  1. Looking for a silver lining or some kind of a return,, anything? Chances are this was a failed gamble by Jed and that’ll as far as it’s going to go.
  2. Despite being done for this season, I hope the Cubs make an offer to Soroka. Once healthy he’ll be a nice addition.
  3. I think the prices were just too outrageous, in that regard it’s hard to blame Jed.
  4. Would giving Seiya several games off help? If, by some miracle, the Cubs generate more than 5 runs, I’d seriously consider giving Seiya tomorrow off as well.
  5. Seriously though, I wonder if this was a calculated gamble by Jed that didn't pay off. We'll probably never know the answer. I think it's a safe bet to write Soroka off for this season, which sucks. Had he'd been healthy, he might have been really helpful.
  6. I'd gone with Little, same issue as Pearson, cannot consistently throw strikes. If have to choose between a wild hard throwing RHP or LHP, I'll go with the LHP.
  7. Does that mean Soroka' done for the season? Kind of reads that way to me.
  8. I think it will as well, what concerns me is may take another 2 weeks to a month for them to snap out of it.
  9. All solid, the Brewers down fall in the playoffs will be they usually need multiple hits to score. Sure, Collins, as he did yesterday, can hit a 3R HR off Fedde. Not certain he'll be able to do likewise off the likes of Wheeler, Senga, etc. nor, is it likely they be able string together multiple hits against those types of starters. But, anyways, screw the Brewers, time for the Cubs to start playing better.
  10. My motto as a Cubs fan - expect the worst, hope for the best.
  11. Why not sit Suzuki for a while or, at least, the remainder of this Reds series? Go with Tucker at DH, Castro in RF? I think there's a greater chance of Busch coming out of his slump while playing than Suzuki.
  12. Why not? Orioles threw some horsefeathers schmoe call up out there Sunday and he was effective, why can't the same thing happen for the Cubs?
  13. Don't believe it matters, with the lack of hitting, they would have lost 4-3 instead of 3-2.
  14. Is Birdsell a possibility? Has made 3 starts at Iowa, only 14 IP though, so maybe after another start at Iowa? Noland as well? Given Soroka is done for a while, if not the remainder of the season, have to start thinking outside the box.
  15. Great, just when we thought they may be done with horsefeathers bullpen games, here we are again.
  16. I know it's a possibility, it's baseball almost anything is possible. This team is in such a deep funk I'm really questioning whether they're capable of better baseball at this point.
  17. I'm guessing he access to all the data including medical reports and, after consultation, deemed Soroka a risk worth taking? Or, is this another Neris and Pressly for Jed? Any word on the injury, is it the injury of the year oblique?
  18. I will note the Brewers got 3, yes 3 hits, off the corpse of Erik Fedde yesterday. Still insist they're no offensive juggernaut, not that it really matters with the way the Cubs continue to not hit.
  19. Keep waiting for this horsefeathers team to get hot, just don't believe it's going to happen. It's been 2+ months and the big hitters are showing no signs of coming out of their slumps. I know I've alluded to having patience, there's patience and realizing something is an exercise in futility. I've just about had with this horsefeathers team, bring on football. Speaking of which, I wish the Illini weren't so highly ranked or ranked at all, never seem to do well when the spotlight is on them. It's better to toil away in anonymity.
  20. Anyone else know the ball Turner hit was gone off the bat? I'm proud to say I did.
  21. I read that somewhere, I'm certain, if at all possible, the Cubs will face Skenes. They've never missed him, why start now?
  22. It'd be tough to watch, hopefully, they'll be light at the end of the tunnel for Cassie.
  23. This aligns with development of a players in any sport, we'd like to see a linear ascension. When, in reality, the curve towards being good looks like something drawn with a spirograph.
