  1. Apparently he lives a double life. He secretly plays as Kobe Bryant when he's not on the Hawks. Here's a screenshot of the article from ESPN.com. Wonder how long it will take for them to fix the picture. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/m_scafide/kane.jpg
  2. I'd rather be rooting for Colorado to win to help the Cubs win the division. let's say that when the cards play the rockies the cubs are 4 games back of st louis for the division, but tied with colorado for the wild card. you'd still root for colorado? if it would help the cubs get into the playoffs, of course i'd root for the cards. my love for the cubs will always trump my dislike for the cards.

  4. i feel bad that this happened since he it was such a feel good story to so many people, but he is only human. he did call his wife, the rangers, and mlb right after it happened and told them about it. he didn't wait around for the pictures to come out like most people in this situation do, so it looks like he was willing to take responsibility for his actions then. judging from the pictures, it looks like he has more to explain to his wife than he does anyone else. but he claims that was the last time he had a drink, and i believe him. at least we know he wasn't able to get any cocaine. it would've shown up in one of the tests that he has to take 3 times a week. and one more positive test and he's done for good. what's disturbing is that no one knows what happened to him after he left the bar that night and went to the strip club.
  5. Aramis, hands down. That's not being a homer either. Beckham has had a really good month. That's it. Aramis has been good for years. Like others have said, I'll take the consistent production from Aramis any day of the week. Now 5 years from now? That might be a different story. Beckham looks like he's gonna be a pretty solid player.
  6. No matter what he does and how much I dislike him, I never underestimate Tony LaRussa. He has a sneaky way of getting the most out of his pitchers/players. Even with all of what you said, the Cards are still a half game back right now.
  7. Not unless they had a vegetarian spread.
  8. sure, but why? Exactly. Starting pitching is not a need for the Cubs right now. There's no point in making a move just to make a move. Sure, he's a big name and a great pitcher, but how would it really be worth it to pay him 56 million dollars when we already have a ton of high priced contracts? And if he never returns to form from this injury, that's another bloated contract that handcuffs the team from making worthwhile deals. I love the comment from his agent though. The White Sox are obviously optimistic that Peavy can return this year and be effective. Honestly, this looks like a move for the future, and a way to get fans back into the stands since they're starting to not show up again. Plus, I think Kenny Williams is probably smirking right now knowing that he got Peavy when the Cubs went after him in the offseason and couldn't get it done.
  9. Hopefully Selig read his quote and a suspension or fine is in order for questioning the integrity of an umpire. He'll definitely get fined a small amount for saying that the ump already had the outcome determined.
  10. Keep on keeping on, friend, I got dumped yesterday too - albeit a much shorter time frame than a year and a half. I just broke up with my girlfriend of 7 months about 4 hours ago. Must be something in the air this weekend. I always feel bad about ending relationships, so the Cubs at least gave me something to smile about today.
  11. I have to admit, Wise's catch was insane. Given the situation, and how far he had to run, that either is, or is really close to, the catch of the year. I'm not a fan of Beuhrle in any way, but you have to respect what he did today. Congrats. Now try not to accuse Greg Maddux of cheating throughout his career again. Anyone know the official time on this game? He normally works really fast, so this game was probably over in a 90 minutes. And Hawk's call was probably the worst call I've ever heard for a historic game/moment.
  12. PAT: And that's a balk called on [insert pitcher name]. RON: You know Pat, throughout my whole career I don't think I had one balk called on me. PAT: You also didn't do very much pitching, did you Ron?
  13. Is it just me, or does it look like Marmol's arm slot is off? It looks like he's changing it almost on a pitch by pitch basis. I was watching him the past few appearances, and it looks to me like he's all over the place.
  14. The Cubs won 2 out of 3? I thought we got swept? The Cubs did get swept at Comiskey last year.
  15. I can only imagine what Bruney would say if he saw Zambrano pitch on a regular basis. If I'm KRod though, there's no need to go over and say something to Bruney like he did. My response would've been simple (and it's worked well in the past)... "Who's Brian Bruney?"

  17. I still find it amazing that he actually got his fastball up to 86 MPH for that movie. That's pretty bad for a pitching prospect, but pretty good for an actor. Is this some sort of joke that I'm missing? Because I don't see how it is at all possible that Robbins threw a ball over 60, let alone 86mph. There are plenty of real life pitchers who I wouldn't think could throw over 60 but yet throw in the 90's. Tim Lincecum. Just by looking at him, you wouldn't think he'd be able to even get the ball to the plate. I never believed Tim Robbins could throw either, but it was on AMC one night and they kept flashing facts from the movie on the screen. That was one of them. http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/contributor/1800018667/bio

  19. Report on this coming in the 2nd inning. Makes no sense right now.
  20. Same here. Maybe there's a bad movie on FX later or something. What a bummer. But I live a half mile from the stadium, and just looking outside, it would be miserable to even attempt to get this game in tonight.
  21. They better be careful with this. If he starts throwing before it's 100% healed, he could compensate in his delivery and hurt his shoulder/elbow. I really start to feel bad for guys like this. So much ability, but just can't stay healthy. It's not like it's their fault either really. Guys like Carpenter and Prior just can't seem to catch a break. Well, at least outside of the millions of dollars they've made.
  22. Don't know if he was mentioned, but I think kurt schilling needs to be in this rotation.
  23. He seems to have an opinion about everything. And he has no problem sharing that opinion with anyone that will listen. And even people who won't listen. If he would just keep quiet and pitch, I think he'd be a lot more popular.
  24. Please let Curt Schilling be on the list.
