  1. Steel shafts are more consistent.
  2. Dunedin...high-A affiliate for the Blue Jays. Does that mean he's one of the Dunedain? Because that means he'll live for a long time.
  3. Seeing as how Lee just got a day off, it's a safe bet he won't DH. I think Ramirez will DH one game and Soto one game with either Ward or Hoffpauir getting the rest of those starts. It would be nice to get Soto some time off from catching but he's pretty important defensively too.
  4. Maybe he had Maddux on his mind but he meant someone else.
  5. Since he said "He's been hitting ever since" I'm guessing he pointed it out to him Thursday.
  6. Has anyone heard how long Ward will be out? He's on the 15 day DL but is he expected to come back after 15 days? Regardless of how Hoffpauir does he goes down for Ward. Of course Piniella likes him so perhaps they might DFA Ward but that seems unlikely. I really doubt they'd send Fontenot down since it would prevent Piniella from making some of the double switches, especially now that Derosa is batting 8th.
  7. Is Sisco still up?
  8. LaTroy Hawkins Rocky Cherry - I think he got called up a few dats ago by the O's Sergio Mitre Jason Marquis- well maybe not quite yet
  9. If Soriano was a pitcher he'd be Cabrera. Really good or really bad and nothing in between.
  10. What this move does is give Piniella flexibility with when and how he's going to use Eyre. In general it seems like most managers don't pay much attention to splits beyond the obvious and often incorrect if the pitcher is LH I want a RH batter to face him.
  11. Erik Bedard hasn't been very good so far for the Mariners with an ERA around 6 last time I checked.
  12. I think the point of the OP was that the Mets might make a move for the sake of making a move. That is certainly possible but they'd release Delgado before they traded Beltran. I wonder if the Mets would be interested in Murton.
  13. I wonder why they skipped 89 and 98. The so called curse from 2007 was a stretch.
  14. Edmonds is doing us a favor by stinking right from the beginning instead being barely good enough and sticking around the rest of the season.
  15. Craig, What do you think about Matt Camp at SS?
  16. Fixed. Strike year Expos roster was sick. But they didn't have Andre Dwason, Al Oliver, Gary Carter and Tim Raines.
  17. He's gone Sgt. Schultz on the matter, lest he lose his coveted Pith Helmet.
  18. They could probably get good value for Prince Fielder. They could then move either Gamel or Braun to 1st.
  19. Ivan DeJesus was a pretty decent SS and the trade got rid of Larry Bowa who was pretty much finished. Sandberg was a little hitting, couldn't hack it at SS, infielder. Matthews was pretty mcuh finsihed by 86. Dernier was never that good after 84. These moves are not why we should remember Dallas Green. He started rebuilding the minor leagues.
  20. What was really amazing about Dawson was he played at a time when there were guys that were fast and guys that hit for power and very few that could do both. I still don't understand how the Expos couldn't win with those great players they had in the mid 80s
  21. Worst trade from an era of bad trades. This was worse than any trade made by Hendry.
  22. GWRBI was dumb. The criteria was the run that put the team ahead to stay. It often went like this: Dernier would get on first, Sandberg would get a hit moving Dernier to 3rd, Matthews would ground into a FC and drive in what would be considered the GWRBI when the Cubs eventually win 5-4. Nevermind the 3 run HR by Moreland that actually gave them the margin of victory.
  23. Mind if I ask what you did to your grip? (I actually have a free 10 min lesson scheduled this afternoon, but I'm curious.) This is just an educated guess but you should be able to see 3 knickles on your left hand (if you're RH)
  24. It wasn't an exceptional play, but it was a very good play. Soriano was running pretty hard, caught the ball (evading two fans leaning over the railing trying to catch it) and slammed up against the side wall. That's pretty much what I thought seeing as how it wasn't a web gem nominee  but it's nice to see Soriano running hard. Maybe brenly's comments will motivate him
  25. I heard on the radio that Soriano ran to the Cubs BP to make a catch. Was it as great as Santo made it sound? Was Soriano running better?
