  1. I'm fully convinced Flus was forced upon Poles. I also believe he and Warren relentlessly double teamed McCaskey to fire Flus. Had they not, there's no doubt Flus would have been allowed to finish the season. You know the whole we've never in season fired a HC nonsense.
  2. Win or lose, I'd like to see Caleb have big to great game vs. the Packers. Really drive home it's only a matter of time before Caleb and the Bears are a fixture among the best in the NFC.
  3. I had the same exact thought.
  4. Watching the Vikings-Seahawks, sure appears Jefferson has completely checked out. I know the QB situation, to say the least, is bad, and it's getting to him. Very much enjoying this Vikings display of futility, even Tyson Bagent, with crappy coaching, was better than what Brosmer, with a supposedly superior coach, has thus far, shown. Thing that irritates me about the Vikings is they're media darlings, get way too much credit when they win and not enough criticism when they suck. If the Bears we're sinking it up like this, the media would be destroying them.
  5. I'll give Poles credit for playing the media during the coaching "search". They were relentless in their criticisms and he made them all look like fools the minute Ben Johnson was available. Poles knew BJ would be hot commodity and he, basically, had him in the fold before anyone else had a chance. One of the few times I can remember the Chicago Bears completely punking the media.
  6. Illini finish at 8-4, will get a decent bowl bid in which Jacas and maybe, Bailey, and a few others, won't play. Doesn't matter, it's the extra practices a bowl bid affords that are important. Still, a somewhat disappointing season, OL never fulfilled it's promise. There were hints in the very first game of the season, Western Illinois generated some pressure and sacked Luke Altmyer 3 times. Then the disaster at Indiana, towards the end of that game, Indiana only rushed 3 the OL still couldn't keep Luke clean. These last few games they couldn't run block worth a horsefeathers. Bielema might now regret going to such lengths to keep the OL together instead of getting a start on the future.
  7. I agree, clearly very talented but, very little progress, no evolution in the passing game at all. What they were doing today was the same limited passing game they were running from the start of the season.
  8. Superior talent vs. good talent with a very raw QB is not a recipe for a Wolverine victory.
  9. With Mitch and Justin you knew almost any early procedure, etc. penalty was a drive killer. This offense can, as you said, overcome some early mistakes. Haven't seen such resilience on offense for the Bears in a long, long time.
  10. Yeah, doesn't that hurt?
  11. It's only a matter of time, not if, but, when. The accuracy and footwork issues are correctable, when he starts to hit on 65-67% of his attempts, the numbers are really going to pop. This is not a Justin or Mitch situation with in-correctable flaws dooming them to failure. What's interesting is the Bears take on other sites. I see quite a bit of it's just luck, they'll be the same old Bears in the future. Honestly, they sound in denial. A few posters are not so fast, they acknowledge the coaching improvement, the improved offense and they'll probably be able to fix the defense in the off season. Maybe coming to grips with Bears' future being bright.
  12. Guess the Bears we're very creative in stopping the tush push. Firstly, Hurts did not get the first down, secondly, Wright waited a bit to get a clear path to Hurts and the ball, allowing him to rip it out. Have to give the coaching staff a lot of credit, think we'll see more teams trying to do the same on future tush pushes.
  13. Most definitely time for a change, a legitimate head coach, heck, a legitimate coaching staff, an improving young QB. It's only a matter of time before Caleb really takes off. There's good days ahead for the Bears.
  14. Honestly thought the Illini and Bears would lose today. Illini did not disappoint, think they'll get better. The Bears, what a pleasant surprise, dominated the game and if Caleb could have a hit a few layups the final margin would have been larger.
  15. Caleb' got to start hitting on some of the layups. Bears scoring a TD on the next series just may put the game away.
  16. Did not understand the use of Gibbs in few spots, on consecutive short yardage plays Campbell runs Gibbs between the tackle and guard. First on the left side, followed up by the same on the right, both for no-gains. Haven't watched much of the Lions however, Gibbs has never struck me as a short/tough yardage type of back. Isn't it about getting Gibbs to edge, utilizing his speed? Thought Montgomery was more the power back? So what if it makes the Lions more predictable, isn't Campbell all about man vs. man, macho we're going to impose our will, blah, blah, blah?
  17. To me, the Bears are playing with house money, no expected them win 8 of 11. The most important things are happening - Ben is a legit HC, Caleb and the offense are improving - the winning now is a bonus. Off season will be mainly spent on improving the defense, something that is far easier to fix than getting you HC and QB correct. We've seen no where near the best from Caleb, that's coming in 2026.
  18. Believe A&M-Texas to be the best of Friday' games, go Aggies.
  19. We can give Poles credit for realizing/knowing Young did not have the physical traits to succeed in the NFL. He's horsefeathered quite a few things, he didn't commit a massive horsefeathers up by drafting Young. I remember seeing idiots on ESPN or maybe, it was, GMFB, saying Poles should trade Fields and draft Young. I believe drafting Young was never a thought in Poles' mind, good. In watching some of last night' game I honestly don't know how Young is able see well enough to complete any passes. A view from behind the LOS was shown on the INT in the end zone, when you see that, the INT makes perfect sense.
  20. Just hilarious reading about the Bears on other boards. Refuse to admit Caleb' improving, they've a legit HC and are ahead of schedule. Cannot come to grips that the Bears finally appear to have the QB and HC figured out. I think nearly all of us expected the Bears to be an improving team winning 7 or so games this season with the arrow trending up. Caleb and Ben are just getting started.
  21. Watched Vikings - Packers highlights and wow, McCarthy looked awful. There was some Justin Fields like stuff there, holding on to the ball, bewilderment, a weird ass INT. For good measure sprinkle in another special teams horsefeathers up and there you have it.
  22. I saw that, at the very least, Wright is able to knock the ball down, he was right there, either way the pass wasn't going to get completed.
  23. Totally agree, he's probably among the best, if not the best. Guess, what I meant to say, is fearing this or that defensive player is the old way of being a Bears fan. These Bears are trending towards a legitimately good offense, QB and HC, I'm done with fearing this or that team.
  24. Could be very tough. Then again if the Bears are able to effectively run and Caleb' playing on schedule I really don't care about Garrett. We're getting closer and closer to the Bears offense being the aspect teams have to plan for and be concerned with. Or, to put it another way, we're getting closer to the point where fans don't have to fear this or that defensive player because, the Bears are going to move the ball and score regardless.
  25. I was confident Loveland would come around, he's really horsefeathers good. Watching mainly Big Ten football, I knew both he and Warren were very good. All this talk of Loveland being a bust or a wasted pick was and is nonsense. I really like that he's an impossible cover for LB's and even some DB's. Laughed out loud yesterday when I saw the Steelers trying to cover him with Herbig, or maybe it was Watt. Did they really think that was going to be effective?
