    Why waste time complaining of and about Baker or contemplating what it might take to rid the Cubs of Baker? Why not accept the fact he's going to be around for a minimum of one more season and wait on Hendry' off-season moves?

    As much as many of us would like to see Dusty permanently removed from the kitchen I believe he'll, at the very least, Manage, I use this term loosely, the Cubs in 2006. Here's hoping Hendry has a stellar offseason...

    You'd think the Manager everyone wants to play for would be able to help recruit Furcal. After all, Baker should be good for something, shouldn't he?

    Anyone know the opponents BA vs. Prior when he's ahead in the count 0-2 or 1-2? I only seen a small sample but, when someone with Prior' stuff is way ahead in the count, those batters shouldn't have a chance. Yet, several times this year I've seen him lose hitter after hitter, the most blatant example being Mike Lamb earlier in the year - that Grand Slam was on a 1-2 pitch.

    I know its probably asking for a bit much but, I'd sure like to see a dominant Prior outing. It would be a refreshing change from his most recent starts.

    He'll probably sign in StL, find the fountain of youth and have 3 consecutive career years. You've nailed it, beyond a doubt, he'd be fantastic for the Cardinals, everything the breath on, touch or remotely think about turns to Gold.

    Doesn't keeping Walker necessitate signing Furcal? With Walker at 2B and Ramirez at 3B, the Cubs will need a defensively strong SS such as Furcal.

    Someday the Cubs are going to win the WS, I hope ESPN is banned from from the Cubs locker and Post WS Press Conference that day.

    Pierre getting on base, Delgado hitting a SF - I can live with that but, why does also have to players like, Conine, the very definition of a baseball schmuck, that excell vs. the Cubs?

    The leadoff batter of a smart Baseball team would definitely try to push a bunt along 3B against the Cubs today.

    Get on the phone with Hendry or somehow get this plan to him, its logical, make sense, in a word smart. What a minute, I've seen the flaw, being that this is an intelligent plan it therefore, represents something the Cubs would not do.

    What of the Yankees? Along with overpaying for Jon Garland (1 great season + free agent year = bloated contract from the Yankees see Pavano, Carl), they're sure to dish out the megabucks for the star of the WS.

    The NL is wide open, if the Marlins get their act together they may be the NL's best. No offense to Cardinal fans but, a lineup consisting of the Taguchi', Nunez', Mabry' and John Rodigruez' of baseball just isn't going to cut in the Post Season. In the AL, I believe the Angels or Red Sox are the best teams, one of them will represent the AL. If the Marlins win the WC: Marlins and Angels If the Marlins don't win the WC: Braves? and Angels Note: For those who believed the Astros are going to win the WC hands down - Clemens, Petite, Oswalt and the rest of their starting staff have to, with their weak offense, pitch a shutout or a near shutout everytime out. This, like the WC, is not going to happen for Astros.

    "He still has talent and he still has aptitude,"... Did Hendry mean Patterson has a baseball aptitude or aptitude in general? Because someone with a Baseball aptitude would have gathered that a LHP with a breaking ball has yet throw him (Patterson) a strike this season. Or, its a good idea to take a pitch, most especially after the pitcher has just issued a BB to previous batter on 4-5 pitches.

    How long did Baker go with a 1-2 of Patterson and Perez? Nuff said...

    With the exception of Maddux' starts the oppostion M.O. has been to take pitches and its worked pretty well, why can't the Cubs learn from this? As simplistic and pathetic as it may be, taking pitches leads to more base runners which in turn leads to more runs. etc. Yesterday was a perfect example, the Braves were going to take and continue to take pitches vs Prior. Had Prior consistently thrown strikes he'd probably thrown a 2 or 3 hit shutout.

    Giles 2003 hr/ab - .039, 04-.021, 05-.018 along with a decreasing BA, interesting...NL pitchers making adjustments?

    Mr. OBP (Lawton) with another great at bat, so far as a Cub he's drawn one BB and had one other 3-2 (that I can recall) count. What's up? Is he trying too hard or has already bought into the Baker philosophy of swing at everything and anything?

    I know Prior K'd three that inning but, is just me or has he lost alot of batters he was initially ahead of in the count 0-2 or 1-2? More so than 2003 annd 2004...

    "How can I do that, Dude? Dempster has saved us man!" I don't believe that would be a good move, Dempster' been so effective because he can let all fly for one inning. As a starter he'd have to pitch with the next at bat in mind and at a certain pace. Speaking of Wood, how fun was it watching him follow Maddux the other night? After seeing Maddux, Rusch or Williams for 7 innings, the opposition might as well concede three outs for Wood' inning. They've no chance...
