sure, but why? Exactly. Starting pitching is not a need for the Cubs right now. There's no point in making a move just to make a move. Sure, he's a big name and a great pitcher, but how would it really be worth it to pay him 56 million dollars when we already have a ton of high priced contracts? And if he never returns to form from this injury, that's another bloated contract that handcuffs the team from making worthwhile deals. I love the comment from his agent though. The White Sox are obviously optimistic that Peavy can return this year and be effective. Honestly, this looks like a move for the future, and a way to get fans back into the stands since they're starting to not show up again. Plus, I think Kenny Williams is probably smirking right now knowing that he got Peavy when the Cubs went after him in the offseason and couldn't get it done.
