not really.
  8. Why is Yankees - Orioles on Fox? Honestly, who gives a horsefeathers about the Yankees except for the media?
  9. Bullpen is a problem for them, saw a stat they're 9-20 in games started by Flaherty. Think Jobe going down was a very big blow.
  10. Wow, that's quite a list, many of them give baseball media hard-ons.
  11. I've no doubt Loveland and Burden will get some snaps.
  12. True enough, I was just surprised Swanson was outpacing De La Cruz in WAR 4.7 to 3.1 and other statistics.
  13. When it's the Reds all one hears about Elly De La Cruz this and that, just took a look at the statistics. And Dansby is quietly putting to together a better season then Elly. Given all the hype Elly gets I would have never thought this was possible but, there it is.
  14. Maybe the Cubs will put a wrench in their plans next week.
  15. Guardians finish off sweep of the Tigers, they were carrying baseball' best record for most, if not all of the first half. Looked terrific in doing so, then shortly after the break went in a downward slide and never really recovered.
  16. Now that you mention it, I distinctly remember watching that catch and thinking WTF?
  17. Anyone watching Tigers - Guardians? A few moments ago Skubal gave up a tying HR, followed by consecutive singles. Guardians are driving up his PC and are within 4.5 games in the AL Central. I like the Tigers however, it'd be interesting if the Guardians win today and make it closer. Tigers are limping to the finish, not too confident in their PS chances. Skubal can't pitch in every game, bullpen is very shaky. And just like that, Skubal out, Jose Ramirez hits a 2R-HR.
  18. For the Brewers bigger loss may be Megill, don't know his current status, he's on the 15 day IL.
  19. Isn't Quintana kind of the Cubs version of Colin Rea? Early on, was never thought to play a big role and had an unexpectedly good season but, may be left off the playoff roster?
  20. I'd love to see the Mets crap out, would be hilarious.
  21. This game - https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SLN/SLN201709280.shtml - forgot all about that, certainly was a hangover/forfeit lineup.
  22. Good luck. Was thinking about 2004, Cubs desperate for wins, Mark Prior goes 9, gives only 3 hits and 1 run, K's 16 and the Cubs lose in 2-1 in 12. That horsefeathers schmoe, Austin Kearns, had some big games in that series. Shoe is pretty much on the other foot today.
  23. Today could be one of those games that we've seen when the Cubs were in Reds' position. Needing every win they can get facing a team with a lesser pitcher and, in Cubs case, probably a hangover line up. The Cubs win anyway while the Reds grind saw dust from their bats.
  24. Haven't looked at the numbers, would a split effectively end the Reds season?
  25. Although the WC #1 is still in play, I'm super glad the playoffs are no longer in question. Most especially against the Reds, don't know what is about them but, they're annoying shits who I cannot stand. I love that it's on the Reds to basically win every game and, even then, their playoff chances are slim.
