  1. Given the Bears continuing narrative of "soft tissue" injury I'm having a hard time giving Gordon the benefit of the doubt. As you said, it's "I've lost the desire to play football", if that's the case, then horsefeathers retire. Bears don't gain anything by cutting him otherwise, he'd be an x-Bear, he probably already is an effective x-Bear. Poles deserves a lot of horsefeathers, he's horsefeathered up way too much, I'll give him a pass on Gordon. Don't think it's possible to glean he's a once I get paid I'm checking out dude or dud on draft day.
  2. As been previously stated, just get in, all it takes is someone getting hot - Cabrera, Palencia, Zeferjahns - and the Cubs could go on a run.
  3. Don't really trust Boyd, he's slightly worse than Shota, Cubs haven't won a Boyd start in nearly a month. How about flipping that tonight?
  4. I thought the same, watching the condensed game it appears they were, at least yesterday, facing the Brewers version of Shota. Low 90's FB left over the middle of plate, basically on a tee.
  5. I'll go out on a limb and say Zavion Thomas will not only stick but, will make an impact.
  6. Be awfully horsefeathers nice to delay the inevitable Brewers are the greatest team ever assembled piece from Trueblood by winning tonight Cubs.
  7. It's got to be back issues again, wouldn't think? Man, back issues stunted/ended Bryant' career, doesn't exactly give one confidence Conrad will ever be healthy for a prolonged period.
  8. It's my whacked up idea of trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
  9. I'd pencil him in at 1B tonight. Busch is really slumping and why can't the Cubs, for once, catch lightning in the bottle with a call up? Every other horsefeathers team pulls this horsefeathers out their collective asses, why can't the Cubs?
  10. What do people think about, tonight, playing Shaw at SS, Nico back to 2B and moving Busch way down in lineup to 8th maybe, 9th?
  11. Wasn't calling you out, just making a point the some are putting too much stock in the greatness of the Phillies.
  12. It's been the running theme all season with Cubs' pitchers of course, he had an injury setback. Don't know why there's any doubt.
  13. People are way overrating the Phillies, I'm not saying the Cubs will surely beat them. But, they're not some unbeatable super team, their not overall superior to the Cubs and are very, very, beatable.
  14. Money may have played a factor. I truly believe that all gesturing, etc. about this team or that team having a shot at Yamamoto was a load of horsefeathers. He, like Sasaki or Ohtani, was going to a be a Dodger from day 1, it was done deal.
  15. In games you really need to win Shota is absolutely un-pitch-able. The only context in which he should be pitching are blowouts or, if some miracle occurs, and they're able to clinch before the last series. I'd be perfectly fine if yesterday was his last start as Cub or even, appearance. Regardless of what happens he's a former Cub after game 162, no way does he make a playoff roster.
  16. What "soft tissue" problem not calling for surgery can be so crippling? Just WTF is going on?
  17. Only thing I can could see possibly happening is Cabrera getting hot, stuff is there to dominate. But that's a long shot.
  18. I'll spot you Sale, rest of their staff is exactly stellar and they can most certainly be had. Holmes, Elder and Perez are average MOR types, nothing special.
  19. They're not going to score the 7+ runs they need every game and that's what it's going to take.
  20. That's not happening, pitching staff will do them in.
  21. Stephenson, Suarez are not very good, except when they play the Cubs. This team is not going to make the playoffs, too many holes on the pitching staff.
  22. Only circumstance I would Shota another start is if they somehow clinch a playoff spot before the last series of the season. Just can't keep running him out there when you need wins,
  23. Need to drive up his pitch count and get to the Reds bullpen.
